© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2023 Five Red Blooms 24 x 24  Oils on Canvas SOLD    by Laurie Pace   Can you see the mushing of colors in the background?  The blends you can never  create with out a mess. Notice the vase and the background fade from the lighter pink mashing of colors to the neutrals one the left side and the shadows of turquoise and deep pink. Yes, I need to post images!  We are working on the backyard and waiting for trees that cannot be delivered due to rain,  Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.  The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15-17 Laurie Pace A Texas Artist

Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. FUMC Belvidere Site Ash Wednesday emphasizes two themes: our sinfulness before God and our human mortality. The service focuses on both themes, helping us to realize that both have been triumphed through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The use of ashes as a sign of mortality and repentance has a long history in Jewish and Christian worship. Historically, ashes signified purification and sorrow for sins. Or even the days spent at the beach digging in the sand and watching sand castles dissolve back into the ocean. It is not always just letting go and letting God, but sometimes there is more involved when you cannot seem to let go. Turning it over with God.  Digging into the heart of the issues and 'shoveling them out of the way. Turning the soil over and making way for new growth in life. Letting go is always hard. The Sheriff's faith is strong and he lives his life following the Lord. It actually takes a lot of pressure off if you begin to contemplate the fullness of what he is saying. We are accustomed to crying, worrying, grieving and pacing when we are confronted with circumstances that seem to be out of our control.
