'Late Sunset' Oil on Board by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Late Sunset' 6 x 6 Oil on Panel SOLD Contact me for commission work. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 ANNOUNCEMENT Sometimes many folks wonder why I get so agitated when artists cannot find their own spirit and do their own thing.  This is  a link which better be down shortly to further show what I mean: http://jhargrovefineart.blogspot.com/ Jennifer Hargove has taken it upon herself to "Steal" or "Borrow" or misrepresent herself  by using my original artwork on her blog. She is an Alabama Artists. The fine for copyright infringement in the USA is $250,000.   Tell me how you would feel as an artist to find your ORIGINAL ARTWORK on someone else's blog and you can see where they faked the signature in black in photoshop on the image. Yes my friends, this is totally irritating.  My work is original.  I am not honored by such actions, I am angered by them. I am totally sorry for this young woman that she has to stoop so lo

'The River' Landscape River Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'The River' 16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2005 The Painting: This was a landscape from four years ago. It has such a peaceful feeling to it I wanted to share it. The river is placid and quiet, the Texas sun is hot. The trees are full of leaves but thirsty for water, and in the distance, the grass is yellow and light from burn and the drought. Holbein Duo Oils are the paint, and canvas is from Canvasplace.com. The Thought: What is the cost of anxiety? How does it crawl into your life every day and how does it affect you? I decided anxiety was an energy sucker, or a life sucker. It seems to pull from every part of your life and your soul. When you are trying hard to do something in a positive motion, it is anxiety that pulls you away splitting up your day. We seem to live partly in the now and partly in the 'what if' of tomorrow. Someone wise told me that worry is not a disea

'Seven Dancing Ponies' Horse Equine Art Painting by Laurie Pace

'Seven Dancing Ponies' 24 x 36 inches Acrylic on Canvas SOLD THANK YOU! Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, "What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?" His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind." Genesis 37 10-11 The Painting: A playful scene of the highly collected Painted Ponies done on a large canvas 24 x 36 inches in size. Brilliant thick buttery Liquetex Heavy Body Acrylics piled brightly together in this unique painting. The Thought: First I want to honor the day of my husband's birth... with a loving memory of his wonderful mother, Bobbie Jean, who died 14 years ago. It was in 1951 that she and Ben welcomed their first son (of three) on a hot July afternoon. This son has been the love of my life from

'Shawne's Casa Blanca Lily' Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Casa Blanca Lily' 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie ©Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2005 " I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. " John 13:34 The Painting : This painting was a commission piece by the wife of the Swiss Ambassador to Berlin. She had bought several pieces of artwork from me and from my son Morgan, including a gorgeous Texas Flag he painted. She is a Texan transplanted to Europe and she was missing her roots! The Thought : Care thoughts are roaming around in my head. On Tuesday, Terry and I drove 135 miles round trip to take our dogs back to their original vet in Ponder, Texas. Dr Phil Henderson owns the Ponder Vet Clinic and he is absolutely the best in Texas. We had used a Dallas vet the past year living here in the city, but I struggled with all the extra meds they wanted my dogs on. The women at the clini

'Iris' Abstract Flower Watercolor Painting by Laurie Pace

'Iris' 24 x 36 Watercolor on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valley s and hill s; " Deuteronomy 8:7 The Picture : This is a watercolor on big watercolor canvas. I did it during a class demonstration on watercolor several years ago. The Thought : I was reading Christian Fiction recently and part of one of the character's flaws was the 'gift' of manic depression. The Lord often has a serious sense of humor on these gifts. But truly it is one if you can embrace it. In every gift or challenge there is something there for us to receive and then give back to others. The character in the book referred to the 'handling' of the mood swings by comparing it to hills and valleys. Our life journey always has hills and valleys. That is a given we can agree o

"Beauty" Horse Equine Art Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

"No. 239 Beauty" 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to Purchase: Laurie SOLD OFF THE BLOG! THANK YOU! ©Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. " 1 Peter 3:8 The Painting : Different strokes for different folks. It was a laid back two day period working on this light impressionistic piece. This is a 24 x 24 inch canvas and I used Holbein Duo Oils in multiple layers. Most of the area is in wide brush, but parts are in a 1/4 inch brush. The Thought : I was reading in 1 Peter when I came across this verse. Peter is sharing what is important for us in our lives, but taking it a step further is to realize what God has for us. This verse is a gentle verse speaking of open love. Our God is this and more. Our God is an awesome God. God is tough and tender. Brings back thoughts of that child rearing book from the seventies "Tough Love

