It was a week of sketching and sketching and getting to know the layout and curves and straight lines of the shepherds before I actually began painting with my knife. The dogs were sketched precisely on the canvas... and the thick paint began to pile high. These girls are heading to the west coast near San Francisco. I was thrilled to paint for my collector in the Bay area. I was even MORE excited she wanted the dogs painted like I paint my wolves. Once the knife started, there is no telling the direction. One of those LET GO AND LET GOD days. Up close you see the piles of paint and color peeking through here and there. Far away it give definition...
