It harms us, but it's how we glue those fractures back together that make us stronger.” Carrie Jones, Entice PAINTING 🖌 This is a peak into a painting... a small part of the whole. It stand alone even when it has not been completed. The eyes of a woman and the beginnings of her nose and mouth. She was part of a whole painting, which has been repurposed, but I could not do away with her face on the new painting. Will try to remember to post it again tomorrow as I know I might have posted it maybe a few months ago. Portraits, Women, Eyes tell all...  MONDAY PLAY 🖌 The day started at four this morning when I woke up way to early!  I listened to classical music, then watched some news and heard hubby up in the kitchen.

This is a time of forty days before the Crucifixion and the Resurrection, and we are in day 7 right now. It is a time spent in reflection and preparing to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection. Many spend Lent seeking the Lord in prayer, practicing self control by fasting or literally giving up habits or things of personal importance.  My mind wrapped around Lent this year believing it truly allows us all a time to reset and renew our relationship with God and with Christ. Often praying is a go-to in time of need of bad health or negative things are happening through the year. We then call upon God or Jesus to save us, bolster us up, walk with u

Block Party | Figurative Painting by Laurie Pace

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2020 Block Party  by Laurie Pace  Not quite finished...but working on it! Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   It was back years ago in 2009 that our street in Lake Highlands (Dallas) 'Chiswell' had a block party. The street was only one long block and we closed off both ends and the kids and adults gathered mid way and had a party... a total blast. I ran around with my camera snapping photos.  I am in a workshop right now and was using one of them for this... it is not complete but wanted to share where I am with it.  I painted the board with the bright colors underneath and then painstakingly hand painted the little girls on it ... It was a fabulous journey so far. Hope your week has been good. I have been posting on Instagram more lately. You can find me at @lauriepaceartist.   “ keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to et

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2020 Being a Princess  by Laurie Pace - Sold.  Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   “I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren’t pretty, or smart, or young. They’re still princesses.” ― Frances Hodgson Burnett, A Little Princess It was 11 years ago that I painted this young princess. My own granddaughter was a tiny baby at this time.  This princess lived in a nearby town in a castle with her family. Notice her ONE SINGLE RED ROSE.  I treasure fun small paintings like this.  I hope to embark on new color in the studio in the next month. The older you become, the more you realize it is the small special things in life that stick with you in your memories.  When you are in prayer with the Lord, remember he places multitudes of small simple things in your life all throughout your days.  What have you found or noticed? Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.” ― Langston Hughes I shot this image after I did major rainfall to the canvas. Please notice the light yellow wash that started the entire process.  It was before the horse is added...and yes there is a horse coming. This painting is suppose to reflect my happy place when things seem strained and overwhelming. Where do you go? My treasure lies in watching my granddaughter draw with her sidewalk chalk in her bright rai

God is awake.” ― Victor Hugo Patience is defined as "quiet, steady perseverance." We begin each day not knowing what is ahead and begin it in trust and perseverance because our faith is strong. Every day we are given the opportunity to practice Patience.  It could be sitting in traffic or waiting in line at the grocery store. Take this time and use it in prayer giving thanks for all you do have. Be gratefu

My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” ― Ernest Hemingway This was a favorite painting from way back in 2004 era for a friend that lives in Mt Vernon. I love to visit because I get to see it framed and hanging and very very loved. Do you love sleep? I do.  The older I have gotten it sometimes evades me and that is frustrating. I use to be able to sleep almost anywhere. My Dad was that way as well.  Sleep at night is truly the beginning of the next day. It is the sleep you get that empowers you through the next day.  Most times you thi

Life is Art Figurative Watercolor by Laurie Pace

What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.” ― Helena Bonham Carter The quote almost stands entirely on its own. Remember your mom or grandmother telling you "pretty is as pretty does"?  That is where I was going to go in writing this morning, but then I found this amaz
