Evening Waterlily 14 x 18 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Yesterday was a day of GRACE. Both my father in law and my dad were in two separate hospitals having heart related surgery. The Lord was with us as both of them came through with flying colors!!!! Relief and thanksgiving are still on our lips as we woke this morning. Terry and I are up early, TOO early since he will work until midnight tonight...but he is packing paintings that will travel to Wyoming for my show Friday. All systems go with the exception of another sinus headache and issues that may prohibit flying. I cannot even imagine trying to drive it in the time we have....so I am praying for healing right now. This painting was completed on Sunday. It is a relaxing simple breath of evening...cool colors and cooler moments! Smooth brushwork and delicate blendings add to the composition. As your life unfolds, remember to give thanks for everything in the journey. Grace, Laurie “He stood up to read, and the scroll
Mother's Summer Magnolias 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day It is just after four early Sunday morning. Terry is asleep, where I wish I was. Woke several hours ago with a screaming sinus headache, tried to go back to sleep but could not. Had to get in an upright position and take some tylenol. I was greeted in the studio by this painting that I finished yesterday before our trip into Dallas to meet Niki for dinner with the family. She is in visiting from Virginia, actually at a Dog Show in Longview via Dallas. I know it was a journey to drive in for dinner but a good time was had by all at ST Cafe. This painting is based on the humongous magnolia tree in my mom's front yard. They live on almost an acre in Dallas and this tree takes up one side of their front yard almost all by itself. It is huge. When you are under the canopy it is like midnight outside and that prompted the dark recesses on this painting of deep purples and violets mixed with the black. The star
LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER 16 x 16 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Not really sure about the expression on this cow...she is different! but I had fun painting her. Wide brush and different color palette for me too. Saturday. PAINT PAINT PAINT and pack pack pack. Never do seem to catch up. The first cut of the book for Wyoming arrived yesterday. I went ahead and ordered some for the show and had to pay extra to get them shipped on time. That wreck really delayed so much of what I needed to get done for this summer. Visit LULU to see the book. Click Here . It is only $18.99 and has both photography from Amanda Smith and artwork from me. Be energized by the power of the Lord...let His beauty shine through you to others. Shalom, Laurie “He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.”—Psalm 147:3
FURY 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day Egads...I am sunburned. I took the morning off and went swimming, rather floating, with my neighbor. I haven't take a break from the studio for something enjoyable like that in a LONG TIME. Well I am paying for it. I have the skin type that is winter white, but once I am in the sun I am a brown berry. Well, it has been years since I have been out floating around and I forgot to think about sunscreen because I figured I would only be there a short time. Well three hours later I raced home to handle stuff with the wreck and lawyers etc and didn't take the time to shower until after dinner. I am burned. White strap marks and all! It may be a rough weekend. This painting is another one of my smaller pieces, studies for larger paintings. I am taking watercolors on the trip. I have to really rethink my stuff because we may be flying. Still trying to figure that one out. Less stuff can come with me! I am he
FROM THE GARDEN 24 x 24 inches Oil no Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting A Day SOLD Gorgeous brilliant roses are covering my rose bushes outside. Terry snapped a bundle off and put them in my favorite blue vase. (My dad had a bunch of blue vases in his history of sales eons ago with Phoenix Mutual...and I still have one!) THICK paint but this time I used a wide brush to paint. I was painting with my IPOD attached. The electricity was out again yesterday morning. STAY FLEXIBLE! Do not engage where stress is lurking to pull you in! Today is painting and packing pictures for Wyoming. Amanda, here they come! LOL Don't forget to visit www.earthworksartgallery.com to see my show in New York. (I know there are not a lot of new ones due to the car accident we were in, but I gathered my best.) Single White Stallion 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Wednesday, Work Day. Did you ever notice that? Although I believe I work 24 - 7. This painting is a small one with the colors of my larger white stallions that I painted, I think they were called Spirit of Truth. I wanted to do a small one with the restful palette. I have been up battling the new printer. We were printing nicely last night and the power went off for four hours...everywhere in town. Even the grocery store had to close. All gas stations were closed...it literally shuts everything down. Terry and I covered ourselves with Chemicals to protect from Mosquitoes and then walked the dogs. When we returned we sat out on our back porch and Terry worked on sanding a model he is working on and I play my harp and then my guitar and sang. Needless to say, my fingertips are a tad sore this morning. I had not played my guitar much since March. We both showered early and climbed into a rathe
