PINK POPPIES in the Wind Contemporary Floral Flowers Art Oil Painting SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie "Stop judging others, and you will not be judged. For others will treat you as you treat them. Whatever measure you use in judging others, it will be used to measure how you are judged." Matthew 7:1-2 I truly dislike can's of worms. Worms are really creepy to me. Seems like "The Shack" started up some grumbles with some folks and others sing praises of the book. I did finish it early yesterday morning and it was good to the last page. GOOD AS IN FICTIONAL READING GOOD. I do not want to misrepresent anything when I have suggested you read the book. IT IS NOT meant to be read for teaching of the Word. It is a good fictional story of how one man deals with tragedy in his mind. Did any of you all see Gone with the Wind? I am a history teacher...certified history teacher in the state of Texas to teach any flavor of history from American, to Texas to
no 56 Miniature Roses Contemporary Floral Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 inches Oil on Linen Panel Contact me with title for purchasing information or to commission a painting. Laurie "For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother." Mark 3:35 I truly do not know the direction this blog is going but I am praying as I do go forward. Two things keep streaming through my mind, "My Brother" and "Crowds of People". When my kids were young their favorite Seuss book was Are you my mother? We wore the cover off several editions in short time. Do you know the story? There is a mother bird that leaves baby bird in the nest to go find him something to eat. Baby bird wakes up and looks around and begins to wonder? and WANDER. He goes looking for his mother. He approaches bull-dozers, dogs, cats, etc and each thing he encounters he asks the same question, "ARE YOU MY MOTHER". Finally the end of the story h
Gathering of Roses Contemporary Art Flowers, Roses Palette Knife Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Saturday morning finds me itching to paint so bad I almost did not blog. Music playing right now is: Arietta con Variazioni 5:29 Kelly Yost Kelly Yost - Piano Reflections: A Gentle Selection of Reflective Light Classics Classical This is some of my favorite music to paint by... classical piano. Survival. That seems to be a key word in today's world with the economy tanking. With all the negativity in the news and the job layoffs, rising grocery prices, housing prices dropping...it has to have an impact on everyone somewhere in their life. An African proverb talks of gazelles and when they awake in the morning they know they must always be ready to outrun the fastest lions or they will be eaten. AND every lion when it wakes up knows it has to outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. So it doesn't matter if ou are the gazelle or the lion, you hit i
Fruit and Flowers Still life Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 12 x 16 inches Inquiries: Laurie Painting this morning for sure. Calls from The Red Tree Gallery for additional pieces and that will definitely keep me busy! Yesterday Mom finally went with me to Three Fountains to swim. Brother Kirk went with us. With in moments I knew I could live there and love it. The pool is warm bath temperature, which is really good for me! We stayed in a bit long and got pruney, but she moved around quite a bit; so much so was rather weak getting out. We have a way to go to build up strength. I hope God was not listening to that last remark...reminds me of someone once saying to me 'do not pray for patience'.... I am beginning to get the picture... don't pray for strength or you can be sure some trials are on the way to answer your prayers! How do you build strength in your life? Do you think God will just touch your heart and you will have the strength? A good parent wants the
TINY BLUE IRIS Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 18 inches SOLD Morning has broken and I am cleaning the studio. Terry is still asleep and the dogs are under foot at the moment. I put off my morning shower to finish doing the dirt in here. I just found my favorite exercise dvd, DANCE OFF the Inches with Juliane Arney. It is pretty good! I will be cranking it now that I found it. Want to figure out how to get my drying rack in here. I want to sell my large drafting board to make room for it. Terry did not want to do that when we moved here, but it has become a catch all for everything. It is not a place I can work. If he can get it fixed (The drawer is broken) I can set my watercolors up on the table and use it, but right now I do not like it in here. No catch alls are needed. I was glancing at daily word this morning before rolling out of bed. Sometimes I refer to the thoughts from there in my blog. I think I have to this morning. It touches on miracles, faith and
WHITE FLOWERS BLUE VASE Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 14 x 18 inches SOLD RAIN is falling and the lightening is bright this morning. Poor Annie Dog, we gave her meds last night for the storm as it was predicted to hit around three this morning. As we got up at five, it was still not here and she is not drugged very well as it is hitting. Weather forecast was a bit off. Meanwhile despite the rain, all is functioning here but my brain. I need to make more lists! I have quite a few commissions I will be working on today and tomorrow getting them started. I finished up the 24 x 48 of Azawakhs running on the beach. You will see it probably tomorrow in my blog. It is a very powerful painting. I heard from Morgan and Hillary in Washington DC. They were with my friend Niki of Sunrise Tourette and they were doing karaoke. Wish I could have been there to hear my son sing. Today they will begin teaching the art classes we put together last weekend so my prayers are with them as the pr
