It began with a charcoal sketch.  From there I work in acrylics first establishing a rather sherbet looking painting.  It had all the colors in the wonderful rainbow sherbet.  I dabbled on it on and off; Then Terry gave his view and I added more values. Then two days ago I begin in earnest to pile on the color with my knife. That is my joy and abundance...and here you have simply Abundance.  The Thought : I often write about the squirrels that live in our brains and run the exercise wheel usually at night when we are trying to sleep.   Seems we allow concerns of the day and doubt from our activities to creep into our peace of mind making it difficult to let it all go as we enter into the quie

'Flowers on the Table' 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie Click on the painting to see details. If it looks small, click it again. © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: Yes, it is a new one, and tomorrow there will be a new horse! Yesterday with a migraine painting was not easy. This has so many layers I lost count, but it is Holbein Oils on gallery wrap canvas and ready to hang. I think as an artist I would probably frame this painting, but it would hang without. The composition developed slowly with under layers of horizontal acrylics in quinacridone Orange, burnt umber and white....(yes). Then came horizontal layers applied with a brush in oils. The colors were predominately blues, greens, and a bit of rose madder. From this layer came multiple layers of color with a palette knife. The photo does not do it justice. The Thought: Yesterday I wrote about not feeling appreciated, but this morning I am in a go go go mod

Laurie "For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother." Mark 3:35 I truly do not know the direction this blog is going but I am praying as I do go forward. Two things keep streaming through my mind, "My Brother" and "Crowds of People". When my kids were young their favorite Seuss book was Are you my mother? We wore the cover off several editions in short time. Do you know the story? There is a mother bird that leaves baby bird in the nest to go find him something to eat. Baby bird wakes up and looks around and begins to wonder? and WANDER. He goes looking for his mother. He approaches bull-dozers, dogs, cats, etc and each thing he encounters he asks the same question, "ARE YOU MY MOTHER". Finally the end of the story h
Brilliant Roses Contemporary Art Roses Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 5 x 7 Oil on Panel Contact me to Purchase: Laurie Yes, I know I did not make it back to the computer yesterday. Stacey is still on bed rest and they ran another test that the results will be back in another 24 hours so real news is tomorrow. Baby is still growing but Stacey actually lost two pounds with her bed rest. This is okay so far since Lauren is still growing. She is over four pounds now. SHHHH....my Terry is still asleep. I must type quietly. I went to bed at seven thirty last night and was asleep in ten minutes. I was talking to Stacey on the phone as my eyelids went shut. After nine hours of sleep, I was wide awake this morning. So while he continues to sleep, I am blogging and doing paperwork for shipping. All the company is gone as of last night. Today is a day filled with wash, wash and more wash. I transferred pictures from the chili party to a slide show and will post that below. After al
Gathering of Roses Contemporary Art Flowers, Roses Palette Knife Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Saturday morning finds me itching to paint so bad I almost did not blog. Music playing right now is: Arietta con Variazioni 5:29 Kelly Yost Kelly Yost - Piano Reflections: A Gentle Selection of Reflective Light Classics Classical This is some of my favorite music to paint by... classical piano. Survival. That seems to be a key word in today's world with the economy tanking. With all the negativity in the news and the job layoffs, rising grocery prices, housing prices dropping...it has to have an impact on everyone somewhere in their life. An African proverb talks of gazelles and when they awake in the morning they know they must always be ready to outrun the fastest lions or they will be eaten. AND every lion when it wakes up knows it has to outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. So it doesn't matter if ou are the gazelle or the lion, you hit i
Roses from my Garden Contemporary Floral Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Inquiries: Laurie This is the Day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Today is my dear mother's birthday. I tried to call a bit ago, but think she might still be asleep. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! The show went well last night. I sold three paintings that are paid for and two more that are to be paid for and picked up next week. I am happy as it covered the expenses for the trip with some left over! God is good! After the show we went to eat at a fabulous restaurant with the other two artists and spouses and the gallery owners, Rick and Hollee Armstrong. Rick and Hollee are such a strong duo both in their marriage, their family, their business and their lives as a whole. It was a treat to see them work together as the show came together and happened. Nocona Burgess and his wife, Danielle were in from Santa Fe and Carol Spielman and her husband Jim were in from Billings
CLIMBING ROSES 8 x 10 on Linen Panel Contact me for pricing. Please mention the title of the painting. Laurie Finally the rain has let up. Yesterday Morgan and made a dash in it to the grocery store. YUMMM. I love fruit from Whole Foods. I have 8 bags that I use for the large hauls. Some were bought from Whole Foods in other states and it is cool to use them each week bringing back memories of those trips. I use smaller cloth cotton net bags for my fruit. They are a .09 rating for weight and I always make sure the cashier removes their weight from the scale. You can see in the sink I have a white bowl that I use veggie scrub in and we literally scrub or gently wash the fruit and veggies removing all labels before putting them in the refrigerator. I miss living in the country with my garden, but organic fruits and veggies to us are worth the price. Today we will be cleaning and shuffling the last of the mess here to prepare for the health inspection tomorrow as we finish up our las
Yellow Bowl of Roses Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 inches on Linen Panel SOLD RAIN RAIN RAIN...and then SNOW SNOW SNOW. Yesterday it was 75 degrees and beautiful for the past three days. Late last night the rain moved in and temps have plummeted to the low forties and still dropping. The storms woke us both about three this morning but we dosed back asleep under the warm blankets until almost nine this morning. What a blessing it was! We are off to Whole Foods, Asel Art and back home to work. I have several commissions to finish up here. The painting I posted today was from an antique yellow vase I have that has to be close to 100 years old. I just repotted things out in the garden room and pulled the use of some of those flowers in the antique bowl. It bring life and light on a rainy day. I did not want to use the word gloomy attached to rainy. When the rain woke us at three I began to pray and meditate. I imagined reaching my arms to heaven up through the rain and
Roses and Lilies ~ Flower Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 on Linen Panel Contact me for commission work. Laurie SOLD! Thank you Daily Painters! Egads, what a night. Pulled neck from unpacking boxes last night and topped that with a nice sinus headache with our ever changing weather. A friend had sent me one of those heal cloths you can wrap an injury in...sort of magnet like. I wrapped my neck in it last nigh. It is still sore this morning but I am moving slowly and made a promise to Terry as he helped me dress this morning, that I absolutely would not unpack any boxes today. Will paint some this morning and then clean out the second pantry. We are busy sorting and discarding. Sorting and Discarding is something we should do in our lives on a continual basis. Lessens the stress in your life considerable. There is much of his stuff I would love to lose. I have the right to say this because at the last house we lived in I dumped probably 1/3 of my stuff and another 1/3

Laurie Good morning...actually pretty late morning for me to be blogging. We were up till midnight last night packing for shipping. I then was reading one of the Oprah books. But errands must occur today first. FEDEX and a trip to Justin TX to pick up some stuff we left behind. The other book I have been reading is entitled HELP, LORD! I'M HAVING A SENIOR MOMENT by Karen OConnor. Terry and I laugh every night when I read the next story. Maybe I can share a few with you. "Dear God, I like this one! An older man from Phoenix phoned his son in New York with some bad news. "Son, I don't mean to ruin your day, but I need to tell you something important
