Child on the Hill Contemporary Art Palette Knife Daily Painting Landscape Child by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 Oil on Canvas SOLD For Commission Work, Contact me: Laurie I should feel like I am on vacation as I have not painted in a few days. This morning I will be painting. Yesterday was spent mainly at the hospital during daylight hours. What appears to be, is a tad bit of "inconsiderate hurrying" by the Doctor on Call at the OBGYN office. Stacey went in on Wednesday to be checked for early contractions and they determined through a sonogram that the cervix was not as thick as it should be. They did another test to determine if Labor was possible in the next two weeks. Now the on call doctor had the choice of labeling this test STAT for return information immediately and since he was admitting her to the hospital, he also had the option to have the hospital run the test for results in two hours. The goal was to decide if she was in danger of going into full labor this ea
REFLECTIONS TREES IN A ROW Contemporary Art Landscape Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 inches Oil on Linen Panel PAY AS YOU WISH! Merry Christmas. Contact me with YOUR best offer. Laurie I will ship it out immediately. I am going to continue this week to post PAY AS YOU WISH paintings. If you still need some small gifts, email me with your offer. I will not always take the highest, or the lowest...so email me what you can afford. This is Stacey today. I am going with her to the doctor this morning! The little TINK, Lauren Gracen is growing stronger every day! Poor Stacey is only a tiny bit over five ft tall and daddy Larry is 6ft 7inches so we are all watching Lauren grow. Not sure where Stacey will contain her. More on this tomorrow after the visit. I was very productive yesterday. The first thing I did was walk for about 45 minutes enjoying the early morning cold and the exercise. Then after some spiritually filled time, Mom came over and we ate lunch together. I
LAKE SIDE 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day Monday Monday...horses are on my easel but not this post! Three horse heads drawn on last month but not painted yet...but they are ready to come to life. This painting was from the trip...a piece painted from Colorado. Beautiful color and contrast in this capture of light and beauty...or at least my attempt at it! The Lord's beauty shines so brightly I know I barely do it justice. Today is shipping and the bug man is coming to spray. We use ECO SAFE out of Dallas and it is basically ORANGE OIL etc. I do not use chemicals in my home. Then it is off to FedEX. Terry has one week left of vacation. I am so glad he is not working in this heat. Saturday we had the dogs groomed. We have been trying to keep them clean and fighting the summer muck outside. It dawned on me this morning that Annie is older than I am. She is 8 this month...makes her 56. I need to find her bed, Terry was washing them on Sat but they have not show
Early Morning Wyoming 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day SOLD There will be some small paintings from the trip here and there...I hope you enjoy them. Most are on panel board and all have thick paint. This one is in colors that are not normally in my palette. An old barn that was next to a small pond, the house was actually to the right further but out of my view. Reclaiming your worthiness is important to your heath and your family. The world we live in today beats us down on a daily basis. Time spent in prayer and reflection with God offers us the time to rejuvenate and find our centering. In this time we are healed...if we let go and let God. Shalom, Laurie “When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, ‘Woman, you are set free from your ailment.’” —Luke 13:12
HILLS ONE 2007 22 X 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Monday morning! I have posted Hills One 2007. Last summer I did a series of these and they were popular....just for the fun of it, I painted one this year. In fact last year they were so popular that I ended up doing a huge commission piece 3 by 4 feet! They are a delight to paint and fun to view! Today are trips to the Doctor and then home...Would really like my right had to straighten out. Typing HURTS!! This week I have to finish up the New York pieces for shipping next week, so I will be busy doing edges and varnishing! Rest in God's Peace Laurie “To set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.”—Romans 8:6
REFLECTIONS 15 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day COLOR COLOR COLOR abounds in this impressionistic landscape that shouts to me JOY and GLORY in God's creation! A wide brush loaded and wiped with thick oils creates the texture and impressions in this one. Today we get to sit and watch our youngest son load the uhaul with boxes we packed before we were in the car accident. They are going into storage to par down the clutter in the house as we put it on the market with MUCH PRAYER today. I am NOT looking forward to the trip across Dallas pulling the uhaul. Yesterday we attended classes with Covenant Kids. The education they give should be passed out to ALL new parents. Terry and I have learned so much in these sessions. Yesterday we learned a restrain hold that really doesn't hurt. It will take practice to get it down, but we figured it would work on any person if you so needed it. Off to fix breakfast! Have a wonderful day and celebrate life today. Harmonize with
CLOUDS Oil on Panel 6 x 6 inches A Painting a Day Saturday has brought rain to the area again and it blends right with our muddled brain. I do believe our brain took three hits last week and is not functioning! We have MRI's scheduled for next week and are still moving slow. I seem to have sprained my right hand and painting and typing is very painful, so this will be short. Clouds is a small piece painted earlier but never posted on the blog. Since we are doing the marathon thing, I will post no matter what. Oh, I almost forgot...my new book is ready on Lulu. This book is for my New York Show at Earth Works Art Gallery. This painting is in it, along with many more from this spring. The cover painting is available still as well. Click here for Book. Click here for Calendar that goes from Sept 2007 to Dec 2008. Grace to all, Laurie “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”—Exodus 33:14 Definitely God speaking to me again.....
