Crossing Over Horse Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Inquiries: Laurie My eyes do not want to be open, but tomorrow Terry starts back to work again after six days off. He is asleep, Mom is asleep and I woke and decided to jump in here to paint before everyone wakes up. Seems like once the household is awake and there is movement, my creativity seems to disappear. Hopefully they will both sleep until at least eight or nine and hopefully the phone will not ring too early! Terry spent yesterday cleaning or unpacking or repacking a room that was stacked with models. Now they are all in my loft in our master bedroom. Here in Texas Boxes plus Boxes equals Roaches. I do not mix well with roaches. I have delayed mentioning this to him but will need to. If he built a model every week, he could live to be 140 years old. I have yet to figure out what we will do with all those models once he builds them. I will have to sneak up next week and snap a shot... then you wi
MY TEAPOT Still Life by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Linen Panel SOLD Good morning. I am JUST out of bed. Told you something was captivating about the bed... I never sleep in and you know that if you are a blog reader! This painting is a small but dynamic one with at least ten layers of paint. Not sure the picture does it justice. Today my God-child arrives. A teenager in the house. We will see how it goes from here. Mix in Mom still staying with us and Terry's new schedule and wow, life is going to get interesting. I want to remind many of you to take care of yourself. See to your needs today. Do something special just for you. Take time and allow yourself to wind down and be quiet. Treat yourself with something you are missing, laugh today and remember to pray and give thanks to the Lord. I was awake for about 30 minutes in the middle of the night, and I spent that time in prayer over some things racing through my head. God and the pillow/bed won out and I went back
Miniatures in White Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 5 x 7 Oil on Panel Inquiries: Laurie No I am not still in bed. I have been up painting since four thirty this morning and just finished for the day. It is almost one and I am still in my pj's. Terry took one look at me about an hour ago and said if I just would wait seven more hours I could be ready for bed.... He is so funny. Mom gave me an article to read this morning about enjoying God's favor in your life. It was out of her VITAJOURNEL. I read it twice through and decided to reflect on it in my thoughts today. "God earnestly longs to be gracious to you - to have mercy on you and to show you His Loving-kindness." Isaiah 30:18 A favor is something that is misunderstood...when lately did you say, "Can you do me favor?" You are asking to bet some type of action completed with out having to give something in return. A favor is an act that is performed out of goodwill and it is not won but rather giv
CARVED HORSE TWO Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD 24 x 24 inches Inquiries: Laurie The first carved horse was snapped up off Daily Painters by a collector in St Louis... she has many of my paintings in her home and finished off her basement to buy more...well at least in my mind the story went that way...LOL. Laura is truly a special friend, and someone I met once about two years ago when we were in St Louis visiting family, we shared breakfast together. She is someone that despite the distance and the only occasional email, the rare phone conversations...we pick up right where we left off when we talk. There is a closeness there that I believe is through the Lord and a warmth between us that is beyond comprehension since we rarely visit. The Lord is good. But when the original carved horse posted... she wanted it. I had a request from a collector in Washington State for a similar one. This one has a bit more depth to it than the original, but I tried to retain th
Lost in the Garden Child Art Oil Painting 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD More tomorrow. I am boxing for the NY show and running behind. After lunch is an interview with the Dallas Morning News and I have not even gathered all my info for that yet! Divine Order... I am in need of Divine Order. Send some this way please! We celebrated Jan's birthday last night with dinner in Grapevine. It was wonderful to see our grandson. I will either add to this blog later with pics or tomorrow. OH YES< style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 102, 0);">"Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, so that your days may be long and that it may go well with you."--Deuteronomy 5:16