Early Fall 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day SOLD My thoughts are to fall already! BUT I cannot complain with the temps as they have been in our region, but for painting I am always thinking color. We were in and out of Dallas fast yesterday...had to tend to something at home that came up quickly. We have family with surgery next Tuesday and are in the prelims of getting things ready. We are suppose to leave for Wyoming a day after that so I pray all goes well. We will be in Colorado the next week and I will be painting from there! YEAH....and taking tons of pictures. I heard from Barbie, that was visiting from Salt Lake City. She had the horror tale of the trip home with a delay that kept her a full day from reaching home. I enjoyed our visit so much! Wish she lived closer, we would definitely be active together on a daily basis. TODAY is Conni Tögel's birthday, so I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Wish we were together to share a glass of wine and some cake. Remember
Golden Boy 4 x 6 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A painting a Day We are off to Big D today for a big Day! More on that later. This painting is a small one I painted out of fun on a tiny canvas. Lots of colors and still thick paint, so it was fun to play in the colors. Today remember you are a child of God. We watched a movie last night with Cary Grant in it. I don't know the name of it but he played a character called Cass Brown, also known as Casanova Brown. Yeah, there were lots of women and eventually a baby that was his that he kidnapped because he didn't want the mother to give it up for adoption. He was paranoid about that tiny little girl, wore scrubs when feeding her and weighed her every time she ate. He was worried with the ounces she gained each day she would progressively grow to be 20 ft tall and 1000 pounds! BUT what caught my attention was the way he sat leaning over her bassinet watching her sleep and planning her future. Does not God do that with eac
RIVER WALK San Antonio 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day SOLD SUNDAY...the day of light...SUN DAY...the day of the Lord. This is a small piece I had to get out of my system. I don't know, maybe a detailed large one will follow. I have found myself doing trial paintings that are smaller before taking on the large scale ones....sometimes I think we try and do that in life. Be it through small steps forward to something to test the safety of the situation or just using our thoughts to think over scenarios. The truth is we must allow the Holy Spirit to work from with in us and TRUST it will work as God plans....not as we think it should. This applies all through our lives in everything. The thought today on dailyword.com is about forgiveness. I do have a comment on that. So often in my life I feel like I am the person that has been hurt and I have to Forgive the person that hurt me. You know that pity party feeling. That is WAY too easy! In many cases the truth is, I
PONY 2 30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Saturday morning and too much to do. I stopped working around two yesterday and was helping with other work around the homestead. This is an expressionistic piece of passion and Santa Fe type colors.... and of course ENERGY! Allow the energy of the Lord to fill you this day. Go into the day with a positive smile and energies and spread the joy to each person you meet today. I am sending you a big smile across the miles from my studio.... Shalom, Laurie “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.”—Psalm 19:1
Horsey Gossip 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Good morning! This is a delightful COLORFUL group of hoses I had fun painting the past two days. I thought I would take it to Wyoming, but ya know the paint is sooo thick it will not be dry to make the trip! So many personalities in this painting...hard to take them all in. Don't forget to stop in at EARTH WORKS ART GALLERY . Yesterday my high school girlfriend Barbie drove out from Dallas. She is in visiting from Salt Lake City. We took art together in junior high school...that is where we met! I think it was first period art with Mr Craig at Lake Highlands Jr High School. Wonder if he is still alive? I learned so much from him. We even did architecture and designed our own homes in 8th grade! I even used that lesson when I taught 8th grade art. ANY way, after a yummy dinner at the FABULOUS Ponder Steak house, we came back to the house and she began a painting. She claims she has not painted in her adult life
After the Bath Towel Wrap 22 x 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Don't forget to stop by www.earthworksartgallery.com and see some of the paintings hanging in my show! Thursday and I am running out of days. I spoke to Amanda late yesterday afternoon and we decided at the last minute to put together a book for the show in Wyoming. I GET TO PUT TOGETHER the book in between finishing up the pieces she wants me to send. Today I will work on some flowers to go up with the horses and cowboys and do some prints as well. Terry will have to shake a leg and get the mega printer fired up. I need to call ASEL ART early and have Jim send some stretcher bars to us so we can get some gliclee ready as well. This painting I finished up yesterday while the water filter man was chasing a leak under my sink where the filter system is located. He did not finish up until after six thirty last night. It was terribly interrupting to my work and finishing up things. I am painting in acryli