CHILD IN THE PARK 5 x 7 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting A Day BABY BLUES!!! This was working from a photo of my grandson Jonathan. It is a tiny painting, and I really need to shoot it from my tripod. I may replace this photo with a better one. I had fun studying the light and working with the colors and TRYING not to put colors in that are traditionally in your head, but only using tones of what you actually see!!! I am stiff this morning. Will be having a wrecker pick my car up and tow it to the FIX IT SHOP. They do not think it is too bad, but want to get it up on a rack. We chose to take it to our neighbors body shop knowing it is an honest shop and they do wonderful work, but it is on the opposite side of Ft Worth from us! Hope your Thursday is full of Grace and His love. Grace to you, Laurie “For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”—Galatians 5:1
Bay Morning 18 X 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day. It is a glorious Sunday morning. Last night Terry and I drove into Dallas to attend an organ concert at St Paul United Church of Christ on Lover's Lane. It is an old German Congregation that has been in existence over 125 years I believe. The organ is a unique pipe organ. It is especially unique because it is in a small church, but it is unbelievable in sound. The guest artist was Bradley Welch . Born in Tennessee, he now lives in Dallas and is quite accomplished. Yes, we bought a CD and yes I will be painting by organ music this week. This is also the church Terry and I were married in many years ago. The posted painting was finished yesterday. It is heavily layered with paint and may take awhile to cure! But I had fun with the colors and the play of contrasts through out the painting. Today I am working on a commission piece...one is hydrangea for an upcoming anniversary gift. The hubby saw my last piece and graci
TEXAS MISSION TWO 22 x 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Click here to bid. Aching muscles. Should not have worked in the flower bed yesterday. UGH. BUT I will paint... well maybe. Might sit to paint. This is my second Mission painting for Texas. I thought I had posted it already but did not see it when I looked back...if I did, enjoy it a second time! Gorgeous violets, blues contrasting with yellow and creams... My cousin left today to return to Boise Idaho. I don't think he liked the Texas weather and our bugs. He wanted to return to his mountains. Today I will be cleaning up the aftermath of a guest in the house, but remembering some of the fun moments of the visit. My cousin was deep into astrology and the planets controlling his life. I listened patiently as he often spoke of the planets controlling his future and his past and how different planets pass into different houses in his layout of life. For me it is easier! My Father created this world and it is His p
DAYBREAK Seascape 18 x 24 inches Oil on Panel A Painting A Day Bid Here Starting bid $169.00 OUR TREES are coming! Our Trees are coming. I have been up early waiting for the tree man. He got lost. He was trying to come before morning traffic but was using a Ft Worth Mapsco and we are Denton County. Doesn't work! I really need to take pictures of the progress in the back, hummm, another blog? Eeek I don't think so, but maybe I will just to post pictures on of the changes in the house. My cousin Bruce arrived safely from Boise Idaho. He is visiting here and then on to Washington DC to stay with my friend Niki. He does absolutely wonderful things with antique toasters and appliances and loves to redo OLD homes, not the huge ones but the old ones that were sold in total from like Sears etc. Did you know in the old days you could purchase HOUSE kits like that??? Pretty darn cool. He also can do regular old homes and has a flair for things like this. I didn't know him
Santa Fe Afternoon Shower 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day It is going to be a rainy day today...and varnishing will have to wait.....we are expecting storms today....so I won't paint much today either. This painting is a fascinating use of color and balance. It is for the contemporary art buyer for sure! Niki phoned from Virginia where all the Noreaster hit...she was on generator power until the generator broke. She just phoned from her cell phone this morning. It is 50 degrees and dropping in her home and she is hanging on. The generator folks were there last night and could not fix it, coming back today...but that is after a TOW truck had to get them out of the area last night. I will remind myself that a little hail and wind is nothing to cold and wet and wind with no power. At least we have a fireplace and can build a fire. Prayers are that way not just for her but for everyone and on top of that for the families of the victims of the shooting. Sometimes our
