FEMALE CARDINAL 5 x 7 inches oil on panel A Painting A Day Short and sweet. Painted this sweetheart yesterday and it will go up to my show in NY with a book.... I have but 40 min to shower, walk the dogs, eat and leave for my morning class! SO this is a quick blog this morning. Forgive someone today, even if it is yourself. Grace, Laurie PS Don I am still praying for your flights and calm weather. “Then the Lord said, ‘I do forgive, just as you have asked.’”—Numbers 14:20
CELEBRATION LIFE 30 X 30 inches Oil on Canvas NOT LISTED ON EBAY for another week. Contact me if you are interested. This is painted in the same style as the horse I did last week, but the colors on this painting are deeper and more intense in personality. The strength is not only in the brush strokes, but the color as well. I did not intentionally start out with the head the same direction, I just began painting! Need to think opposite. Today is house cleaning, dog washing and all those fun things! Especially when it is still hard to move my neck. Terry can't do anything yet. He hopes to go back to work next week. We will see. Be happy, whole, peaceful and secure in the Love of the Lord. Laurie “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”—Proverbs 16:24
CALL OF THE WILD 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day CLICK the painting to see it close up! SOLD Thursday did not find me in the studio today. We left for Dallas early this morning to attend the wake and memorial service for Terry's aunt. We are just now arriving home at 10:30 pm, but are back in our little passat. More tomorrow. CALL of the Wild was painted over the past seven days with SEVERAL layers of paint, pulled by the palette knife...It is an evolving painting! Many things to find as you survey the piece! Grace, Remember God paves the way! Laurie “Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.”—Matthew 21:22
SUMMER RED 22 x 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Today I puttered around the studio painting. Tomorrow we are going to Terry's Aunt's memorial service. I am growing weary of the car...but at least we are back in our Passat. No it is not as perfect as it was. We learned that insurance companies use reprocessed parts from Junk yards. EEEk, my baby was pristine...now she is part junkyard. Doesn't make me smile...but she feels good inside and drives okay. We have a few issues with the lights etc and the trunk, so there is more to be done, but I am not sure how or who is responsible. It rained massively here again today. It is even flooding in our little town. I am posting late today...off to shower and then a good book! Grace, Laurie “‘Quickly, bring out a robe—the best one—and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. … for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found!’ And they began to celebrate.”—Luke 15:22, 24
MOOING into Summer 18 x 18 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day SOLD CONTACT ME for a similar commission piece! Tuesday brings my MOOOving into Summer to the blog. She was painted on Sunday! I rarely do cows, they are better done by Diane Whitehead . But with my summer series of COLORS OF SUMMER, I had to have one! Back to our GP today and hopefully Terry can return to work soon. PT starts in about a week. My hand is doing a bit better as I can type and hope to return to painting full time this next week. Between my neck and hand, it has slowed me down considerably, enough that I will not be shipping as many completed pieces to NY. With faith filled enthusiasm accept God's plan and good for your life. Laurie Keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.”—1 Kings 2:3
HILLS ONE 2007 22 X 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Monday morning! I have posted Hills One 2007. Last summer I did a series of these and they were popular....just for the fun of it, I painted one this year. In fact last year they were so popular that I ended up doing a huge commission piece 3 by 4 feet! They are a delight to paint and fun to view! Today are trips to the Doctor and then home...Would really like my right had to straighten out. Typing HURTS!! This week I have to finish up the New York pieces for shipping next week, so I will be busy doing edges and varnishing! Rest in God's Peace Laurie “To set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.”—Romans 8:6
REFLECTIONS 15 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day COLOR COLOR COLOR abounds in this impressionistic landscape that shouts to me JOY and GLORY in God's creation! A wide brush loaded and wiped with thick oils creates the texture and impressions in this one. Today we get to sit and watch our youngest son load the uhaul with boxes we packed before we were in the car accident. They are going into storage to par down the clutter in the house as we put it on the market with MUCH PRAYER today. I am NOT looking forward to the trip across Dallas pulling the uhaul. Yesterday we attended classes with Covenant Kids. The education they give should be passed out to ALL new parents. Terry and I have learned so much in these sessions. Yesterday we learned a restrain hold that really doesn't hurt. It will take practice to get it down, but we figured it would work on any person if you so needed it. Off to fix breakfast! Have a wonderful day and celebrate life today. Harmonize with