"Visions" Equine Horse Art Painting by Laurie Pace

"Visions" 18 x 24 x 2 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died; his sight was unimpaired and his vigor had not abated ." Deuteronomy 34:7 The Painting: I still have to finish up the eyes a bit...but I am almost finished. This is a good six layers of paint of more and three days of painting on and off. Even though it is small, it is well worked over. Staying with Acrylics for some reason, I am exploring the depth of what I can do with them. I think today I will play with watercolor layers and acrylic. The Thought: IT'S FRIDAY! Do you get energized on Friday or relaxed for the weekend? For our family it is the middle of the week because of Terry's Airline schedule and work. Our weekend is not until Mon/Tues. It seems for most 9-5 work people, or stay at home moms, there is a Friday sense of relief or anticipation of the weekend.

Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Blooms of Summer' 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 I have a post note at the bottom of this post... please take a moment and read it. " Make a joyful noise to the Lord all the earth. " Psalm 100:1 Do you have a pair of old slippers? What about a favorite coffee cup? There are things we have that bring us great comfort even in their simplicity. Those 'things' are a sign to us of contentment and when in use we feel contented and safe. In comparison... what is joy? Those slippers are definitely contentment, a sign you have arrived home safe from the world, or warmth on a cold morning etc. But Joy, are those slippers joy to you? Pure joy exceeds the contentment of knowing everything is going reasonable well. As you and I both know, in a split second your world can be upside down. Joy has to be found in the moment and it comes directly from Him. Joy is in us at all times,

Fathers in our Lives Western Art Painting by Laurie Pace

"Visions" 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2006 " My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. " Proverbs 2:1-5 "Visions" Every father has visions for life. At first as a young boy the dreams are of "what will I be when I grow up?" Some little boys want to play professional sports, some want to be mailmen... I have no clue what my dad's visions were as a child. I know by the time he was a young teenager, he worked to support his family. There were four children. My grandfather played baseball for the St Louis team back then in the late thirties, ear