IN THE DARK OF NIGHT Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 x 2 Acrylic Overlays with Varnish Inquiries: Laurie Appropriate painting I do believe... but it is day time and just past nine. I am suppose to be at the framer, was to be there six minutes ago, so this is a very very short blog. I have over 25 emails wanting to know about the bed. The Bed is WONDERFUL. We slept like logs... and woke happily...but a bit late! The only ONLY negative is the mattress is short. We have a huge four poster bed and are used to the big deep mattress set we had. Our mattress sits very very low. I am hoping Terry can figure out something to rig to bring it up higher. I feel like I could slip through between the back of the bed and the mattress with the hole that is there!!! I high recommend the bed after one night, but we need to see after two or three nights! I like the verse I chose to include today. Think about the words and see what you think. As a human we would have a dif
HER FAVORITE PIANO MUSIC Child on Piano Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD 14 x 18 inches Commissioned. For your painting, contact me: Laurie The day is upon me and it is just before six a.m. Terry left about twenty minutes ago and I have been doing my morning computer work of answering emails and doing this blog. After that it is a busy day of PAINTING and CLEANING the house...which is very dusty. TODAY IS THE DAY. Today is not only the day that the Lord hath made, which I rejoice in, but TODAY is also another important day. TODAY THE BED ARRIVES. I know if you read my blog you know about the magic pillows, the oxygen pillows from Sovn. Terry's snoring has almost totally disappeared and sleep is a sure thing on these babies...well today between 12 and 2 the mattress arrives. This has been a long time to wait as they built it for us. We bought it June 10th and this is what July 25th? I had expected before we left for Jackson, but TODAY the bed arrives. More details tomor
Flowers in My Room Flower Floral Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Inquiries: Laurie It will be a musical day today as I will begin prep this morning on several new musical pieces. Yesterday I finished this one and truly enjoyed painting every bit of it. It is a subdued color palette for me. Refreshingly different. Once someone ask me how I paint every day...they wanted to know how I come up with so many subjects to paint. Every morning when I wake I cannot wait to paint. I truly dislike all the computer related stuff, but I make myself blog before I get to play. I have learned to take more precautions and I always wear gloves now. Everything else is sheer energy as I soar through the process, music playing and paint flying. My constant inspiration is the Lord and His creation around me. He makes it easy. From each painting something is learned as I journey through the process. With movement on the canvas building the composition, it stays open to change as m
WITH ATTITUDE Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Inquiries: Laurie PAINT PAINT and I cannot wait. Mom and I were in here until after ten last night. I started her on her own painting. I did some washes on some canvas in preparation for today. I get to paint today! My house is screaming with dust, But I will clean it on FRIDAY!!! We took mom on a road trip yesterday at her request. We drove up to Bonham TX to look at the VA facility and the town. She kept saying it reminded her of Sherman TX. It is a pretty nice town and is closer to the Red River and Oklahoma. We toured the state Vet Nursing home. It was gorgeous... only 7 years old...filled with light and love and people working there that ENJOYED THEIR JOBS! Oh my gosh, what a difference. I could tell mom liked it because the walls were all painted green in the front area. In the Alzheimers unit they are soft blues. Colors are used to soothe and blue is a quieting color. What was neat, from the moment
Two in Thought Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 20 inches Acrylic on Canvas Inquiries: Laurie Terry's last day of vacation is today.... and then back to work. He will be doing a new schedule with more time off. We might actually get to travel more! YEAH!!! Sort of one of those do it all in three day weeks! Trading off with a partner to cover shifts over a two week period, he works one of his 40 hour periods at the beginning of the two week period and has six days off in the middle. Then he works 40 hours at the end. It is not bad if he can stay awake for the two very long days. I am definitely glad God doesn't take off for six days at a time in our lives. He works 24/7 and then some. Things would surely be a mess if he didn't. Some days seem dark, and they are in our family right now. My mom is recovering slowly from hospital visit number three, my dad is in respite care, Terry's family had a suicide two days ago, and then we found out one of his co-wo
