The Color... movement on canvas.. Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014         The Color   sold 36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I did not rotate the canvas on this painting. I did decide to compose the colors to use in one way and not worry about the balance of rotating.  The center seems to be like a flower and the bottom quarter like stems... the top quarter simple and unobtrusive.  At this point I shot images of it and took it into photoshop.  I tweaked a few things on the original canvas for balance but I spent some time looking for horses as that is the 'expected' from me.  With a possible show in El Paso coming up and the need for new pieces at galleries, I have to go the horse direction even though my head saw several other things blooming in this paint.  The horses were easy to spot... can you see them? If not, stop by tomorrow and discover where I found them. Whoever claims to live in him mus

The Spirit of the Paint... the creativity of the painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014       The Spirit of the Paint... sold        36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Sold Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Well, it was time... time for the oils.  It was time for color to mesh with color and cross with more color and create movement. It was time to play in the color. Time to choose favorite colors and try a few new colors.  There was no longer a preconceived plan to paint that horse. The spirit this day was the color and the emotions from inside of me celebrating life and the joy of being an artist.  More awakenings occurred but not with this painting. Ideas for playing again will happen soon. I do not want to become stagnant. Try something new today.  Laugh.  Smile at someone and see if they smile back. Be playful. Be Creative. Be ALIVE. "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and

The Foundational Wash... Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Horse Paintings

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 The Foundational Wash 36 x 36  inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I have always prepped with acrylics on my canvas. I felt like wiping and dripping as I worked just playing in the water.  Dreaming it might rain again soon here for our garden.   As I mentioned I had listened to the interview with Dan McCaw...but I was past this stage when I started it... so I was grinning at the joy I had experienced already and being inspired by the words I heard, I cannot wait to share tomorrow with you... so come back to see more. Nothing feels better than a hot shower in the winter or a cool shower in the summer. I know our garden feels this way as I sometimes catch the marigolds beginning to droop. Time to call Lady L over to water the garden. That is her 'job' and she loves it.    With this canvas I felt the need to scrub and wash and spray and coat with

The Sketch... with Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 The Sketch Sold 36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  We will walk this one through this week. It was a journey of which I cannot share everything because of the energy behind the foundation, the letting go of what I wanted compared to the spirit of the paint. It is a worthy journey not yet ended as I begin with this sketch for Sunday. I was listening to an old recorded interview with Leslie Saeta, Dreama Tolle Perry and Dan McCaw . Listening to Dan McCaw's outlook on art and himself as an artist, I felt so drawn to his comparisons.  I have always shared the need to allow the spirit of each painting to surface and not control it.  Dan shares the thought that art comes from deep within each of us.  What is in must come out. It is not a matter of what you draw or plan to paint, the true spirit lies within you the entire time.   One of the last things he cov

Another Journey... Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Journey Three  Sold 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I have a painting sketched on the canvas right now...but it is a larger canvas, 30 x 30.  I cannot get the feel that I want and satisfaction with my sketches.... so I was hunting through old photos and sketches and came across this... and know the spirit that was in this one is the direction of the new one.  Will try and post something for tomorrow. We had Lady L all day on Friday.  My painting day turned into Oma Day but you know what?  I am so blessed to have the time with her.  We spent all day together. She helped me clean the house, scrub the kitchen counters and wax the kitchen cabinets.  We did her math for a few hours, we danced, we played the guitar (yes she is learning) and we laughed a lot. We made lunch for Bampa and we baked apple brownies... YUM...  So that is why there is no new

The Painted Ponies Gathering 2 The Passing of Spring by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 The Painted Ponies Gathering 2 The Passing of Spring 32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  If you look at the last posting and this one you can see how beautifully the colors pulled out to create the atmosphere foundation in this new Painted Ponies Painting.  Why the Passing of Spring?  We just had Easter and a week of on and off storms and it feels like the storms are passing leaving blue skies and sunshine.  Spring in Texas means STORMY weather.  Here is a close up of this painting and it is available. You can see more close ups on the site hyperlinked above.  #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart This reminds me of a painting I did about three years ago  with the arrival of fall. In this painting soft strong colors creating the 'atmosphere' recalling the haze of soft falling rain and drizzle.  Life is a co

It is not working... an unwasted Day in the studio with Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Not working for me... 32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  At a standstill last night and not liking where this is going. You will have to visit back tomorrow or the next day to see what happens... I just do not like things with so much control, I like accidental creations allowing the spirit of the paint to surface. This is too forced.  It is never a waste of time because the process of painting and layering things builds strength in a painting. If we could only embrace the fact that trusting God as a child trusts us is where we all need to be.  Letting go of control and giving it back to Him enables us to let go of so many things that are weighing us down.  Listen for Him in your heart. If you turn off all the brain drain going on and push back from your computer, TV and work... just sit in the quiet and listen for Him.   "I listen caref

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  If you visit the site above showing the details you will see the pages pasted on the surface creating the foundation of this small painting.  The horse definitely looks like it is playing around.  I almost scrapped it but there is something about this guy that really tugs at me. Here is one of the close ups and I think you will know what I mean.   Look close and you can see the foundational pages. #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart We made the weekend with Easter and the personal celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus.  We had family on Sunday for Brunch and then went to Terry's family's Easter lunch gathering and then to my mom's after that.  It was a long day but a wonderful day and Monday morning Terry and I both felt the peace that se
