'Escape of the Carousel Ponies' Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Pace

'Escape of the Carousel Ponies' 30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Canvas SOLD before it was even dry in the studio. Contact me for commission work: Laurie ©Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : I painted this in two days with layering. The first day was Saturday as I placed two layers of drippy acrylics. Then on Sunday I began working on two Arabian horses that just were not working on the canvas and I wiped over the surface with more colors. By Sunday afternoon I began to see what was evolving was a playful scene and the two ponies looked like escaped horses from a carousel. Hence the name. My mom named them. She was helping me cover paintings for my two NY gallery openings on Sunday and I was working on this composition. She always has a good comment to make. I am trying to encourage her to take some painting workshops with me. I have never taken any as I teach them... but it might be fun. ANY WAY, a collector had purchased another painting and wanted ...
HEAT OF THE DAY Contemporary Art Horse Equine Acrylic Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches Contact me for more information: Laurie SOLD ... THANK YOU! " The Lord is my strength and my might, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him. " Exodus 15:2 Why I decided to paint with tangerine I do not know. The Spirit led me. Right now floating in my mind is a yellow background with pink flamingos. I have this thing about color... I think that is why my Father infuses the world with color to give us energy and strength. We react emotionally to colors as well. Your home reflects you by its colors. I am unusual that I have always bought white towels and white sheets, and light furniture and I allow the artwork and accents of pillows and accessories to make the room come alive. This allows me to change the mood of a room easily. In this healing home we went with a soft dove grey on the walls. Some rooms pop with colors of RED RED and white a...
THREE KINGS ~ Contemporary Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 36 inches, Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for Pricing. Laurie Yesterday Billie and I made a huge dent cleaning out the garden room and unpacking crystal. She hung glass holders in the bar for the wine glasses to slip into and got those safely in place. Her skills are endless as she flawlessly whipped out ideas for the studio. I even have my HUGE drafting board in here now, as well as TP's two desks, and room to teach and bring in my tables. Unbelievable! I will take pictures soon. I am painting this morning and hopefully she will be up soon to paint with me. She has been wanting to paint all week and I am like, "I cannot paint with the house like this..." I always work before play and painting is a joyful play for me. We discussed styles and ideas for the direction of my art. As a gallery owner she always seems to be a step ahead on what is pulling directionally. I am eager to paint....
ROSES in a Bowl ~ Contemporary Flower Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contact me for prices! Okay the size is not exact over the fireplace, but it is a big painting! It is 30 x 30 inches. This is a delightful painting, very contemporary. If it doesn't sell it will hang in Frank's House, which is what we are calling the new house. I always like working with the framing of acrylic bands around the edges....and the basic colors scream contemporary. I have slept so well for the past three nights. I know the Lord is speaking to me to be calm because everything we are dealing with is not solid yet. Well, actually nothing is predictable but death and going to be with the Lord, but meanwhile I have a house to pack, paintings to paint and knees to pray on. Is your life in confusion or chaos right now? Often life gets away from us during this time period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is triple the activity in our lives, com...
EVENING QUIET ~ Seascape by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Saturday morning is here. It is still dark outside but I have all the windows open. Not as cool as yesterday, but I will be cleaning house in about 15 minutes. Morgan is coming over later to paint. He has sold five paintings in the past two weeks! YEAH! Stacey and Larry are back from Colorado. They stopped by on their drive in and brought me some beautiful chimes, Terry a T-shirt and a huge HUGE HUGE chocolate cake. It must be 18 to 20 inches tall...that many layers. We hope to go as a family to Caro's Mexican in Ft Worth tonight and then home for CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! This painting I finished up on Thursday...soft soft evening twilight colors abruptly interrupted by the setting golds in the sunset. Everything is quiet. My pearls of wisdom today are "good flows freely". (IF your hands are open to receive it and you believe.) Allow divine ideas to be exp...
THE COWBOY ~ Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Tuesday and still in the midst of our late Indian Summer. Got a HUGE electric bill yesterday, but I have not had a bad one all summer, so I guess one is not bad. Terry thinks the AC is going out, so I am happy we have a unit lined up to go in. This painting was finished on Sunday. Out of the midst of painting it I saw a cowboy standing inside the horse...do you see it? At first I laughed and then I thought, Why not leave it...tell me what you think... Today Terry will work even though it is his day off. He is working a late shift to switch off schedule with another man to have Saturday off for his huge family reunion. It will be the first time in 17 years I will not be there! I will be at ARTSCAPE in Dallas at the Arboretum and again if you are a Dallas/FT Worth reader, BE THERE!!! I will be working tonight in the studio late preparing all the "Stuff...