FLOWER LIGHT Flower Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches SOLD ON DAILY PAINTERS! Thank you! NOTE: Martha, the artist, that left the comment, please email me and give me your email address so we can visit! The paint is thick on this one! Layers thick. Not sure where it came from, but it took me back to feeling like I was 10 years old as I painted it in freedom with out constraints. Wednesday morning is here and the thought remains that I am still behind. I took two days off from painting and have some needed commissions to work on today. One is a horse but small, 11 x 14 size and one is an Azawakh. This is a Sighthound. I am eager to do both today! On the house front, Terry has been sheet rocking to repair what was torn out for rewiring. Darla will be back today to do a dedicated line for my computer. Next week we will take on the box. Do you believe in Miracles? I picked up a book from Barnes and Noble called "A Course in Miracles". (Wondering about
First Poppies Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 15 X 30 inches SOLD The wind is howling outside this morning. Our 90 degree temps are back in the thirties. Only in Texas! I saw some poppies in a garden this week and that prompted a fun painting of their brilliance. Yesterday Terry and I finished up replanting and re potting the garden room. We had purchased new pots for our roses that we brought from the country as well as his mother's rose that we have nurtured along. I will have to take pictures and share them this week. It is nice in there, a very peaceful retreat. The roses and azealas will thrive in their new soil. Re potting is a thought to consider for us today. Often as a plant grows older and there has been no weekly maintenance to feed and nourish it, it begins to get yellow leaves and even shriveled leaves. I feel that applies to us as well. We stumble along in life often neglecting our connection that is wide open with God. He waits so patiently to lend his ea
POT OF COLOR ~ Abstract Flower Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for Pricing Email: Laurie COLORS COLORS COLORS...swirling and piling. This painting if full of color! It makes you smile when you look at it! Well, yesterday I made 8,023 steps. A bit better than the 3000 the day before. Not sure what will happen today. Waiting for a sign from the Lord on Direction. Things are changing here rapidly and I know in my heart I need to hang on and float along with the rough waters. The acronym would be WORD....WAITING ON REAL DIRECTION. That is where trust comes into the picture. I read a book once called You Can't Walk on the Water if you do not Get out of the Boat. Or something close to that. The water is a bit scary at the moment. I believe Daily Word is a treasure this morning. It speaks on the key word of Prosperity. Believing that divine abundance flows into our lives and prosperity is ours. Of course this is addressing not t
PINK BEAUTIES ~ Flowers by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me if you like it! Good pricing available! Laurie Well we were up late last night...it was the night before CHILI PARTY...which is tonight. Terry was cutting and preparing until way after eleven...despite the fact we had to be up at five for him to leave for work. At our house this is a serious venture and Terry prepares two or three pots of Chili. He also makes me a small pot with out hot peppers in it! This is an annual event and usually the week after Christmas, but the house was only so so and I had not had time to invite folks...so I put it off till tonight. I figure it is the 11th day of Christmas, it still works! Everyone coming will bring White Elephant Gifts to have the numbered gift exchange where you can steal gifts from each other. I hope there are no orange toilet seats this year. Tomorrow I will post more photos of inside the house as Morgan has been working even more
THE COLOR OF ROSE ~ Abstract Flowers by Laurie Justus Pace Two Gallery Wrap Canvas 12 x 12 Acrylic Contact me for pricing. Laurie I have to figure out where to shoot my paintings in this house. Everything is blurry because of the lack of light. Terry put in some new lights last night but I have not painted by them yet. Will be doing so in a few moments. I really enjoyed sharing the studios of everyone in the daily painters! WOW. I didn't post a painting yesterday because I didn't know it would pick up both. I missed that email but that is okay. Yesterday we drove to the airport to pick up Billie Bauman. She left Rochester NY with 10 degrees and blowing snow and arrived in Sunny Dallas at 65 degrees and clear blue skies. The high today will be seventy. It will get cooler this weekend. Believe it or not we have had several Snowy Thanksgivings and a handful of snowy Christmas Days. We took 12 packages to Fedex, two were international, and bless those folks, they ran us throu
ROSES in a Bowl ~ Contemporary Flower Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contact me for prices! Okay the size is not exact over the fireplace, but it is a big painting! It is 30 x 30 inches. This is a delightful painting, very contemporary. If it doesn't sell it will hang in Frank's House, which is what we are calling the new house. I always like working with the framing of acrylic bands around the edges....and the basic colors scream contemporary. I have slept so well for the past three nights. I know the Lord is speaking to me to be calm because everything we are dealing with is not solid yet. Well, actually nothing is predictable but death and going to be with the Lord, but meanwhile I have a house to pack, paintings to paint and knees to pray on. Is your life in confusion or chaos right now? Often life gets away from us during this time period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is triple the activity in our lives, com
LATE ROSES ~ Floral Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home SOLD Egads, I have been sitting at this computer for an hour answering emails. I am just now getting to my blog. I HOPE HOPE HOPE to start painting. This painting was completed this weekend. Full of joy , life and color, thick thick paint adorns this canvas in a celebration of life still blooming in my roses as fall temperatures have arrived. A change in seasons again. My thoughts today remain focused on the families in Southern California. I cannot even imagine the sheer terror of the loss and the panic and the feeling of total helplessness. We all feel that way at times in our lives, but the horrific thought of my home burning to the ground and all my neighbors...to much to even begin to grasp. Please join me in prayer for each of them. Let's surround them with our prayers that God will hold them close in this journey. God will protect them and light the way a