~ Red Mane ~ Horse Art Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie " The Law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple. " Psalm 19:7 A Painting A Day: Eruption of color and movement are what comes to mind when I think of this piece. It began totally as a different subject and the subtle movement of twisting color brought this composition into focus as a thick dimensional feeling emerged. Areas of paint are up to 3/4inch thick. Those are the wonderful Holbein Duo Oils I use... no impastos on this baby! A Thought for the Day: There are those days in life that seem out of focus. From the moment you wake and throw off the covers it feels different. At first it might be thoughts of, "I didn't sleep well last night... I could use another hour of sleep." or "Is it Sunday or Monday?" That is my favorite. With Terry working a weird schedule from the rest of the world, I never know what
A Painting a Day ~ River Crossing ~ Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Pace 20 x 24 x 2 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie " We are people of flesh and blood. That is why Jesus became one of us. " Hebrews 2:14 A Painting A Day : Contemporary Abstract Art , this painting embraces the contrast of color. Cool layers of blues were laid out on the canvas first, followed by the yellows. I knew the greens would emerge as the overlays began. The small accents of red and orange are like "spices" in your food. They bring out the movement of the composition accenting it just in balance to treat the eye and keep it exploring the painting. Golden Acrylics were used as paint; there was no impasto used...just thick paint. My Daily Thought: I know I have written before about my favorite phrase. "If People would just do their jobs...." That is my cry of frustration I can't seem to replace. I need to stop and put myself in the place of the person
A Painting a Day ~ Niki ~ Acrylic POP Art Painting by Laurie Pace 30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie © Laurie Pace 2009 " From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another. " John 1:16 A Painting A Day: Pop Art a favorite for many of the younger generation and me too! I love the simplicity of blocked color and form and the intensity of the subject matter defined so clearly. Pop Art is a movement that began in the mid fifties in the UK and by the late fifties, it was here in the states. Pop Art takes an object and isolates it from a complex composition into a simple composition. It shares many of the same qualities as Minimalism; both are stand alone attitudes in their creation. This was painted for a dear friend in the D.C. area and it hangs lovingly in her home... she has the attitude that you see in the painting. Of course that is totally up to your personal interpretation. *** Exciting news a
Hydrangeas from the Finger Lakes Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me if you are interested in this painting: Laurie " I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. " Philippians 4:13 Terry and I yesterday morning, starting our day. We left and walked for an hour. Then we drove out to Maggiano's where Morgan works and had anniversary lunch. YUMMM. Dessert came out with candles. Enjoy the journey and enjoy the destination. Makes you reflective on anniversaries. I have known this man since I was 11. We definitely have experienced much of life together. Our journey continues as does our love and respect for each other. We had so many best wishes from our close friends and families, Thank you! I especially love the antique Hummel Figurine we received... oh it tugs at our hearts. Often in life we make some decision that we want something. We do everything with in our power to get it. We work relentlessly to make the
Dallas Skyline Oil Cityscape Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 4 ft by 8 ft Oil on Canvas SOLD Commission Contact me for work: Laurie " Do to others as you would have them do to you. " Luke 6:31 I have to sit and reflect today on life and how ours will be so dramatically impacted by what our "neighbors" have decided to do. This will be an emotional blog. I know they are all excited about adding on to their home and improving their living space and making it all nice, but they gave ZERO thought to how it impacted us and our everyday life. I hope you teach your children better and set a firm example of how our actions in life affect other people, and to be considerate of others as you make decisions that change their lives. Thank you mother and father. I was raised, as was Terry, to discuss things with others if they would be impacted by something I was doing. We are being impacted DAILY FOREVER. Our lives will never be the same due to their actions. Three day ago th
TREASURES BY THE SEA Children Portrait Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 SOLD, Commission work. " Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him. " Matthew 26:49 Are you a chameleon? Do you act differently around different people? I know my kids do. When the eldest is with his friends he is WAY different than when he is with us. Same with the youngest son. Only our daughter in the middle stays the course true to who she is all the time. If you change yourself daily to be what others want or what you think they want, then you are a chameleon. We are all suppose to change and grow in life...that is part of our journey. But changing back and forth every day from one personality to another depending on who you are with, is not healthy. Are you happier with one group of friends over another? Have you examined the why? God created you as you are and it is time you begin to like who you are. The positive parts and the negative p
No. 85 On The Run Contemporary Palette Knife Oil Painting Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase or for commission work: Laurie SOLD from my BLOG! Thank you!! "Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles He does for His people." Psalm 66:5 A friend sent me the daily posting for Neale Donald Walsch. In his daily posting were the words, "If you think you are looking at struggle, struggle is what you will experience. If you decide that you are looking at a gift (even if you can't see it clearly in this exact moment), a gift is what you will get. Just wait. You'll see." The sheer simplicity of this thought is HUGE. This morning I applied it immediately as I had gotten up early and cleaned house expecting an 8:00 am appt to arrive. At 8:30 I was still waiting. I felt I could not go in and paint as I would loose the energy built into the painting if I was interrupted. ... I waited and waited. Finally
No. 45 Blue Iris Contemporary Art Flowers Iris Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches oil on canvas SOLD Contact me for purchasing. Mention the title of the painting. Laurie "In everything set them an example by doing what is good." Titus 2:7 By Example. Do everything knowing you are setting the standards for those around you and it is important for you to set a Godly example for others. Knowledge is an important thing in life. Knowledge leads to wisdom...but more important is to teach the basic example of living an exemplary life honoring God. Others pick up on your examples observing how you walk the walk. Through self-control when you are presented in a tight situation, you provide leadership and positive action to resolve the situation. Maintaining integrity is also a wise step. Always be eager to do good and help out others around you. The example you set affects many other lives. You never know who is watching you. When your patience is being tried,

ON the news this morning that said people are heavy due to a FAT VIRUS? I think I have heard it all. Next we will hear that they are putting addicting powers in the Blue Bell Ice Cream we all love, or the Godiva Chocolate. To me it is black and white. I didn't eat sweets until after I was age 50. I didn't gain weight until I ate sweets. It is not rocket science at all. Yesterday Morgan was off from work and d

For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning." Psalm 30:4-5 I do not know where my mind was when I painted this, but I do remember having fun. Terry was home and he kept spinning around in his chair to watch me. I had on my IPOD and was jamming and painting, oblivious to anything else. This followed a pretty treacherous week of kidney stones and busy schedules... it was time to dance. In our lives there are always things creeping in to pull us down emotionally. If we didn't have the down days we would never enjoy those up days.