Trees on the Trail Oil on Board 6 X 6 inches Click here to buy. $89.00 A Painting A Day It is dark, but the sun should be up soon. It was quite a night as the first storms blew through around six. It was a squall that pushed through in about 15 minutes and the sun came out! BUT there were tornadoes bouncing around the area. About 8 p.m. as the news continued to cover the storm moving toward the east...the wind picked up and it grew greenly dark outside again. The dogs were going CRAZY. A second storm hit out of nowhere and we lost power. I phoned my daughter on my cell phone and asked her to check the computer radar...and sure enough a back cell was pushing through. I spent the evening reading a book with my huge 48 hour cell flashlight and Terry was connected to a movie on his IPOD. When we went to bed we shared the IPOD with each of us plugged into an ear clip! It was Julie Andrews in Hawaii. It appears still cloudy outside this morning. The power is back on and I am eager t
The Fishing Village 30 X 40 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Commission Piece A Painting A Day Well, this was Sue's birthday present from her husband. She had asked me MONTHS ago to do this and I was so swamped I had no time...but about two months ago I finally started it and finished it in time to cure it enough to send. With her husband's help...it was a total surprise!!! She phoned last night in the midst of my art classes and we all wished her a happy birthday. I really enjoyed painting this one and will probably do another similar to explore it further! We are expecting MEGA storms today so I am going to finish up a painting and clean house. Makes sense doesn't it? If a mega storm is coming with tornadoes you clean house right? Wrong, you stay busy, altho I am debating unhooking my outside drives to put them ina safe place...will have to just watch the weather. I was suppose to go into Dallas today, but I did not because of the races at the NASCAR track down the road. I
Blooms at the Arboretum One ~ Flower Garden 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas $199.00 Click here to contact me to Buy. A Painting a Day Such an interesting day....yesterday was filled with good visits at lunch and then UGH digging in my father in laws yard bringing home bulbs ready to pop open with blooms! Also brought home two little oak trees and one pecan tree. This painting is a passionate beauty and was a delight to paint. I received email last night from Diane Whitehead (ARTOUTWEST) with links to the dismal forecast with eBay. All of us wondering why bids dropped off...totally to ZERO. Has to do with ebay and Google duking it out and eBay's new adjustment to things where listings you put on eBay will not show up for almost a day and then you loose the freshness of NEWEST Listed. Those artists like me that pay $25-35 a listing to come up high in the searches are finding the investment is not worth the money. You end up only showing up in the almost ending searching, and only t
CITY BLOCKS One Cityscape Oil on Canvas 30 x 40 inches HUGE!!!! Click here to bid, Opening Bid $269.00 This is a huge painting, full of color! Inspired when we visited Mike and Cindy's house and I saw all her new furniture in her den, couches with all the primary colors! What fun. There kids are all off to college and life beyond, so it was time for fun and a face lift. They redid their kitchen too. She went to a seminar about collecting rainwater. We saw the gizmos she built out of trash cans enabling her gutters to run rain water straight into the containers. Then on the bottom of each trash can she had mounted spikets that you can attach the hose to. SMART!!! If we all did that we would have lower water bills! Spoke with my mom yesterday. My niece broke her foot this weekend. She is mid twenties adn this is definitely something that slows you down at any age! Prayers for healing for her...fast healing! This weekend we will gather at a new restaurant in Dallas, The Rembra
QUIET OF SUNRISE 22 X 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Click here to bid Starting bid $199.00 Good morning! Today is gorgeous, sixty degrees and sunny. I could not have ordered a better day! I give thanks and praise to the LORD for His beauty and the weather! Meanwhile this morning I finished this Venice Sunrise and have it listed on Artbyus.com. THICK paint in my tradition but with a paint brush and brilliant colors. I am working on a second large commission piece of roosters today, so maybe tomorrow I can post that one...it is a long paint with it with at least seven layers of paint and impasto! Yesterday at the grocery store we were checking out. Krogers always hires mentally challenged individuals and we have always appreciated this. I think more so after losing Grant. As the man was trying to figure out how to use our cloth grocery bags (I take my own) Terry gently helped him and was so tender with this man, who was at least 35 years old. I sucked it up but by the tim