OTHER SIDE OF THE EARTH Abstract Landscape by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Ice cream Party last night, here on the block...wow what fun!!! I have tons of pictures and will try and make a slide show this week, but no time this morning. ALSO Birthday Party celebrations yesterday...REMEMBER?? I am sugared out. FUN<> FAMILY.... and the blessings of the Lord! I will do a slide show of that one! Watch below. I put it together fast and noted several typos, but it takes too long to change them, so just enjoy the slide show! Today is boxing and shipping day, almost back to a normal work week, but not there as I have not been painting. THAT is not good. I will be painting by tomorrow. The piece I posted is several years old and is owned by a collector in Virginia. She has at least 20 of my paintings. Divine order is the thought for today. Decisions in our lives seem to way lay us for days or weeks at at time. Sometimes it is fear of the unknown that keep us in that frozen position. It
Wyoming Paint 1 22 x 28 inches Horse Acrylic Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Symbolism abounds in this series with linking circles woven through out the composition. Hidden notations to me as I create reminding me from whence the spirit comes....From the Lord! This afternoon we will celebrate birthdays. My mother (who was in the hospital on her birthday); my hubby, Terry, who drove me to Wyoming over his birthday; Larry, my son in law; and Jan my eldest son's love of his life. Missing from our celebration I will be offering up birthday love and prayers for family friend Lanie, and for my dearest painting "sister" Conni Togel. If you have never seen her art, visit www.charisma-art.com . She is FABULOUS!!! Terry and I went to pick up brisket and chicken at Rick's barbecue www.rickssmokehousebbq.com in Garland. He has eaten there four times this week. He needs a frequent diner's card for sure. Add to the mixture, cole slaw, baked beans, Sister in law Leslie
WYOMING PAINT 2 Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Acrylic pulls on Canvas. Contact me for more information, mention title of painting. Laurie Saturday is here. I am suppose to be painting for my New York show in two weeks and I only have a few things ready. I will truly be working in studio all day today. Breakfast will be cold cereal. Mom and Terry are still in bed sleeping so I am trying to keep the house quiet. I have been experimenting with my dreaded acrylics trying to make friends with them. Both of the artists I showed with in Jackson use acrylic, so I decided to try it. I will have to go over to Asel Art today and get some more though. Morgan is coming, so I may have him stop for some supplies on his way. Saves gas and time that way. They move differently that the oils and are a bit more challenging. Renew today as you step out into the day. Know that you are alive and filled with the spirit. Treat yourself kindly, eat healthy and walk today. I will pra
RED DESERT HORSE Horse Abstract Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 x 2 inches Acrylic and Impasto on Canvas Contact me for information, include the name of the painting: Laurie Good morning... geez it is almost eight and I am just blogging. Mom is here at our house newly released from the hospital. It changes our schedule up a bit and we stay up later. Won't do that once Terry is back off vacation. So I slept in this morning, something my body is NOT accustomed to. We have had many things we are praying about in our lives. That sort of sent me off on the thought of the difference between the mind, the soul and the spirit. It started with the daily message I got from Donald Welsch commenting that "Life is about your soul, not about your body and not about your mind." He further commented that people work hard to keep their body happy and they enjoy stimulating their mind...the soul is the last thing they leave time for. Well, that started these wheels turning
PONIES Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 48 inches COMMISSION SOLD inquiries: Laurie Not really sure where the day went yesterday...but it disappeared and I was tired when I crawled into bed. We are hoping mom will be released from the hospital today. I am not sure, but believe she will come here to recover again. Times they are a changing. I know there is a song with those words. In our lives change is the only thing we can count on besides GOD. Change is happening every second. God is working in our lives as well. Nothing escapes his watch. Bad luck good luck.... I cannot go there except to use that as an expression because I believe it is all part of a greater plan. Unfortunately in our eyes, God often uses the best most innocent folks in ways to touch those of us that need to learn or grow. Often we have to wade through the situations to get to the other side. Patience is learned, we are strengthened through our trial and God continues to give us exactly what we