THE POWER OF THREE Three Canvas 18 x 27 inches totaling 54 x 27 inches hanging Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD SOLD SOLD Contact me for a commission piece. Laurie Pace Saturday morning and I am preparing to paint for a short time. This painting was worked on all through this last week. It began with a simple vision and I normally do not paint across separate canvas, but this time I did. The paints are extra thick and the colors are a contrast. From the wild I present "the power of three". Not much on the schedule this weekend as we stay mostly at home staying out of traffic and where we can sit and move as we need to. Thanks for all your prayers! They have helped to sustain us, along with the grace of the Lord! Grace, Laurie “And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”—Matthew 28:20
Summer Doors 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Friday Friday...but I painted this one on Wednesday! This is one of my seascape cityscapes done with the colors of summer and bright doors on each of the buildings on the water. THICK deep paint mixed with impasto creates a rugged surface across the canvas. Today I will be attempting to work in the studio. Terry will be resting most of the day. Have a peace filled mind and a faith filled heart and simple trust in the Lord for divine order. Grace, Laurie “He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure.”—2 Samuel 23:5
Chicago Bound Texas Longhorn 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD COMMISSION WORK I just finished this commission piece for a Texan now living in Chicago. Can you guess they went to UT? This was a peaceful painting for me as I am beginning to get back into my grove of painting. My right hand is still sore but much more functional than it was. This is one of my pull paintings as I pull color through the surface of the canvas using impasto mixed with the oil...then the longhorn emerges! The paint is again close to 1/4 inch in some places! Today is my MRI. OPEN MRI, but the man said it would still be noisy...I am not smiling as I woke with a migrane today. We cannot eat either...having blood drawn in an hour so I can't have a cup of hot peppermint tea. More later...meanwhile be a good steward today...care for all God has given you, the people in your life, your home, the animals....God gives so much to us, every single second...remember to give thanks! Grace, Laurie
Coming Up Roses 22 x 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD SOLD SOLD THANKS!!!! This painting is at the New York Gallery in Penn Yan. I have placed a few of these pieces on sale in my eBay store to clear them out before I go up for my show in mid July. This is a gorgeous painting with thick paint and delightful colors! Check it out. Raining again as we woke up this morning. We were suppose to have our neighbor come mow the acre...Terry definitely can't do it...and now sogginess sets in! LOL....I will be cleaning today and painting this afternoon later. No medical tests today. My MRI is tomorrow. Anyone out there had an OPEN MRI? What is it like? Terry was NOT fond of the closed MRI, decided he would skip that one next time, despite the HANK WILLIAMS they played to try and cover up the noise of the electronic magnets. I stumbled out of bed at 4:30 this morning as the storm hit to give ANNIE ( the dog) her half of pill to get through the storm. She gets the shakes rea
IN HER GARDEN 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day The day marks on the calendar as Tuesday. Yesterday I was busy with the New York Gallery sorting what was coming and going. This is a beautiful painting that is there at the gallery that is now listed in my store on eBay. Click here. It is offered at a tremendous price for the quality of the painting! Enjoy! Today Terry has his MRI series...two on his back. I am moaning this morning, have tingles and numbness in my upper left shoulder and my neck is worse on that side too, so something is still not right. My MRI is on Thursday. Despite it all Terry and I are filled with Joy that we are alive! Grace, Laurie “And all the people went up following him, playing on pipes and rejoicing with great joy.”—1 Kings 1:40
Father's Day in Blue 24 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Thick buttery Oils applied with a palette knife....gorgeous colors play in contrast as the true strength of a stallion emerges across the canvas. The paint is very thick....applied in 1/4 inch thickness in many places! Monday today. We have to manage loading the dogs to get them to the vet to get their stitches out....other than that it will be a quiet day here! Typing is painful so my blog will be short. I have to type with my left hand and that is slower...LOL Enjoy your day and give thanks for everything that surrounds you. Grace, Laurie “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”—Matthew 19:14
