Horses Gathering at Sunrise

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 The Painted Ponies Gathering Three Sunrise Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Each of my painted ponies has a different approach or flair. This is fresh like spring for me and lots of sunlight.  I mentioned yesterday I wanted to share about something that happened Saturday.  We were on our way to our grandson's baseball game and the sky was a beautiful blue and just a handful of clouds. I glanced up and was mesmerized by the clouds and the back lighting and contrast in several of them that were gathered together. Light playfully filtered through. I felt instant joy.  Let me type that again, I felt instant JOY.   We know God gives us challenges. We know He walks before us... with us... and guards behind us . That and only that has sustained us through the last two years marked beginning Oct 5, 2022.  From Oct to the end of Dec was a journey I care ne...

Warm with the Sunrise... God's Promise

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Warm with the Sunrise 18 x 27 Oils on Canvas Just finished this morning! 👉   Available    by Laurie Pace   It has been two years since I painted something over the size of 11 x 14. Usually it was 8 x 10 and I can count on one hand how many of those I painted.  This pretty horse was painted over the last 8-10 days including the drawing, redrawing and contemplation and painting and more painting!  As you know it has been almost 2 full years since I have been actively painting or blogging even. With the illness and death of my mom and my own injury to my right arm, and then a family member struggling... we have been traveling a season that has strengthened our faith. The great sisters in Women Artists of the West , have been a huge healing power in me the last few months. The board members have walked this path with me sharing their times of family death, life challenges, a...

Color Rising with Painted Pony Pulls and Laurie Pace

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2023 Color Rising 24 x 36  Oils on Canvas SOLD    by Laurie Pace   Shop other Available Artwork.  Sign up for my quarterly newsletter and painting sales. When the sun rises... the first light of day has not broken through the deep mist of night and the quiet tones across the landscape.  When it does make that push upward and light fills in between the leaves, grass, gardens etc... the earth is alive with color!  Same with these horses I entitled Color Rising. Layers of color and overlays create this entire painting, keeping part of the realism and losing to abstract shapes throughout the horses. The Painted Pony Pulls! Should I paint more of them? Triggered by color and thick buttery oils, they have been the life dream of painting since 2002. Picking up a palette knife and starting to lay color up is always exciting. Sometimes I will use a tube of paint and dot mark...

By Dawn's Early Light... Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2020 By Dawn's Early Light  by Laurie Pace - Sold.  Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   This was back a few years... like 11 years maybe.  The colors are mesmerizing to me with the contrast of of night and day as the colors of cool are replaced with the warmth of light. There is something here to build on in this painting and it may trigger a new piece this next week.  “When she returned, he would take great delight in showing her how much he loved the morning, when the air held a tang of freshness and the early light dispelled all shadows.” Karen Hawkins Isn't that amazing... 'the air held a tang of freshness'.  I can imagine that in every season as the sun wakes the day and the night is pushed away.  This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! What is ahead on your day?  Find something joyfu...

I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” Frank Herbert . DUNE In nature and in life, there are startling moments where we turn our heads and look.  Not sure what this horse turned to take in, but I love the play of rich colors painted through that turn of his head.  Was it the braying of his mate, or the call of danger lurking nearby? What would be your story or thoughts? “ And so that you may be able to give to your son and t...

Ramblings of Sunrise and the New Day.

Ellepace.com    © +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 “Not knowing when the dawn will come I  open every door.” Emily Dickinson Found this simple photo of a lake with an early sunrise in Finland.  It brought a quiet peace to my heart and soul. If I could wish that for each of you, I would.  Imagine the cold in these woods as the photographer came upon the lake early in the morning. The dark clouds breaking up as the sun breaks through with soft oranges and pinks. I know he paused before the shutter clicked, and he felt the magnificence of the arrival of day, just like a new baby being born... the tiny head rotating out first before the next push brings the full birth.  A new day offers new birth to opportunities, new horizons, new experiences, a chance to start again, to discover something new and live another day. It brings hope. It matters not if you are in Finland, the United States, Japan,...
