DETAIL PICTURES Celebrating Color Yesterday morning I woke up in time to watch the leaving of the chapel by William and Kate.  I lingered in bed till almost eight enjoying the cold air creeping in the open windows and watching the news on the wedding.  Terry got up and pulled open the curtains and in flooded the morning light.  It was delightful. It was lovely... it reminded me of waking up at my grandmother's farm in St Louis in the country.  She had white curtains that fluttered on the window in the morning breeze. With light of course comes color. They are woven together permanently bound by God.  You cannot have one without the other.  So when I struggled up

Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

Horse 24 x 30 inches  Oil on Canvas    Sold This is from my painting archives from the fall of 2006. I hope I am able to return to the studio tomorrow.  I have been out with a tummy bug for several days. This is from my laptop in bed!  ©Laurie Pace   Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me: Laurie    In God's Time Well, I am praying this morning will be better than yesterday.  I made it up and moving for about three hours yesterday and then it was back to bed.  Terry grilled some chicken for me and I ate a tiny bit of that and one English Muffin. It will be in His time and not mine. Bless his heart, he ran into town to the store to pick up things and I ask for Popsicles.... and he brought back REAL FRUIT Popsicles which of course are not good to eat.   I hugged him and licked on one for a bit but told him the secret was clear fluid things!  I cannot wait to be better and eat those real fruit bars. Meanwhile... I will probably catch replays of the wedding today and

The Paint Horse Painting by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace, Horse Painting for Sale.

The Paint 20 x 30 inches   Acrylic on Canvas   I am reposting this painting because I probably need to sell it from my studio. We were preparing to take it into Dallas to the Dutch Art Gallery and the canvas got a small rip in it. Terry has patched it beautifully and I have touched up the paint on it.   I will consider a good offer, Email me. Laurie        ©Laurie Pace   Graphics One Design 1998-2011 This is a short blog... I am pretty much under the weather with a tummy bug. I think quite a few of the folks that ate together on Sunday were hit by it...hit me mid day yesterday and still this morning I am weak as a new kitten. Stay strong and stay healthy and stay safe.  Heavy rains, hail and tornadoes have ravaged east Texas moving further to the east doing even more damage. I pray for all in the storm right now that you be safe. Laurie           “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”” - Luke 19:10 My Blog    My Website     Giclees on C

Horse Painting Dark and Light at Sunrise by Texas Contemporary Artist Laurie Pace

Dark and Light at Sunrise Sold 15 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas December 2006     © Laurie Pace   Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me: Laurie       Selfishness    I was reading in a book last night about being selfish in relationships. As always my brain skips ahead to my life and my relationships...especially Terry and I.  Nope neither of us are selfish.   This OBVIOUSLY does not apply to us. Wrong.   The title of the chapter was "Love is not selfish". We do seem to exist in a world that is built around 'self'. We are taught from an early age to care about appearance, our feelings and our desires and goals.  If we want to be happy we have to seek these things. Wrong. This does not work in a relationship with another person.  Still as I read, I was still optimistic that this simply did not apply to Terry and me. We truly serve each other when we see the need.  The chapter continued on to say that almost every sin could be traced back to a selfish motive.

Contemporary Horse Painting Three Horses by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Three Horses I seem to paint a trio picture once a year of these contrasting horses. This abstract horse painting is for my Denver show. It is a nice 36 x 36 inches in size with the painting extending on the wrap canvas 2 inches deep. No frame is needed. 3 ft by 3 ft  Oil on Canvas   © Laurie Pace  Graphics One Design 1998-2011  Contact me: Laurie      Throwing Rocks I once told you how I felt about life that we tend to gather up rocks and stuff them in our pockets. You never know when you will need all those rocks you carry around.  Your load would be much lighter without them. This next story is about rocks but slightly different.  We have a pond out back behind the house. Normally we have mini fishermen and their grandpas instructing them on casting and fishing.   Last week there was a little boy with a small sailboat on the bank.  He was so excited placing the boat into the water and realized there was not much wind so he splashed the water making waves and the little

Abstract Horse Painting Delta Greek Series by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Delta A new horse in my Greek Series.  I guess I had Easter Morning on my mind with the colors I chose for this one. In the true abstract sense of play, this unique Horse Painting powers in with color and patterns very much like Omega and Beta.   24 x 30 inch  Acrylic on Canvas    © Laurie Pace   Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact Me: Laurie         The Promise Yesterday when I was researching some things I came across a very interesting story/comparison on a website.  First, I think you know that God has a tendency in all the written records in the Bible to take a shining to sinners and bring them right around to Him. Over and over again the bible is filled with stories like this. God has the ability to bring us all to our knees. Have you ever heard of a berkutchi ?  I had not...not ever.  A berkutchi is an bird trainer.  In Asia there are men that train eagles for hunting.  First they must capture a young eagle to tame it and train it.  Eagles have a life span of 40 y

Contemporary Horse Painting, Moon Over The River Abstract Horse Painting by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Moon Over the River 3 ft by 4 ft  Oil on Canvas Not totally sure I am done with this Horse Painting. It is part of the series Over the River and no it is not Little Red Riding Hood!  Playing with colors and contrast and light, throw in reflections and thick buttery oil paints and you can come up with a nice Abstract Horse Painting.        © Laurie Pace     Graphics One Design 1998-2011 contact me: Laurie         Oh Say Can You See? Yes I can see . I can already see things I want to add and relocate on this painting, so I know it will be in the studio for finishing up next week. We have arrived at Easter weekend and Lent as come to an end.  Thursday we marked the remembrance of Jesus with his walk to the hill top carrying a heavy cross, to which they nailed him in the worst punishment of crucifixion. Can you close your eyes and for just a split second image the depth of pain and suffering Jesus endured for us? Terry was speaking yesterday of what happened to those that b