IDIOT's DELIGHT 16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Well, this was done quite a while back...like 1991. I painted for my husband. Idiot's Delight is the name of the B17. My technique and approach has changed, so I decided sometime in the next month to take another old bird on...you will have to watch to keep up. I have a new WIDGET on my blog...but for the life of me I cannot figure out how you could get it to your desktop...I don't speak computerese, but I will consult my younger brother the computer guru. He may have answers. Yesterday was the party of our 10 year old grandson...I am sugared out. I think he had fun! Twister was a giggle and a half and No I only watched. We compiled a scrapbook for him with all his friends and family building it. Something he can reflect on always as he hits the two digit age...turning away from the single digits forever! Surrender to the grace of God today. Give grace to those around you. The gifts of grace and forgivene...
Out of the Night 24 X 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Good Saturday Morning. I do not know if I posted this painting or not, but here it is again if I did. I am in Dallas. Spent the night at my mom's house...Terry and I both did. His dad is doing fine. He should be released from the hospital this morning. Meanwhile Terry has much moving of stuff to do today. Me, I am waiting here at mom's for Jonathan's special delivery birthday present. Jonathan is our 10 year old grandson. He was born 10 years ago today. He should be coming over to swim at my mother's house this afternoon and tomorrow Terry and I are hosting his 10th birthday party in Justin where all his Justin friends can come and celebrate with him. Terry ordered him a DARTH MAUL double ended lightsaber from eBay. The awesome seller in Beverly Hills is overnighting the sword to my moms! He has been one of the most cooperative sellers on eBay! Peaceful interlude...hummm I always called it Plateau-ing...
NOON TIDE 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas No Frame Needed. A Painting A Day Wednesday. I woke this morning with a vision. I don't know that I can get it on canvas this morning but will try! I was not going to paint today, but it is urging me to pick up the brush. This painting was completed Monday, another crisp fun Tuscany look on the sea. Bright colors and very thick paint applied with my palette knife. No plans today, sometimes that is good and sometimes that is bad! I need to call my moms to get chugging for fall teaching. I have my syllabus complete for the fall but I need to order my supplies. I am praying your day goes well. Sometimes when you plan ahead things never seem to fall in place and often this brings frustration. God seems to pop in those unexpected situations and that is when we need to sit back and let him work. Hugs special to Sue and Charlene today. I feel like a bad friend not touching base, but this past three weeks has been more than busy....
Mother's Magnolias Oil on Canvas 24 X 36 inches A Painting a Day CLICK HERE TO BID. SOLD WE ARE HOME! I am reposting this painting because it is on eBay and has no bids. It is truly a beautiful painting and I am hoping to find a new home for it! If not, it will hang here until the right one comes available. We returned early from Breckenridge. I spent part of yesterday morning in the ER with Altitude Sickness...I had gotten worse and suddenly I was totally disoriented. Thank goodness for Terry and our friends, Arlo and Jan from Arizona. They bundled me right to the ER and after checking me out I was on oxygen for about three hours as we- oops as THEY packed to descend the mountainous terrain. WOW. We missed out on our last afternoon and night together. We had not seen these wonderful friends in almost ten years. Jan has always been like my older sister and Arlo, gee, he is an original~! He and Terry could talk airplanes all day. (Arlo was in the airforce...) Jan and I, well w...
Midnight Seascape 18 X 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day It is Wednesday! All the paintings left for Wyoming...whew...one more thing behind me. I will be traveling some over the next week but will continue to post. I spent yesterday going over everything with the couple that will be staying at our home, house sitting and dog sitting. We have to make sure our animals are happy! Annie does not like the pet hotel. The pet Hotel does not like Paddy. So, we will let the dogs stay home! Now that summer has arrived we have to make sure all the trees and plants are watered too. Sometimes leaving home is a problem more than a joy. Maybe if we had a sprinkler system it might be easier. I will put that on my wish list. This painting is one of my favorite pull pieces with colors blending and merging into others. I use a thin palette knife to create this style and I am a lover of purples and blues... very restful to paint. Remember to rest in the Lord...trust Him to show you the w...