COOL WATER Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace I am truly not sure what is happening with the BLOG and images this morning as I have attempted to load an image four times and it does not seem to be here. Terry calls the BLOG the BLAB. His dad was over visiting yesterday dropping off TP's birthday card and we were catching up on things. Especially things that we were in the midst of.... Terry thinks I put everything in my blog/the blab, but I truly do not. I learned so much though yesterday it is a shame not to share it. My mom is doing better and we are hoping for her release from the hospital today. My dad enjoyed visiting her yesterday; Terry took him to get a much needed haircut and then we all met for lunch. Well, not all of us. Terry stopped to put FUEL in the car. Remember it is a diesel and takes fuel not gas. Well, Dad got out of the car at the station and was walking around and a pan handler walked up trying to get money off Dad and Terry. Terry is very over
WOLF PACK 24 x 36 inch Oil Painting Wolves by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD at the Show in Jackson. We are back! I have loaded a slide show of the trip! I am so happy to be safely home after two 12 hour days of driving. We were unable to stop very long inbetween so I could not blog. My mother was admitted back into the hospital early Sunday morning and we left immediately to return to Dallas. Everything that happens in life has a reason. Even when you think you have wasted your time. Even with the bad stuff. We never know the outcome of situations and the whys, but everything has a purpose and time passes and what is to come finally surfaces and we begin to slowly understand the why with the outcome. God has a plan, and although different from ours, we must stay steady with our faith and belief in Him. There is no waste of time...This is your life and every moment has a purpose. Life life to its fullest! Here are some pictures from the trip! Grace, Laurie "Then one of them, when h

Roses from my Garden Contemporary Floral Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Inquiries: Laurie This is the Day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Today is my dear mother's birthday. I tried to call a bit ago, but think she might still be asleep. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! The show went well last night. I sold three paintings that are paid for and two more that are to be paid for and picked up next week. I am happy as it covered the expenses for the trip with some left over! God is good! After the show we went to eat at a fabulous restaurant with the other two artists and spouses and the gallery owners, Rick and Hollee Armstrong. Rick and Hollee are such a strong duo both in their marriage, their family, their business and their lives as a whole. It was a treat to see them work together as the show came together and happened. Nocona Burgess and his wife, Danielle were in from Santa Fe and Carol Spielman and her husband Jim were in from Billings
STANDING GROUND Contemporary Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD A huge warm hello from Jackson following 8 GREAT hours of sleep. Despite the move to the third floor yesterday, packing and unpacking again, we have to keep spraying the room as it is obvious a mouse died in the walls somewhere. Do not get me wrong, this is an expensive exclusive place with four or five stars here in Jackson, the new Best Western....and there were literally no other rooms left. We have enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace and toasting our toes in the 45 degree temps this morning; also enjoyed the huge jetted tub in the bathroom and are heading out to Jebadiah's Sourdough Restaurant this morning for breakfast. Downstairs they do offer eggs, sausage and brick like potato bites...we are opting to go out. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HUSBAND TODAY!!!! Yesterday exploring we discovered a fabulous gallery. We visited several yesterday, but the HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR is unbelievable
Dance of The Veils Two Contemporary Oil Painting of a Dancer by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x24 inches Inquiries: Laurie At last a short moment to blog. We didn't sleep much last night. Seems that a production company was inhabiting the rooms around us and they worked through the night. NO ONE answered at the desk, but believe me they heard from us this morning. I was in the hall at three a.m. begging them to please shut their doors and allow some of us to sleep. We have had breakfast and are heading into town to walk a bit this morning. We are also changing rooms this morning...up to the third floor. Maybe we will sleep tonight. I hope we sleep somewhere soon.... We stopped by the gallery yesterday. Half of the work is hung. I will take pictures today when we stop in! More to come. We continue to grasp tightly to the Lord and know we are where we are suppose to be and the journey is for a reason. In His time it will be known. I am so grateful to have my supportive loving husband to