Contemporary Horse Painting FULL MOON by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Full Moon This deviates from all the reds I have been painting.  Purple is my favorite color so I decided to use it in this elegant night horse painting.  I used both a palette knife and a wide brush working on this one. It may or may not be done... I will only post it again if I do make major changes.  She is really pretty in person. Soothing and quiet...SHHH  you can here her hooves in the water breaking the silence of the moon. 20 x 30  Oil on Canvas    © Laurie Pace  Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me: Laurie   You Can Get Glad Just like you Got Mad or Sad. Quoting my awesomely wise father-in-law, Ben, who we lost last September... I have to jump in on this one this morning.  Change is inevitable. Change is constant. Change is not always what we want. Change occurs every single second of our life. Change is not sad, nor is change happy.  Change is only Change. Do you meet the changes and challenges in your life with a positive attitude? It is strictly your at

Abstract Horse Painting White Stallion by Contemporary Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace, Summer Show at Mirada Fine Art Denver July 2011

White Stallion   3 ft by 4 ft  Oil on Canvas © Laurie Pace  Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me: Laurie Layers of oil cover the original acrylic base. This may be done and it may not be. It is hanging in the drying room and I will address it next week... but this is the progress on this abstract horse painting...the White Stallion. The passion of red played into this horse painting and it is very strong in its presence. This painting is for my show in Denver this summer at Mirada Fine Art. Sharing Prosperity When you read the word prosperity what comes to mind? Money?  Not in our household.  Prosperity refers to the abundance God grants us minute by minute, day by day. Sharing our love with others and exchanging kindnesses  is pure prosperity.    I love smiling at strangers.  Sometimes it is a game to force them to see you and look you in the eyes as you smile a broad grin and say GOOD MORNING. When someone has sick family members it is kind to take food to them. This is

Abstract Horse Painting White Stallion by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace, Spirituality Today

Progression on the White Stallion Here you can watch as I lay up this next painting.  I had dreams of red and dark red and black and a white horse... so I began laying up by layers of acrylic first and then pulling oils across it. This is the beginning of the Abstract Horse Painting, White Stallion. 3 ft by 4 ft  Oil on Canvas         © LAURIE PACE  Graphics One Design 1998-2011 contact me: Laurie Spirituality Today Yesterday I wrote about personal spirituality.  I am going to continue on this one more day.  The word Spirit comes from the Latin word SPIRITUS meaning breath. When you think of 'spirit' is is not of flesh or material body...but of a mental, intellectual or emotional power.  Often people exchange the word spirit and soul as they both are in contrast to the physical body. My visualization of spirituality is the breath of God that has given me life.  Concentrate as you breath in slowly and let the air out slowly. God is filling you with His breath of l

Progress on Crowning the Hill Abstract Horse Painting by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Name Change as I worked.. Progress on Crowning the Hill 4 ft by 4 ft  Oil on Canvas      Not sure if it is done yet, I am still working on it... will take a few weeks to finish it up and two months to dry.  This is a startling visual painting of three horses completed with a palette knife and lots of paint. © Laurie Pace   Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact Me: Laurie  Personal Spirituality? My husband often tells me I live in my world with my rose colored glasses.  I do not like to watch the news. I do not like horror shows, murder mysteries, or noisy gun movies.  I do not like violence.   I live in MY WORLD.  Yes and you live in your world. In my world there is beauty, kindness, sharing, sunshine, rain (when needed) and every person is giving and caring for each other.  That is my perfect world. Some might call it Neverland. It does not exist.  All of us live through horrendous happenings, ugly moments, illness, arguments, failures and we seem to remember those

Uphill Progression of new abstract Horse Painting by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Progression on UpHill Every Day a new layering of colors . As you can see I have sketched out the horses I want in this composition and I have begun working in the background on the blue acrylic.  Now I am painting in Oils. I paint with Holbein Duo oils.  3 ft by 4 ft  Oil on Canvas   © Laurie Pace Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact Me. Laurie      The Daily Journey  aka Daily Layers Both in painting and in life, it seems to evolve in layers. If you think about your life it is filled with events that seem to layer on top of other events.  This is what affects your personality and your outlook on life.  How you 'survive' these layers, 'celebrate' these layers or 'merge' these layers is up to you. Ben Pace always use to say, 'You can get glad just like you got mad.' We are all pretty quick to anger...but he wanted people to realize you can be quick to smile.  I don't think we do that enough. Our lives are lead in such a serious way.  Bil

Uphill Progression of new abstract Horse Painting by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Progression on Uphill Race It all begins... in the studio with an empty canvas and a layering of Golden Arcylics on the white gesso.  From here I will begin sketching. This is the first step as I begin a new painting.   4 ft by 4 ft  Oil on Canvas      © Laurie Pace  Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me: Laurie  Begin Again Every day we have the opportunity to begin again.  Begin anew. We cannot change what happened yesterday or last week.  We can change today and how we face it and how we react to the events of the day. Begin again on this beautiful Sunday morning.  We celebrate Palm Sunday and the journey of Jesus into Jerusalem.  Many were joyous with the thoughts of the moment and the excitement.  Jesus knew in his heart what was ahead.  In life, we do not.  We must trust our Father that He will care for us and see us through whatever journey is there for us today and tomorrow. Celebrate this day; begin again with God in your heart. Laurie           “[
