"Every painting has a reason and a season. It felt like abstract but I did not know how it would progress. I sectioned the canvas in quarters and laid basic colors in weaving them between.  I worked while the paint was crazy wet. I wanted the edges to form the boundary defining objects.  Can you see repeated patterns in this painting? The purple, red and blue merge through three times.  Yellow patterns in quarters three times... and three yellow pulls on or close to the vase.  Three large turquoise areas around the outside of the vase. Two on one side and one on the opposite side. So much of this is accidental, but is it truly accidental?  Part of painting is the intuitive pull of the palette knife as if in rhythm to the music playing in the room. Purposeful painting never has fresh

Yellow Tulips in my Studio! Laurie Pace

It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower. You didn’t have to struggle to make your face different than anyone else’s on earth. It just is. You are unique because you were created that way. Look at little children in kindergarten. They’re all different without trying to be. As long as they’re unselfconsciously being themselves, they can’t help but shine. It’s only later, when children are taught to compete, to strive to be better than others, that their natural light becomes distorted”  Marianne Williamson These were inspired by tulips at the store a few weeks ago. Came home and knifed them out into this beautiful 5 x 7 p

T S Eliot Four Quartets Yes and this painting was painted four years ago... and I am still missing some of the joy in painting like this, but slowly figuring out the disconnect.  It sneaked in through the back door with a voice constantly finding fault.  When you allow this to happen, you begin to self doubt yourself as you allow them to slowly undermine the person you have become.  Last year's language is to be left in last year and I am ready to

And you are beautiful." Amy Bloom Rather off the wall... even for 2005.  I was still exploring and truly having fun and at the time selling art on eBay making a solid living in the area of $75,000 a year. I told someone recently I ALMOST miss those days. I painted one to two paintings a day.  I listed them and sold them. My sweet husband would take Saturday and box paintings ALL day long and I usually had 7-10 pieces sell every week.  It was in 2007 that several galleries picked up my wo

SAD... I am sad.   This old floral painting just about reflects the household right now!   Terry has worked diligently putting in a new sturdy back door with inset blinds in between the glass.  We also ordered a new front door, by accident... happened to be in the right place at the right time. Lowes.   They were having 15% off ordered doors... and we narrowed it down and when they were running num

I swear you men have all your romance from the same worn book. Flowers are a good thing, a sweet thing to give a lady. But it is always roses, always red, and always perfect hothouse blooms when they can come by them.” ― Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind This painting along with three others , should be arriving in Watkins Glen, New York for a Flower Gallery Show at Quintus Gallery.  For some odd reason, I fell in love with this piece as I worked on it and it was processed through three different paintings before it arrived here.  The energy of roses

One of my older friends is my heart sis "Jan".  She is my go to mentor for everything and anything. I respect and love her and look to her as she leads her life a

Forget your woes and let your troubles lay And when it's morning again, they'll wash away. Here it's safe, here it's warm.  Here the daisies guard you from every harm. Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true. Here is the place where I love you.” ― Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games Just a thought to mull over today.  Sometimes I wonder how our generations are suppose to become strong and rounded with life and people.  Over the years the need to "ME"  "I" has
