SOLD  They both had seen the sunset almost two weeks ago when the first 'cold front' came through Dallas.  It was truly a golden sunset.  Their heart was set on this sailboat painting being a GOLDEN SUNSET.   We combed through many images to make sure I had in my mind what they had in their mind, and I set my palette to include Indian Yellow and Quinacridone Gold as the basis of the Golden Sunset. These are images of the first pulls of paint of Indian Gold with a minimal amount of white to carry it. I want the Indian Gold to react with other colors as they sweep over it.  "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their

SOLD  SO you will watch this one from beginning sketches through the paint this week. I have a busy month in the studio but it is with three or four large paintings, so you will see the progress peppered in with anything small I do along the way. I am reserving MONDAYS each week as the 'art lesson day' to help beginners with art. Many artists out there are doing paint alongs for other artists, but some beginners are truly not really ready for paint alongs. You have to have a knowledgable foundation in art to learn the basics, train your eye and extend your knowledge so you create things that are apart of who you are and not  imitate the art of others.    This will be a palette knife painting and this one starts with a sketch on the canvas.   I use charcoal directly on the canvas and this time, no I d

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2011 My Blog My Website     Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards I always thought of myself as a patient person. I may have to reevaluate that self opinion.  On our way to Bonham yesterday I realized that life was like the two lane road we were on.  Sometimes you get behind a tractor in the country and you can't pass for almost a mile... and then you get around the tractor and you just get up to the speed limit to get behind a truck hauling hay traveling at half the speed limit. You wait and watch for a safe time to  pass him because there is too much danger passing in a no-passing zone. You could kill yourself and everyone else around you.  Carefully you pass the hay truck and travel about 20 miles and find yourself behind a long line of semi trucks trying to change gears going up a hill.  Now what? Our lives are no

Psalm 25:3 The Painting: An oldie from 2006. Fresh strokes of heavy oils created the movement of light in the sky casting the vivid brightness onto the water. Sky and water maintain the colors and the fluidity of the water appears to take over the clouds in the sky, all running closely together. The Thought: When you are anticipating something, are you waiting on God to do it His way or your way? I can answer that one...my way. I work really hard making things happen...not good huh? Yeah, I know, I have found out the hard way. Research tells me the Hebrew work 'qavah' means to bind together, look patiently, to wait or hope eagerly. The second close word in Hebrew is '
