"A nd Lo I am  with you all the appointed days - Matt 28:20     This morning I was drawn into the thought and reading of the day with Streams of the Desert. It was reflecting on two words, fear and hope.  What do you live with?  I realized immediately I need to redirect my thoughts to remember God has this and I need to stop trying to deal with things my way. Yes I need to have hope, but this hope is based on all He has accomplished through me in my years here on earth. He has never left me behind, he has walked through the shadows as well as my fears.  I must rise above.  His light continues to shine for eac

Family gatherings were the main stay, along with great food, laughter and love.  My mom went the over the limit with thick linen table cloths, fresh flowers, a huge menu of German delights and pies of every flavor. Between my two brothers and Terry and me, our children and later grandchildren, the numbers grew each year!  Do you have great memories of Thanksgiving? What did your family do or how did you celebrate it?  This year will be different... our family is not gathering. We are all staying home. My thanksgiving is perpetual. It is surprising how contented one can be with nothing definite - only a sense of existence. Well, anything for variety. I am ready to try this for the next ten thousand years, and exhaust it. How sweet to think of! my extremities well charred, and my intellectual part too, so that there is no danger of worm or rot for a long while. My breath is sweet to me. O how I laugh when I think of my vague indefinite riches. No run on my bank can drain it, for my wealth is not possession but enjoyment.”  ― Henry David Thoreau From Terry and me...with l
PUPPY LOVE Contemporary Art Daily Painting Dog Schnauzer by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 inches of Oil SOLD Contact me for commission work for Christmas: Laurie I think I am burned out on cooking for awhile. I had everything made but the cornbread stuffing and left that for my eldest son to fix when he got here. It is something that is a no brainer and he actually is a wonderful cook. When he and Jan arrived she and I decided we would work on the tree and I set Justin to work in the kitchen. It only took about 20 min and I had to go assist. What I had forgotten was how totally messy he is. I spent more time cleaning up than I did anything else. I think I clocked in about 12 hours in cooking and clean up. Then when everyone left they took bags full of food and Terry and I will buy another Turkey this weekend so we can have a week of left overs. I told Terry HE could do the cooking! The fresh cranberries were awesome....as was the stuffing. Two of my favorites! I have not had br

Laurie Don't forget to visit my new blog for my new Christian Books, The Lakewood Series. It is early on Thanksgiving. I just got Terry out the door and the dogs already had breakfast. It is 5:45 a.m. as I type this. Yesterday or rather last night, I finished this commission painting for a young couple with two daughters. The mom liked the idea after I sent her the sketches, that it reminded her of the three females in their family, she as the mom and her two daughters. Hence the title, Run with the Girls. Also yesterday I made an organic pumpkin pie; a homemade, hand-cracked pecan pie (Made with real maple syrup NOT corn syrup); fresh organic cranberries with organic navel oranges, organic Pink Lady Apples; Oey Goey St Louis Butter Cake and organic sweet potatoes the old fashion way with brow