THE RETURN OF THE PAINTED PONY 30 x 40 inches THICK RICH Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD GROAN. Break is over. Work is at hand. Terry is back at work and I will hit it hard today. This is a painting I finished on Monday night to list on eBay. Click here to bid. I have not done a painted pony horizon pull in almost two months, so you have the return. Always a symphony to paint with color and love and great music in the background. I was listening to ANTJE DUVEKOT. Click here. SHE is fabulous.... I do not know what original site I was on but it allowed you to listen to her music and songs before buying and I bought two CD"s of her and two of Ellis Paul. Actually I just checked on her site and you can listen to some of her songs...GO do it! ANNA is about her grandmother that has Alzeheimers. She talks on the CD about her grandmother and says she wrote the song about her grandmother, but her name was not ANNA, it was Gadda, but Gadda didn't rhyme so she had to use Anna,
SINGLE MAGNOLIA 16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Monday morning! GOOD MORNING! I think we spent the weekend eating and eating and eating. But in between eating, I did finish this sweet magnolia painting. Soft hues and colors of a bloom on my mom's HUGE tree in her front yard. I am this week preparing the remainder of the work for Wyoming. The days are escaping from me fast!!! Larry and Stacey took us to Magiano's for late lunch on Saturday. We met Mom and Dad there and continued the celebration of Terry and Mom's birthday. Oh my, the food. Larry ordered family style and there was enough food to feed a small army. Pastas, roast, salads, veggies, fish, desserts....Terry and I ate left overs yesterday after church. That is why I didn't blog...too full to move! Actually I was busy painting for Wyoming. Sunday School was inspiring yesterday. We traveled across town to Eastridge Christian Church and a great class led by Jack Van Vessem. The Study has been
ROSES FOR GLADYS 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day CLICK HERE TO BID SOLD DUH, I was suppose to post this on Mom's birthday yesterday and of course my brain was not functioning. I was late posting and grabbed up the five white stallions! BUT, I painted this a week ago to post on her birthday. The richness of colors cannot even begin to reach the beauty of my mother, but her favorite colors are all in this simple beauty. She is a simple beauty that God graced the world with and lucky me, I have her as my mother. Hopefully in my life I may reflect some of this grace to others that she has given so freely to me in my life. My New York show opens today. You can view 80 percent of the work online at the Gallery and you can buy from them directly as well or from me. Earth Works Art Gallery is in Upper State New York. Click here to visit the site. May His light shine in your life today and bring resolution and answers to things that trouble you. May new doors open as He reve
Five White Stallions 27 X 54 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Click here to bid. SOLD Friday, today is my mothers birthday! We were in Dallas yesterday and took her out to lunch along with Terry for his birthday. We have been in and out so much we have clocked close to 650 miles this week. WHEW! This is a painting I finished last week, I may have already posted it, if I did I am sorry. I am taking a three day break from painting...much deserved. My show opens in New York tomorrow. Click here for the Gallery website . Click on Events and then follow the prompts. Terry and I were suppose to be there, but obviously did not make it following the wreck. Too painful to think of flying in a cramped American Eagle plane. Act in Faith and Trust in Father/God. Stay in movement with prayer and your needs will be answered, maybe not the way it seems you think they should be met, but the Lord will follow his plan. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! Grace, Laurie “We look not at what can be seen but at
MAGIC MOMENT 18 x 27 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas Commission Painting A Painting a Day Well, this is a hugely busy time for me with the late shipments to Earth Works for the Show opening this weekend, but I had a request for a commission painting. It started with talk of a small 8 x 10 and after we visited and I saw the photos I suggested the Pop Art approach... and here it is! Finished in time for their anniversary next week and I will be shipping it immediately! I still want to do a small panel of them kissing ....but the photo that was sent was really blurry...but I am hoping I hit it close enough. All in shades of grays, with touches of flesh and crimson tones for accents. Unusual and pretty cool. Today is Terry's birthday. Not sure what the day will hold. He is still asleep. I was up early to finish this painting...and now I get a two to three day break from the studio...will try and post paintings that I have been working on for Wyoming. As I am taking a break,
