Boy and Pig Oil on Canvas by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Linen Panel Contact me: Laurie This weekend I began a few more small oil studies for the My Buddy and Me Series that I started this year. This captures a little boy in his cowboy boots feeding a baby pig with a bottle. This reminds me of feeling of childhood. When you are a child you have such basic needs. As an infant you are held, fed, changed, talked to, played with and rocked. You know not the full implications of what lies ahead in life and if you did, you would have voted to stay in the warm womb floating around. Growing up is filled with responsibilities, disappointments, joys, self destruction, (Like others don't do it to us enough, we have to do it to ourselves.) relationships, and life in general both good and bad. (again according to your perception.) Sometimes I just get weary. Weary of taking care of so much in my life that I brought into it. I can only blame myself and no one else, but I am weary. Four times
DOG Boy and Dog by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Canvas My Buddy and Me Series Contact me for commission work or pricing: Laurie I have five minutes. FIVE minutes to do this blog and hit the easel. Charlene sent me an article about NOT GETTING THINGS DONE... that was me again yesterday. It is the constant life interruptions that get me off track, from paying bills, to answering phones, to trying to get phone service with ATT and dump Time Warner. I have always said "If people would just do their jobs..." because after I spent 45 min on Monday lining up service on ATT, I had to redo it yesterday again because someone didn't finish the order. BUT the good side - bad side was, we cannot keep our phone number we just got and trying to learn another new number doesn't sit well with either Terry or I. We were able to get his dad's old number that he had for 50 years...so we both know the number. By March 26th I will be officially ATT. Good riddance to TWC and
Cat and Horse My Buddy and Me Series LARGE Format by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD ON DAILY PAINTERS! Thank you for supporting the arts. Daylight Saving definitely was not God's plan for us or he would have adjusted the day and night. I asked Terry this morning what states did NOT do it because I wanted to move there. I can't buy into the thought that this saves energy. We are only on real time four months out of the year. Why doesn't Congress just outvote the Lord and his creation and make DLS permanent? I truly dislike DLS. Last night as Terry and I were trying to go to sleep by nine thirty old time/ten thirty new time, the phone rang. Often the phone rings in the middle of the night and it is a collect call from an inmate at the Dallas County Jail and always that is disturbing as I refuse the call hoping it is NOT one of my children or a relative in jail. BUT, it was our CPA out in California calling to go over our return. Here it is Sat nigh
A BITE OF APPLE Child and Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas contact me to buy: Laurie I posted this painting about two weeks ago but something did not work between my computer and my blog, so I am posted it again! It is still available. Most have sold off the blog. It is a palette knife painting with thick paint, a young baby boy with a horse trying to get to his bite of apple. Another in my series MY BUDDY AND ME. Did you ever think of God in that manner.... My buddy and me? We are never alone if we have faith. The Father is ever present in the darkest hour and again in the brightest moment. I say darkest hour because those seem the longest to me. The bright moments seem to flash by when I think in actuality we do not give them the credibility they deserve. We have to have dark to have light and the Lord provides this constantly in our days/nights and in our lives. BUT if you have your "buddy" with you, you are never alone in
Hiding Out with A Friend Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD From the easel yesterday another MY BUDDY AND ME! The moment of security when you nuzzle underneath in the protection of your best friend. Thick oils applied with a palette knife. Underneath the protection of your best friend...that is easy enough to expand on this morning. My eyes are a bit bleary from not being awake yet. Lately as I have felt overwhelmed by the surmounting cost of the money pit we live in, I remind myself that the Lord brought us to this house and here we are under His protection. We are busy nurturing this house back to life and there is much more to go. Under His protection we can only proceed in faith that He will provide what is needed for us to progress. Receiving two bills yesterday, one for the heater at $4200 and one from the plumber for $2400...I was in a panic. Within second though, I felt a calmness and knew I just had to work a bit harder, paint a bit
A BITE OF APPLE My Buddy and Me Series Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 x 2 inches This is my fourth in the MY BUDDY and ME series. Prompted by old photos of my grandson, this painting sort of evolved on its own! The sweet innocence of a little one in the sunlight is usually enough, but as this one eats his bite of apple, he has a buddy wanting a nibble too! This is Terry (He is my hubby, the big one) playing Swords with Jonathan, the little one, our grandson. More Sword Action play. Jonathan came to spend most of Saturday with us. Jon had just opened his new sword. He has been waiting since Dec 26th to see it. A game of chess as things quieted down. This was always part of life when Jon lived with us. He and Terry played chess every day. Well, life continues here in our little 'Money pit". We are still cleaning up massive amts of dust and dirt, but the new heater works like a champ. We were delighted with a long visit with our grandson yesterday. I think I me
