It will be in the low twenties by tomorrow night.  Me, I hope to finish cleaning up the studio and the rest of the house. I did half of it yesterday....slowly slowly. Contemporary Fine Art International has been growing steadily.  We have been visiting on the vision for the future and setting up our goals accordingly.  We are still setting up the United States individual state blogs for

'Appaloosa Small' 5 x 7  Oil on Canvas SOLD from the Blog today! Thank you!! Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 I have fought it long enough and decided to start putting small paintings up for sale. Usually by now I have more accomplished and off to Galleries but with the Artist of Texas show and all our family things this fall, I am behind.  It is good for you though to pick up some small pieces at good prices.  I am going to continue doing horses but want to work larger again. The small ones lack the loose freedom I have with the palette knife.   I painted this afternoon and finished two more small ones you will see over the next few days. It is growing dreary with rain outside and is suppose to be cooler this weekend.  I love this weather!  Terry finished painting our bedroom yesterday and next step will be drapes to finish it up.  He has really worked hard on all th

Lady C Mixed Media on Canvas Abstract Horse painting by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010  " The story concerns a young married woman, Constance (Lady Chatterley), whose upper-class husband, Clifford Chatterley, has been paralyzed and rendered impotent. Her sexual frustration leads her into an affair with the gamekeeper, Oliver Mellors. This novel is about Constance's realization that she cannot live with the mind alone; she must also be alive physically." 'Desert Sun' 30 x 40  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website     Painted Ponies    Morning has broken with reflections of yesterday and our trip.   The first word that came to mind as we drove north/northwest was the word obstacles. Driving up to Bogota from Mt Vernon is about 25 miles from our place. We then turn northwest toward Paris Texas.  That is where it came to mind.  Two lane road with speed limit of 70.  We are behind a truck pulling a very very large red combine on a trailer.  He kept trying to pull partially off on the side of the road but oncoming traffic was too thick to chance it.  We got around him finally and then we encountered someone's new house ( Modular home) being trucked up Hwy 271.  Not only did you have the truck pulling the long trailer bed with the house on it..(It had a pretty green roof and shutters) you had a follow truck with blin

Progress on Four Abreast 30 x 40  Oil on Canvas SOLD ALREADY! Thank you. Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 I was so ready to be out of the office last night at eight. I had been in the office since 6:30 yesterday morning... but the effort brought about the birth of a new website, actually two...but one is not done yet. This was something that actually took about 48 hours almost in a row. The first one was to revamp the site www.ContemporaryFineArtInternational.com .      This is a site owned by Kimberly Conrad out of Colorado.  She, Diane Whitehead , Judy Mackey , Mary Jo Zorad, Pam Van Londen , Amy Tuso and I have all been laboring over putting together state daily painting blogs.  The result was to combine into a site Kim started last year and go full tilt. It will take weeks and months to get everything fully up and running, but there is much to see.  To find all the state artists, you will

Progress with Four Abreast 30 x 40 Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 Terry came blowing through the door late yesterday afternoon, dripping wet and full of grass, sweat and tears.   Probably could add mosquitoes, ticks and other various things as well.   "I would rather wash my truck." he bellowed as he grabbed some old towels. He had been outside giving Paddy a bath and a hair cut. For two and a half hours.  Who would have thought one mid sized dog could cause so much ruckus?  Personally I would have bathed him in the walk-in shower, but living out here in the country, critters seem to jump on other larger critters for faster transportation or for a food snack.  I am out on that so bathing Paddy is on Terry's agenda list. About an hour later I walked out of the the office to get some water and both of them were back in the house.   The dog is literally jumping aro

Beginnings of Four Abreast 30 x 40  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website     On Golden Pond Blog The beginning of a painting is always a hesitation.   The drawing is not.... is usually flows from the charcoal to the canvas and then I step back to see what I have done. God must have paused on and off often to see what His different creations looked like from a step back. Do we do that in life too?  The part about jumping in and doing and then hesitating and stepping back?  I can honestly say on this painting I prayed over it before I began.   Even then the hesitation was there because I was doubting myself, not doubting God.    Prayer first and action second. It saves a lot of time. Laurie Behold the beauty of the Lord.--Psalm 27:4

In fact before we left I had order and received CS5 Adobe, a new tripod (The other one died), paint from my supply store, books from Amazon...two different orders, and canvas from California.  Still outstanding were two gifts I had order

This was one of two I was working on. The first one was rather small and I can post it this week, but this one is beginning to work for me. Is it done? I don't know yet. Life at the Lake:  It rained again!  We need to get our boat into storage for the next few weeks and are waiting for a day with wind and no rain.  It was a slow day yesterday for us...although I painted most of the day working on a new approach to the canvas.  When you do something new it takes months to grow with it to a comfortable level.  I think life is that way with everything.  Experience matters.  The more experience you have the stronger you are at that particular thing...be it painting, playing basketball or being a wife or

'Last Push' 30 x 30  Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  I love this approach to the canvas. It is probably my favorite.  Fresh and ready for a new home and just finished today. The Thought: I remember in the old days it was common for someone in an interview when I was modeling to say,  "If you could only take one makeup item with you on a long trip, what would it be?"  Of course at my younger age I always answered  "Mascara".   It makes your eyes pop out. I challenge you to be limited and resourceful and come up with the three BEST adjectives to describe yourself.  ONLY THREE.  At least I didn't say one... I am giving you some flexibility. There are hundreds and hundreds to chose from...both negative and positive, but I want you to find the best three that are positive that describe you. Laurie     "Honor your father and your m