MORNING ROLL 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Whew, when I started this painting I began with the golds and worked counter clockwise into green, midnight blues, purples and then to the reds.... I stepped back and thought " ICK" but began working on the horse still not sure of what colors would make up this rolling baby in the morning light! The colors began building as I went and slowly as I added more and more it worked into the vivid background, all of it alive with action and color. It takes a daring person to love this one, but hopefully it will touch a heart! Yesterday we went back into Dallas to order glasses. I couldn't decide, so I bought two pair. My sunglasses I used my old Maui Jim frames that I LOVE ~ but the new ones...geez one is a frame maker called facetoface I think and they have plaid sides going over the ears and square rectangles in the front. The second pair is tortoise like pattern in PURPLE!!!!! The eyes are shapes like the act
SINGLE ROSE 4 x 6 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Good morning! Sunshine and heat creeping in here...but understand it is miserable across the nation. This is a small rose that was fun and relaxing to paint to loosen up before doing a large painting. Rich colors and contrast playing the red against the green. Contact me if you are interested! Thought wise, much is bouncing in my head. As we were sitting at the eye doc yesterday I picked up a magazine and was browsing the pages. There was an article about a writer that had interviewed many older adults about special times they could remember in life. The adults that told of a wonderful happening but then interjected something horrible attached to it that disrupted the joy of the event and then left the story at a low point were most likely to be adults with depression and mood issues. The other group that stood out were the adults that told of a joyous occasion that might have emerged OUT of a negative thing...so their stories
Light of the Paints 22 X 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD A Hand signed and embellished giclee is available...contact me! This is the larger painting I did from the study painting of the single painted pony. Still feel there are areas I would do differently. I have been corresponding with Don Barnes ( CLICK HERE FOR HIS WEBSITE) and his emails area pushing me more toward painting smaller...while I think I am pushing him larger! My hang up is color, gee can you tell. Color is a passion with me and I cannot seem to help it! Color seems to carry vibrations and energy and I want that in my paintings. I am up rather early, Terry is sound asleep...I was awaken by the train this morning, or should I say TRAINS! My mind kept churning and thinking preparing for the canvas, so I gave up and got up! No phone ringing, no dogs under my feet....I can just paint with out interruption. Are you taking the time to take care of yourself and your needs? Remember God created you too..
Light of the Paint 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD This is a trial painting of one I will do larger. I want to establish the colors I use as well as the setting of the horse on the surface. From these studies I can see what I have to work with. I am debating a larger scene with another horse to the left. Will be sketching out the ideas later today after working with MR PRINTER. Mega thanks to Peter Togel for helping me with this monster. It is printing but I think we are running on a cable that is too long. Too complicated to explain, but I have to pack up my dining room to move my computer in to where the printer is, it is HUGE and cannot make it around the corners to get to the room I paint and work in. Yesterday I painted all day...the sun was out and Brendan came to mow. It will be sunny again today and hot, which is what is normal for July. This next week is Mom's birthday and Terry's birthday. After that is Conni Tögel's and Lanie's birth
IRIS Back Yard Blooms 11 x 14 giclee A Painting a Day Well, the big thing arrived. The 98oo printer. Egads it didn't look this big in the store! I am finishing up work to send to New York for next weekend and decided to send some of my prints from my Backyard Blooms Series. This is a favorite. I miss these iris...I had a huge group of them in my backyard at the old house. Should have brought some with me! Preparing for this show has been a huge drag for me with my brain only half functioning from the wreck. For example, I forgot to order the clear bags for the prints in the new sizes. I have old ones for the regular size prints. It will be $60 in shipping to get those babies here by Tuesday so I can ship them to the Gallery. We are actually on VACATION next week and suppose to be in NY and here I am still trying to get ready to go to NY. What is wrong with this picture? What is wrong is my frantic place of mind. Trying to do more than I should and not trusting that God has it
