It was an exciting five days of competition in one of the most beautiful places in New York in the Hudson River Valley. We drove up from East Texas to enjoy the festivities and Kimberly and Don Conrad flew in from Denver to join us. We were allowed access to areas by the jumpers to film and photograph the horses, we attended many of the extra curricular activities, and we met up with other artists and painters living in that area that we knew from online at The Daily Painters.  It was a tremendous trip. The Conrads joined us at an open field concert by John Fogerty where we sat under cloudy skies with soft rains and occasional bursts of stars.  We spent hours driving the country side for views of the Hudson River

Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn’t it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it? This is how I answer when I am asked—as I am surprisingly often—why I bother to get up in the mornings.” ― Richard Dawkins I write of color tonight as the world around us is filled with color...both silent color and high bright noisy color. Reading the quote I found that I am in agreement on finding the beauty all throughout the day and night.  The painting above has the high intensity colors contrasting beautifully

This painting, A Swirl of Dreams, is in the holding process !  Meaning I worked on it two or three weeks, adding layer after layer and I think I am done, but I have to watch it for a few days!  Every child, and especially little girls, like to twirl and swirl in circles.  The world blurs to colors and light and creates a joyful place to dream. Do you Dream? I always was a dreamer and I loved to read... today I have been diving into a book called 27,000 Steps by Sara Thurman... it is an Epic Marriage Story guided in faith by leaving a legacy. The book is linked to Amazon if you click it.   I am only four chapters in and somehow at the same time reading an article about  ... are you ready?   The Power of Narrative to Heal by James Sale.

" John 10:10 The Stolen Artwork The year was 2010 It was really called "The Get Away"   and to have it really be 'stolen away' was astonishing. My work was delivered to a gallery in Santa Fe, where several other artists I knew were represented. It was a little bit quirky but seem fine as one of the artists was an Artist of Texas and I had known her quite a few years.  The gallery had on and off problems but I did get paid for sales... then the owner had to travel and left someone there at the gallery... then due to health reasons it was closing and they sent my unsold work back, but no "The Get Away" .  I truly loved this painting. It is

This was part of a painting that began as two horses sketched on a canvas... paint applied and knifed around... and this beautiful contemporary horse emerging. Some days I was unsure of direction.  When everything in our world is upside down and the very places and family you find comfort with you cannot visit... you are left with 1000 piece puzzles and many hours of TIME.  With the shutdown, many of my galleries have closed.  Do I keep painting?  Then you start looking at yourself in the mirror every morning for over 120 plus days without makeup, and you begin to  ....
