Pairing Up - a Horse Painting filled with Spring Colors

New Horse Painting: PAIRING UP © Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2026 Pairing Up Oil on Canvas   by Laurie Pace     My newest horse painting, PAIRING UP, grew from layered color and quiet patience. Originally begun as a different piece, I painted over the canvas and spent two days blending back layers of oil into soft, natural transitions. After letting the surface rest and form a slight skin, I returned with charcoal and began etching into the paint, discovering the horses within the pulled color. The beauty of this painting lies in its subtle blends. There are no harsh contrasts — just gentle shifts of color that feel like early spring mornings on a hillside after winter has passed. The longer I worked, the more intentional the color contrasts became within each horse — warm against cool, light against muted tones — creating harmony rather than competition. PAIRING UP speaks of contentment, unity, and renewal. It carries a sense o...

Waiting for dry surfaces and pick up day by Art Delivery van is the 2nd of December. Then it will be on it's way to Santa Fe. How many horses can you see?   I have two more canvas sketched out and one already on the easel to start tomorrow morning.   💜💛💚💙 The last day of Indian Summer here in Texas. Tomorrow the cooler weather will arrive . We will at least be in the fifties during the day and in the low forties at night. I am ready for it and perfectly timed with Thanksgiving.   Much to be thankful for with this special American holiday.  We are thankful every day for waking up and walking with the Lord. It will not be our enti...

Final Descent - Horse Paintings

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2025 Final Descent Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Horse Painting filled with action! Dark of night, moon high in the sky with mountains below catching it's moonbeams.  The horses are descending the mountain in the moonlight. Can you count them? I used a palette knife to carve out and discover each horse in the layers of paint on the canvas.  This sold from Mirada Fine Art.  Philippians 3:10 "That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death." The rain of yesterday fell from dark clouds and rolls of thunder... and wind! It was a beautiful rainy day. I am not ready to hear that a heat wave is coming soon with a high pressure system halting our precious rain here in north Texas. Friday for me is house cleaning day and that is what I will be doing as I finish this blog.  We had early morning an...

Racing the Sunset 3 ft by 4 ft horse painting...

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2025 Racing the Sunset Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Count the horses!!!  The strength of the pack of wild horses as sunset settles in the west. Count the horses again!   This is 3 x 4 ft in size.   It was a commissioned painting and painted between 2011 and 2012.   John 11: 25-26  "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”   Storms hit early this morning around 4:45. The winds were strong at 65 mph. I am not sure if we had hail or not but it was reported in the area. The rain should be clearing by mid morning, and I know our trees and grass and flowers are benefiting from this moisture. Summers are harsh here.   Seems like our lives happen in the same way. Things arriv...

Warmth with the Sun Colorful Horse Painting

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2025 Warmth With the Sun Oil on Canvas  Available    by Laurie Pace    Touching up Color on this beautiful horse painting!  I began this piece last fall and it hung around in the studio till yesterday and I opened my attack bringing it to life with color.  That is what propels my painting... Color.  She is a unique horse and loves to play in the light of the sun every day. I do believe that is why the glimmers of color in the painting bring forth the beauty in this contemporary horse painting! Romans 8:11 "If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you."  What is incredible about having a growing faith and trust in God is brought to life through trials and temptations. Our family has been under many pressures and trials in th...

Texas Longhorn Painting from the Lone Star State

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2025 Longhorn Land 30 x 40 Oil on Canvas - Commission   by Laurie Pace   Nothing like a Longhorn Painting from Texas!  This longhorn painting has hidden longhorns throughout the composition. It was a commissioned painting and I used to paint longhorns often but the last one was about four years ago. The last one was a longhorn abstracted a little further.  Longhorns in Texas capture the full scale of color here in the Lone Star State.  Below is how they start from my Lakeside Studio.  I may share one a week or every two weeks from the five years I painted them. All were commissions except the one I sold from Mirada Fine Art and it was back to a family in Texas! They are all different as you see as you watch for one to pop up again on the blog.  John 11:25-26  Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will still live, even...

After the Afternoon Rains

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 After the Afternoon Rains Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   My heart is breaking for all that were impacted by the hurricane.  Usually after regular rain, the sun comes out and there is still moisture in the air and everything seems to glow and glisten.  When I saw the shots of Asheville NC and the Artist's Studios under mud and water to the roofs ... my artist heart cannot even imagine.  Many of us do not know the physical devastation of events like this. Living in Texas and at one time about an hour or so from the coast in Nacogdoches for 18 years, we weathered many storms but nothing with devastation that hit Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.  We have friends in Tennessee but I have not heard if they were affected.  It would be awesome if Artists across the United States could come together and do what they did for Hawaii, o...