THE POND 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day SOLD SOLD SOLD OFF BLOG! So much rain and water, but I do believe we will have a break for a few days. HOPEFULLY we can get the yard mowed. We are still walking the dogs five times a day and they do not understand why they cannot get out and run! This painting was inspired by all the water and all the rain and the colors of summer with the rain. It is painted with a wide brush and COLOR COLOR COLOR! This is not my normal subject but sometimes we have to try new things. I spent an hour with Conni Togel on the phone yesterday as we bemoaned the fact that we needed a vacation together and wanted to find a good workshop. She has to wait until the kids are back at school and we have to work around her show schedule. Yesterday I picked up my printer. I will soon have available beautiful Giclee prints...embellished and ready to hang of limited selections of my work. Stay tuned in the next two weeks on my website, www.ellepace.com Have
Morning Reflections 18 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Well, we only saw sprinkles yesterday...but today expecting MORE rain! I am finally back in the studio, moving slow but hopefully back to full time work again, or at least trying it. I am waiting for the insurance man for the car to come back by and look at the repairs. This painting was completed this past weekend...I think on Sunday. It makes me hungry to look at it, thinking of summer and the blue skies and then all the colors you see in fresh fruits! I know I am artist and my brain functions at a different level! Yesterday I traveled with my daughter and her husband to my mothers to continue unpacking all the stuff she packed up for the floors to be installed. She is doing a good job weeding out the unnecessary in life. It seems we are all guilty of collecting physically as well as mentally. Just as we must relearn to let go and let GOD in our lives concerning worries and situations, we must also learn to LE
MORNING HAZE 30 X 40 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD THE FOURTH OF JULY! Celebrate the freedom and give thanks to the Lord! This painting I finished this week on Monday. It is deeply moving with the background of blues and aquas contrasted by the strength and combination of colors used in the horse. It is a LARGE canvas, 30 x 40 and will frame out at 42 X 52 inches. I have this one hanging in my living room to dry! Painted with a palette knife, the paint is deep and smooth in layered vibrations of color! Contact me if you are interested in this painting. Click here. Today will find me hopefully dusting at my mom's. She put in new wood floors and they finished up last night. My daughter and her husband have volunteered to come help as well. Terry returned to work today, so he will be exhausted this afternoon when he gets home. Last year at this time we were boarding a flight home from New York and the art show in Geneva NY. This year my show opens on the 14th and I
RED WHITE AND BLUES 27 x 54 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD SOLD SOLD Somewhere in an email I read do something for the fourth. SO this was it. I did not do this purposefully. These three started out all white and then evolved to stronger colors. I didn't even realize they were red white and blue until I finished and then you really don't see that when you look at them in the studio... You see a color explosion and energy. But this will post tomorrow in the email Daily Painters sends out and will count as my contribution to the RED WHITE AND BLUES...Fourth of July! This starts on eBay tomorrow night, so if you are interested in purchasing it BEFORE it hits ebay, please contact me. Laurie This again is three 18 x 27 inch canvas with three horses exploding forward. THICK paint and a palette knife are responsible along with the spirit with in guiding! EMERGING 30 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting A Day SOLD SOLD Good morning! This one was finished up this weekend. You can click here to bid or buy this painting. RICH colors sweep across the surface in a reverent majesty...I was praying and meditating while pulling the colors, part in delight, part in frustration, part in awe...and all the time in anticipation of what would evolve. We stayed quiet yesterday but did drive into Dallas to have lunch with my parents. Dad and Terry had blackened Salmon with veggies and a large cup of gumbo. Mom and I stayed with talapia and veggies. It was some of the BEST fish I have had yet this year! Yes, we were at Mainstream, our favorite restaurant. A trip to Whole Foods can bring tears and laughter always. There was a woman there (close to my middle age) pushing one of those carts with a child in it...long story short, I kept hearing this strange noise...the woman was in the store and she had ACTIVE LOUD WHOOPING COUGH. After
CHIPPING SPARROW 5 x 7 inches Oil on panel A Painting a Day Sunday morning early! This is another one of my small bird paintings heading for NY this week. It is a chipping sparrow. Stephanie, the Gallery manager wanted a series of my birds. I really enjoy the ease and yet full intensity of painting these little guys! I was honored last night by high bidding on one of my eBay paintings. Credit given to the Holy Spirit for the inspiration and guidance....it was my triple canvas horse painting and it sold for $1225 to one of my horse collectors in New York. I didn't get to watch it yesterday because Terry and I were taking CPR training, first aid training, med training etc and didn't get in until late last night. Rain continues to pummel the area. It was raining lightly when we arrived home...and around two this morning huge winds and more rain arrived. We are down to walking the dogs in the back yard on led because it is so wet outside and the ground is very mushy. Paddy w