ROSES IN BLOOM ON BLUE 12 X 12 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day This painting was completed on Saturday. My right had is so sprained from the car wreck I am struggling to paint very large. It is done with a huge brush, thick paint and lots of color! There are quite a few layers of paint on the flowers! FATHER'S DAY. Rainy and full of love here. We pulled our aching bodies from bed and tolerated the hour trip into Dallas in torrential rains. I wanted to turn back and go climb back in bed, but my true dear hubby pushed onward despite his lower back and major headache. We Thoroughly enjoyed visiting Eastridge Christian Church and hearing the wonderful message based on the father of the prodigal son. It sank in near and dear to the heart you might say. We declined any reasonable thought of Sunday School and stopped to hug friends there and headed to my mom's to collapse and rest before taking them to lunch. Lunch was at Mainstream where we had a good group of both Dad&#
CLOUDS Oil on Panel 6 x 6 inches A Painting a Day Saturday has brought rain to the area again and it blends right with our muddled brain. I do believe our brain took three hits last week and is not functioning! We have MRI's scheduled for next week and are still moving slow. I seem to have sprained my right hand and painting and typing is very painful, so this will be short. Clouds is a small piece painted earlier but never posted on the blog. Since we are doing the marathon thing, I will post no matter what. Oh, I almost forgot...my new book is ready on Lulu. This book is for my New York Show at Earth Works Art Gallery. This painting is in it, along with many more from this spring. The cover painting is available still as well. Click here for Book. Click here for Calendar that goes from Sept 2007 to Dec 2008. Grace to all, Laurie “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”—Exodus 33:14 Definitely God speaking to me again.....
DOUBLE TIME Oil on Panel 6 x 6 inches A Painting a Day Friday, Friday, Friday. This painting was done on Thursday. With the muscle pain I am not able to paint very much and with this I could sit and paint! I believe I was able to capture the movement and joy of color and energy even on this small board panel. My car has made it to the auto repair shop. It is a tough baby and we should know something hopefully late today on its repair. Meanwhile we are working on our repair. Terry basically limped through a two day course he had been scheduled to take four months ago. He was in pain sitting and sitting and then trying to move around out in the sun. It has been a laugh trying to find a doctor to see us. When it is associated with an accident NO one will see you. What is wrong with this picture??? So I have been turned down by our Primary Care Physician, the doctor in our town, the Orthopedic Team the ER referred us to and now I am on hold for another clinic and they can only see
CHILD IN THE PARK 5 x 7 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting A Day BABY BLUES!!! This was working from a photo of my grandson Jonathan. It is a tiny painting, and I really need to shoot it from my tripod. I may replace this photo with a better one. I had fun studying the light and working with the colors and TRYING not to put colors in that are traditionally in your head, but only using tones of what you actually see!!! I am stiff this morning. Will be having a wrecker pick my car up and tow it to the FIX IT SHOP. They do not think it is too bad, but want to get it up on a rack. We chose to take it to our neighbors body shop knowing it is an honest shop and they do wonderful work, but it is on the opposite side of Ft Worth from us! Hope your Thursday is full of Grace and His love. Grace to you, Laurie “For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”—Galatians 5:1
REBIRTH 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Okay, I am moving slow and typing even slower! More about that in a minute. This is a painting I finished on Sunday. I will be painting some smaller pieces this week and some more midsize...but this was a celebration of life and color. TODAY as I paint I WILL CELEBRATE LIFE and GIVE PRAISE FOR IT!!! Yesterday was a day and a day and a half rolled into one. I went for lessons on the MAC and have a whole bunch of new stuff to learn! YEAH. Stopped at Starbucks for Terry to get an coffee thing and I saw Paul McCartney's new CD...had to have it and I LOVE IT! My new theme song is "I DON'T WANT TO COME DOWN". You would have to hear it to understand it, but like hiding up in a tree and no one can see you and then someone spots you and says you have to do something and then a hundred others appear and they are all wanting something and you cry out I don't want to come down!....My husband chose the song GRATITUDE.