As we are in the midst of packing and moving you will have some paintings of old.  The Thought: I am late blogging this morning due to exhaustion.  We were busy yesterday helping Justin and Tara with their move to their new home south of Arlington.  They have a beautiful new house to fill with their love and dreams and we were happy to be apart of that start up you might say.  We literally didn't eat all day yesterday until seven thirty last night; I don't want to do that again. By this late in the morning sleeping in, I almost feel more tired than if I was up early doing.  I will probably feel 'behind' all day.  Even though this Blog will go up two hours late hopefully that does not mean my day will run two hours late all day.  I will miss every appointment I have

If there is one layer of paint there are at least 8 layers or more. Here is Mac's finished painting for the contest: And THANKS to ASEL ART RICHARDSON to Jim for donating the canvas to Mac. The Thought :   Layers in life.  How many layers do you have?   I remember when I hit fifty it was a WOW moment of realizing how long I had been alive and how very much I had done in my fifty years. From a tiny child first growing up in St Louis MO... transplanted to the heat and humidity of Dallas at age four... my first shock was living in an apartment complex and bunking in the same room with my 8 year old brother.  Culture shock on steroids between the move and the sharing of the room. Then layers of years of piano lessons and drawing and pa

The Thought:   The trigger finger... Terry has been teaching me to shoot a gun over the past year, altho I have not pulled a trigger in about 7 months...I hope to shoot again and learn more. I did not like shooting at the range because of the noise level. It was deafening. I look forward to starting back up again in the country. Triggers ... what are triggers in your life?  What are those things that cause an immediate reaction in your temperament or demeanor?  There is something for all of us, that triggers an emotio

'Desert Wind' 20 x 20 Acrylic on Canvas SOLD THANK YOU! Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Acrylic may be the paint of choice as we put our house on the market this next weekend.  I do not have Hanging Walls any more! Terry has everything touched up and painted. This is a pretty acrylic with lots of three dimensional paint. The Thought:   Have you ever asked anyone for a letter of recommendation?  What goes into a letter someone might write about you?  Could you write one for yourself?  Many folks stretch the truth on their resumes and then want friends to take the stretch in the letters of recommendation.   When you are on the other end and you are hiring someone, how can you trust what is in those letters? Can you trust them? Paul never needed 'letters' to explain who he was and what he was doing. His teaching spoke for itself as he reached the hearts of many with the love of Jes

Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This painting was finished in 2006.  I was contacted by the Peak to Peak Appaloosa Organization for permission to use the painting on their cover.  I am honored.  When they sent the Copy of the Directory to me, I was further surprised with a full page inside article on my art work: The Thought:   I am still thanking God repeatedly for the power being back on.   I am sure in a few weeks my thanks will slow down to once a day, but meanwhile it is almost every ten minutes a prayer of thanksgiving. I remember lying in bed on the cold nights shivering and bone cold despite blankets and Terry's usually warm body next to me.  He was cold too.  I would be in prayer acknowledging the situation and praying for the men and women out in the cold trying to restore power for a

'The Piercing Night' LARGE COLORFUL HORSE Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'The Piercing Night' 30 x 40 inches  Oil on Canvas SOLD COMMISSIONED PAINTING Contact me to commission a painting. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting :  Well, this collector liked a painting I did last year called "in the Heat of the Night." I strictly do not like to try to recapture paintings as it is virtually impossible with contemporary art to do that. A realistic painting you can do it....but not with expressionism.  I decided I liked the horses better on the 30 x 40 inch spread allowing them a bit more space in development.   The Thought:   Well, I promised to share this morning, so here goes.   Ken Vaughan graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1970 with Terry and I.  He was one of the founders (with me) of the art club, and I want to say the first president.  We named the club "Arabesque" which they dropped somewhere along the way. So much for respecting the founders.... Ken has been so good to me

'Spirit Sun Dance' Colorful Horse Equine Art Daily Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Spirit Sun Dance' 10" x 10" (25.4cm x 25.4cm) Oil on Canvas SOLD  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  After painting the Warrior of Old this weekend...and it selling today, I decided to try this approach to the canvas again. It is ever so important for an artist to continue to stretch their minds to climb out of the "box" that holds them into new areas...and NOT areas already being explored and sold by other artists...but new areas. It is truly hard to be original with out having a bit of "other artists" touching in your work, but it truly should be a spiritual experience as you work on your pieces...a passion and a love from your heart.  So embrace my newest in this small pieces of this Gallery Series Spirit of the Equine. The Thought : Terry is still home with pneumonia.  We continue to work on that puzzle we started before Christmas and I believe we might have it completed this week. Looks like we lost one

Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: This sums it up... looking up for the New Year and what is too come.  Searching for my highest good. The Thought: Do you know your highest good?   Despite all the electronic gadgets we have, do we actually know our own highest good?  We track each other around by cell phone all day texting or talking;  we use navigational aids to find our destination and plot our best route. Yesterday I spent three hours at two different Verizon stores getting Crystal's phone fixed.   A new one is on the way, but we had to fight our way through technology and a long waiting game at the second Verizon store. We got Ben updated with a new phone today too.  He had one of those hot battery things going. That is never good.  What do we have to figure this out in our journey of life? There is no road map. There is not

Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting:  The background does not show up well here at all...but it is really pretty in warm blacks fading into beautiful periwinkles and blues.  The horse is solid with the scraping and layering. He almost looks texturally real in person. The Thought:  Today I am still with my granddaughter enjoying her soft smells and her sticky fingers from learning to feed herself. I love it. Best Christmas Present ever. I often sit rocking her with the bible in my hands ,  reading to her from the bible. She is so relaxed leaning back against my chest, her hands on my arms, and although I know she does not understand what I read, I believe fully she feels it. The energy from His word passing through me to her. I encourage you to spend a little more time in your bible this new year and