Sweet Summer Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Inquiries: Laurie Short blog, we have to hit the road... want to say we slept in, but this Best Western was not the quietest place to stay. Terry is up and looking for coffee and ready to load the car. We did have one highlight here in Laramie; We ate at a restaurant called Jeffrey's Bistro. OH MY GOSH...it was fabulous. Website is www.jeffreysbistro.com. We were literally driving around town hungry and lost. Terry took a sudden right turn and I finally said, lets ask this man where to eat. He turned out to be a professor from the University of Wyoming. He has lived here 40 years. WONDERFUL man, Peter Shieves and his wife Gail. He said she is an artist as well and recognized for her purse series, Screaming Women. I have not had time to google this yet, so you get to do it before me. As I lay awake early this morning to the noisy air conditioner and pounding neighbors, I found myself in Prayer. Th
THROUGH THE FIRE Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 20 inches Inquiries: Laurie We are in Amarillo. We made it in time for a glass of wine at the "Happy Hour" and then hit the indoor pool and swam for about 30 minutes. After a hot shower we ate left over Buffalo burgers Terry made at home last night, fresh cut up fruit and left over corn on the cob. We traveled with our Oxygen Pillows and yes, we both slept like logs...no neck aches or shoulder aches and after 8 hours in the car...that says a lot! Our trip out of town yesterday was slow. We finished packing up the car about ten thirty, made a stop at the post office and then stopped to visit my dad, who is in respite care. We left Dallas at 12:30 and headed north to Denton and then North west to Amarillo. Next stop today will be Denver to see Uncle Charles and Aunt Barbara; Thursday we will drive from there into Jackson. Morgan was settled into the house and the dogs were happy he was there. The plants inside
THE FIVE Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Commissioned Painting SOLD This enticing piece is going to live in Dubai and later travel on to Europe. With my departure for Jackson this morning, I painted yesterday afternoon and this morning to finish it up. A desire for five beauties in this piece, there is a marigold horse in the background along with a turquoise horse. Morgan is here and the dogs are in DOG HEAVEN. He spoils them rotten. Terry is still asleep and I am finishing up my clean up here in the studio and closing down my stuff. I will travel with my baby Mac and will try to keep you abreast of the trip. I think we will only travel as far as Amarillo today and stay at the ASHMORE INN . This hotel is UNBELIEVABLE. They go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. I think that is why we stay here and never push on to Duhmus, Texas. Then tomorrow we will travel on to Denver and visit and stay with Uncle Charlie and Aunt Barbara. They live on the
LONGHORN SUMMER SOLD Monday...WE ARE PACKING TODAY and Morgan is moving in for the next week. He is the best house sitter with the dogs. Our dogs are not the friendliest dogs to strangers. We taught them well on stranger danger. In my head I am compiling one thousand things to be done today. The other side of my brain is in prayer saying, GIVE IT TO GOD. One thing at a time and we will get to where we are suppose to be. Yesterday I spent the day in the studio tying up last ends and cleaning up. Still have to mop the floors. I have wash going, already cleaned out the pantry for traveling food...we are heading to Whole Foods for last minute travel things and water and then we may take on the washing of the dogs. They are pretty dirty and I could not get them in at the groomer. I do not know if I will be able to blog every day when we are on the road. Most places do have internet but if it takes any thinking other than turning on the computer I struggle. In fact I need to add to the
FLOWER PICKERS Child Contemporary Art Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Sunday dawns and I truly hesitate not to get tangled in knots realizing what lies ahead for the day. I have eight paintings to pack, which follows Thursday's packing of 15 for the show in Jackson.... and I am working on two easels today. Only peace through the Lord will restore my calm. Yesterday Stacey and I went shopping. We were hunting some maternity clothes for her and I was looking for something to wear next Saturday night for the opening. I had discovered a store on the walks out at North Park.... PINTO RANCH , managed by Susan Campbell. It is a delightful store, filled with beautiful designer clothes for both men and women with that great western flair. They also carry hand made boots, hats and little surprises for the kids. I bought the new grandbaby TINK a full set of Soft Barn Animals. Yes it was an impulse buy. We continued on in search of maternity and finally found somethings to tide S