Evening Waterlily 14 x 18 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Yesterday was a day of GRACE. Both my father in law and my dad were in two separate hospitals having heart related surgery. The Lord was with us as both of them came through with flying colors!!!! Relief and thanksgiving are still on our lips as we woke this morning. Terry and I are up early, TOO early since he will work until midnight tonight...but he is packing paintings that will travel to Wyoming for my show Friday. All systems go with the exception of another sinus headache and issues that may prohibit flying. I cannot even imagine trying to drive it in the time we have....so I am praying for healing right now. This painting was completed on Sunday. It is a relaxing simple breath of evening...cool colors and cooler moments! Smooth brushwork and delicate blendings add to the composition. As your life unfolds, remember to give thanks for everything in the journey. Grace, Laurie “He stood up to read, and the scroll...
Mother's Summer Magnolias 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day It is just after four early Sunday morning. Terry is asleep, where I wish I was. Woke several hours ago with a screaming sinus headache, tried to go back to sleep but could not. Had to get in an upright position and take some tylenol. I was greeted in the studio by this painting that I finished yesterday before our trip into Dallas to meet Niki for dinner with the family. She is in visiting from Virginia, actually at a Dog Show in Longview via Dallas. I know it was a journey to drive in for dinner but a good time was had by all at ST Cafe. This painting is based on the humongous magnolia tree in my mom's front yard. They live on almost an acre in Dallas and this tree takes up one side of their front yard almost all by itself. It is huge. When you are under the canopy it is like midnight outside and that prompted the dark recesses on this painting of deep purples and violets mixed with the black. The star...
LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER 16 x 16 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Not really sure about the expression on this cow...she is different! but I had fun painting her. Wide brush and different color palette for me too. Saturday. PAINT PAINT PAINT and pack pack pack. Never do seem to catch up. The first cut of the book for Wyoming arrived yesterday. I went ahead and ordered some for the show and had to pay extra to get them shipped on time. That wreck really delayed so much of what I needed to get done for this summer. Visit LULU to see the book. Click Here . It is only $18.99 and has both photography from Amanda Smith and artwork from me. Be energized by the power of the Lord...let His beauty shine through you to others. Shalom, Laurie “He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.”—Psalm 147:3
RIVER WALK San Antonio 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day SOLD SUNDAY...the day of light...SUN DAY...the day of the Lord. This is a small piece I had to get out of my system. I don't know, maybe a detailed large one will follow. I have found myself doing trial paintings that are smaller before taking on the large scale ones....sometimes I think we try and do that in life. Be it through small steps forward to something to test the safety of the situation or just using our thoughts to think over scenarios. The truth is we must allow the Holy Spirit to work from with in us and TRUST it will work as God plans....not as we think it should. This applies all through our lives in everything. The thought today on dailyword.com is about forgiveness. I do have a comment on that. So often in my life I feel like I am the person that has been hurt and I have to Forgive the person that hurt me. You know that pity party feeling. That is WAY too easy! In many cases the truth is, I...
PONY 2 30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Saturday morning and too much to do. I stopped working around two yesterday and was helping with other work around the homestead. This is an expressionistic piece of passion and Santa Fe type colors.... and of course ENERGY! Allow the energy of the Lord to fill you this day. Go into the day with a positive smile and energies and spread the joy to each person you meet today. I am sending you a big smile across the miles from my studio.... Shalom, Laurie “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.”—Psalm 19:1
MAGIC MOMENT 18 x 27 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas Commission Painting A Painting a Day Well, this is a hugely busy time for me with the late shipments to Earth Works for the Show opening this weekend, but I had a request for a commission painting. It started with talk of a small 8 x 10 and after we visited and I saw the photos I suggested the Pop Art approach... and here it is! Finished in time for their anniversary next week and I will be shipping it immediately! I still want to do a small panel of them kissing ....but the photo that was sent was really blurry...but I am hoping I hit it close enough. All in shades of grays, with touches of flesh and crimson tones for accents. Unusual and pretty cool. Today is Terry's birthday. Not sure what the day will hold. He is still asleep. I was up early to finish this painting...and now I get a two to three day break from the studio...will try and post paintings that I have been working on for Wyoming. As I am taking a break, ...
