Meet Sid... lots of color and layers of paint.    Sid is the wise guy. He is not distracted by all the commotion around him. He has his eyes set on one destination and he is going there with or without the pack.    You can see all the layers of paint that start from dark to light. In oils I find as I pull the paints that

Saturday Night. Edging Out at Sunset... will you join me? Wolf Wildlife Painting by Laurie Pace

These wolves are waking up to do their nightly prowl. Just leaving the edge of the forest, their different personalities emerge as I paint. Most of my wolf paintings are 24 x 36 unless they are commissions. Then it is the size the collector wants painted.  I have not ever painted on for a gallery this size. It is 24 x 48 inches. With each of these paintings come the general wolf pack and each wolf in the pack has his special identity. I love painting their faces and expressio

I am not Horsing Around anymore! Western Contemporary Horse Painting by Laurie Pace

When I finish a painting I usually have that 'feeling' that I have nailed it.  If there is any doubt, I always take that step to make it into something else that does give me that sense of completion. When creative love surround me it is inviting like a warm bath.

Building Blocks and Divine Ideas, Landscape Painting by Laurie Pace

It can turn a dry parched field to green with flourishing vegetation.  What do you think it can do to your life?  Wouldn't you like new inspirations and a new perspective for life? We are blessed daily by prayers, smiles, nature, music, literature and the quiet of the day. God will provide solutions when you feel you have hit a wa

Texas Sunflowers... be on the lookout for a good crop after all this rain. Flower Paintings by Laurie Pace

The lakes were down up to 24 ft, some even lower, and now all but I believe two in our area are full. OVER full. They have even opened some of the flood gates to release water from a nearby lake creating more flooding in our county.  We have all steadily prayed for the end of our drought. I do believe our prayers are answered and with extra rain still coming down.   I use to paint sunflowers all the time and this was a small one but the image seems really big to me. Most were painted from 2005-2007. I would entitled them

No, I did not scrap the canvas clean. Terry offered to take it outside and wash it down but I chose to keep what was there and go forward. It is no different than God does with us I guess. We often get ourselves into situations that need saving all the time. This was no different. He doesn't always 'scrap' us to nothing and rebuild us either. We grow from our experiences and they are part of who we are.  Terry wanted to take progress shots but I told him it w

I am one with Change so I better hold on! Horse Painting by Laurie Pace

Slide show took me almost two days to finish it... sent the painting image out to two galleries needing work... WHAM.... Being an artist often leaves you vulnerable to comments. When you paint from the inner heart and spirit of your soul it leaves its energy and mark on the painting.  This one was a dear journey for me. I have struggled with wanting to even paint lately. We call it 'hitting the wall in the studio' with your head, not your paint brush. No different than in your life... is my life. Fear creeps in and

Nothing Like Holding Your Nose and Jumping In... Horse Painting by Laurie Pace IN the Studio

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2015 30 x 40 in Progress ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Follow me on Facebook           Sign up for my monthly studio newsletter. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nothing like holding your nose and jumping into a cold swimming pool in Texas.  I really believe that phrase extends into each of our lives.  Does not have to be water.  We jump into things in life without a second thought, or even a first smell.  Even when things seem exactly right and we go for it, sometimes it just doesn't work.  Or it might be working but you convince yourself it is not working. That is exactly what happened with this painting.  I had a phenomenal time painting this gem. It was a pleasured journey.  Have to read the blog tomorrow to find out exac