Orchids Flower Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 Oil on Linen Panel SOLD Inquiries: Laurie Cleaning out the studio yesterday was quite a chore. I will box some shipments today and then clean the floors...they are brick. The dogs sort of live in here with me too, it is a huge area about 24 x 24 and they do get to get out into the house, but when I am in here, they are too, so it gets dirty. My grandmother always told me Cleanliness is next to Godliness. I do feel better when it is clean in here... always excited about painting in a clean area so I can mess it up again. Cleanliness is a comfort in a way to me and it gives me hope...it lifts my spirits. When things pile up and get cluttered, so does my mind. Life seems to clutter up all of our minds with so much activity and business. It is too early and dark to go exploring but there is a book I uncovered that mom was reading while she was here entitled Preparing for Tomorrow, or something like that. Of course it was written ba
IN HER FATHER'S ARMS American Indian Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 framed Oil For Inquiries: The Rare Gallery Jackson, Wyoming or Laurie Sometimes when the spirit is in there working I sit back in amazement at the results. This is one of those pieces. It is an older painting that I am just now releasing and it will travel to Jackson for the show on the 12th. The child's face is mesmerizing. Totally the work of the Lord. This was painted to represent that time in your life when God carries you. There are the times we are so worn out and so tired He has to carry us through the pain. The trick is learning to relax and let Him do the work. Don't try so hard, don't work so hard, don't wear yourself out...remember to live today and live in His love and find the Joy. Grace, Laurie “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.” Psalm 33:12
Lady in Blue Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches SOLD Inquiries: Laurie It was a short night. Terry decided to watch a movie and it was one before I fell asleep. Then he was back up at four and decisively woke me up... So today I will be operating on three hours of sleep. May not be my best day today. Yesterday found mom and at the hairdresser for her hair cut and nails. I had some highlights put in...then off to see the house on Park Lane with my work in it. That huge painting that was 4 ft by 12 ft is hanging on the back wall and the conductor is to the left. Pretty cool to see the whole house. I have six or seven paintings there. Today be a powerful expression of good. Your life should be fulfilling to you and you should seek your joy. You are in the right place, you don't need to go anywhere....look around, be still and listen....can you hear His call? Your joy is there at your fingertips. EXPLORING Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Inquiries: Laurie PAINT PAINT PAINT. That is what I will be doing in less than ten minutes. PAINT PAINT PAINT. Yesterday I have an old high school friend visit and she painted. I have not had time to download the camera but will do it for the blog tomorrow. Also yesterday we chased Paddy around the neighborhood. Ticked me off because we took him for a two mile walk in the early hours and he still went out the gate. Of course it didn't help Terry left the gate open while he was watering. Trying to find the dog is always a challenge as they are so unpredictable on direction. Terry took off in his big dodge truck, I was in the Passat with the puttering diesel engine...mom and Bill were in his VW and Kirk in his Nissan. The key is to listen for barking dogs. Usually that can help find him. I took the alley paths. Where we live we have nice paved alleys and thankfully he tends to like them as he does not understand
BLUES Blue Tree by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Commission For inquiries: Laurie Just in from walking two miles in the heat with the dogs this morning. We thought we got out while it was cool, but we both have to shower...it was not. The dogs didn't seem to mind though. Perhaps that is what we need to do in our lives when things are not right, or they are upside down or inside out.... is not to make a decision about anything. Decide to not decide. I know on occasion Terry and I have to agree to disagree and drop it. So when something is staring at you in the face, make the sound decision to not decide right now. It is a winning situation because it gives God time to work. Neal Donald Walsch tells us today, "Stop worrying about what you can "lose" or how you can "win" and just follow your joy. Where does your joy say you should go?" Grace, Laurie " If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and