TIGHT TURN Oil on Canvas 18 x 27 inches A Painting A Day Click here to bid! It is MONDAY shipping day. Terry is out in the garage, totally sprayed down with Organic Bug Spray with LOTS of citronella in it! HUMMM, smells good! We were up early this morning, I think it was five, and we enjoy the quiet together with good drink, he had hot coffee with Bailey's Irish creme and I had peppermint tea! We still have not had breakfast yet and it is nine a.m. I will be stirring something up in a few minutes...he is out making boxes!~ Texas heat has turned my painting time inside out!! But the painting above is soft and lively despite the outside temperatures. Painted from some photos I took last fall, this little girl is out for a romp. When I paint I want my horses to explode with action and color...for you to FEEL the energy coming from them through my painting! Grace to you all, Laurie “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”—P
Peonies Popping 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day The painting above I finished this morning. It is thick paint and will take weeks to dry, but I had fun rejoicing in the music and the day as I painted and it definitely shows that! I have had such warm wonderful conversations with so many of you that read my blog and I have never met you in person. I thank all of you that write me about the different paintings enabling me to sell directly from this blog. THANK YOU!!! It is Saturday. It started with rushing Annie to the vet...she had torn stitches in one of her larger incisions. Thanks goodness the vet was open and the race had not started at the Texas Motor Speedway or I would be stuck away from our house. Not sure how Terry will get home this afternoon. He arrives usually around four, well the gates open at Four at the TMS....and the roads will be JAMMED. Annie is doing great. Stacey went with me because I still cannot use my left arm with my injured rotator cuff.
A NEW DAY 22 X 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Click here to bid. Painting is listed on eBay. FRIDAY is here....storms are on their way...I have several things sketched out on my canvas this morning and eager to paint! My dad is doing fantastic after some adjustments with his heart yesterday. Mom seems relieved so hopefully she will rest easier this weekend! Last night I cleaned out two hall closets and piled books in boxes for Half Price Books. Also finished adding music to my Itunes from all my CD's that I paint by and now will have MANY tunes to listen to instantly with out shuffling plastic boxes around. Last night I fixed a late dinner for us...part of the RICE DIET we are on....no rice though. I made a recipe for black bean and corn salad witha sweet sour spicey sauce on it. I served it on lettuce with fresh tomatoes from our garden! YUMMMMM. I caught Terry eating ice cream an hour later and informed him that ice cream WAS NOT on the Rice Diet. But I have lost
PICASSO PONY Acrylic on Canvas A Painting a Day Maybe I should have entitled this BAD HAIR DAY!~ Actually played with this one several weeks ago trying out some new underlays with impasto....and in person it is pretty cool. I set it in the dry room and forgot about it. I found it last night and decided I loved the movement after all! Today I am going to finish up some red flowers that are a commission piece and start a new piece exploring another area in painting that I dabbled in last year in the spring. I am anxious to push new limits and explore more. Here is something interesting I read this morning: Something to think and pray about this week There is a story from the desert fathers. A certain brother came to the abbot Moses seeking a word from him. The old man said, "Go and sit in your cell, and your cell will teach you everything." The ability to sit still, in silence, with nothing except the silence (not even a mobile phone or the sound of music), really does frig
ARABIAN BEAUTY 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Wednesday....I should be in Dallas this morning with my mom...more tests, but she really wanted to do this one alone. I believe my sister-in-law is going to taxi her back and forth. SO, I will paint paint paint. Have corresponded with several collectors about my trips this summer and the shows. I know in August Terry and I will hit the road and go west! Not sure what will happen with a painting a day, but will do my best. Might be in acrylic over that time period...but everyone needs a vacation don't they? This beauty was painted this weekend. She is based on a burnt orange background, truly Southwest Colors of Summer. Fun with a bit of impressionism and love! Hope your day goes well. Grace, Laurie “God gave Solomon very great wisdom, discernment, and breadth of understanding as vast as the sand on the seashore.”—1 Kings 4:29
Summer Rain Poppies 2007 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day We are off to Grapevine and the bank in a few minutes. I just finished this HUGE 30 X 30 inch Poppies in the rain. I did one similar last year and loved the colors playing in it and decided to do a similar one. It is emotional! The palette was three different reds, orange, yellow, marigold, white, leaf green, yellow green and sap green. I threw in a bit of Blue Violet as well. To me the flowers seem to be floating and dancing!!! My dad has been struggling with some heart rhythm issues but hopefully this will be resolved this week. I know the stress on my Mom is doubled right now. Please keep them in prayer. DOGS, they are home. Paddy had his FIX ME surgery yesterday and he doesn't even realize he is missing part of his anatomy. Annie on the other hand, had five large cysts removed and at age 8 she is moving slowly and not really happy! The vet did give us HAPPY pills for her when the storms blow throug
HORSES OF MANY COLORS 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD SOLD SOLD off the Daily Painters Site! A Painting a Day We have been busy with packing and shipping today...this is a painting I finished up yesterday after all the storms rolled through. I am struggling to catch up. Currently I am finishing up my book for Earth Works Gallery Show and have to still design the cover...then pick up one dog at the vet that had minor surgery....Annie. Paddy, our male, has to spend the night. He is being "Fixed". We pick him up tomorrow. Hopefully we will make it in to Fed Ex later this afternoon or early evening. The kids came for dinner yesterday. We grilled outside hamburgers, and I made German Potato Salad, corn on the cob etc. Oh yes, even deviled eggs! Today I have a standing rib roast in the oven and we will eat left overs with the rib roast. Hope your week has started out well. Grace, Laurie “When I remember you in my prayers, I always thank my God because I hear of your love
Bay Morning 18 X 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day. It is a glorious Sunday morning. Last night Terry and I drove into Dallas to attend an organ concert at St Paul United Church of Christ on Lover's Lane. It is an old German Congregation that has been in existence over 125 years I believe. The organ is a unique pipe organ. It is especially unique because it is in a small church, but it is unbelievable in sound. The guest artist was Bradley Welch . Born in Tennessee, he now lives in Dallas and is quite accomplished. Yes, we bought a CD and yes I will be painting by organ music this week. This is also the church Terry and I were married in many years ago. The posted painting was finished yesterday. It is heavily layered with paint and may take awhile to cure! But I had fun with the colors and the play of contrasts through out the painting. Today I am working on a commission piece...one is hydrangea for an upcoming anniversary gift. The hubby saw my last piece and graci
GIFT OF THE EVENING 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day It is Saturday. I have been up painting and finishing up several pieces and this is one of them. Very thick paint and a delicious palette of color~! I was having a heart to heart with one of my collectors up north, Charlene, and we were visiting about different paintings and how some come naturally and easily and some are a pain. Usually the artist is in the way of work that struggles. Letting go and allowing the inner spirit to come through is difficult at times. Another thorn in the side of creativity is the old thought of competition...trying to paint and sell as someone else does...nothing good ever comes of that. An artist must turn inward to discover who they are. They must allow the creativity from inside to ooze out at will and not try to be someone else or create work like someone else. Dare to be different and be yourself. God created the best in each of us and we must simply allow that to come forward a
OPENING 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day It is Friday. I have been painting since seven, then walked a mile, ate my oatmeal and was preparing to start another painting, but have decided to make a fast trip into Dallas to maybe have lunch with my parents. Mom phoned to say Dad was a little under the weather. I have several pieces sketched out on the canvas ready to go when I return and I will probably be painting all weekend! INSPIRED!!! Truly Inspired. The sunflower opening was so deep as I worked...the small tidbits of color making up the inner core of the flower reminded me of people in a room or in a city...all different colors and strokes, all different but together making up the central portion of the flower. Then you have the petals stretching open, greeting the sun of the new day.... a new life, a new beginning, a new time...a new age, a new journey. As I finished it I wasn't sure I liked it. As it has hung next to my computer desk I have become deep with i
