Indian Spirit Pony Two 24 X 24 inches A Painting a Day ON auction now... CLICK HERE . Second in my 2006 Series of Indian Spirit Ponies.... wonderful beginnings with Acrylic overlays followed by several layers of oil woven through out. Colors are stunning! Mostly painted with a palette knife, a bit of brush work completes the composition. COOL air is heading into Texas! YEAH!!! Tonight we will have a fire for sure in the fireplace. Terry has finished up the wood floors, we have hung one set of my drapes and hopefully will hang the last two windows today too. Somewhere in there groceries and preparing for trick or treaters...but I am betting there are not many with the Front moving through late this afternoon. It will be a COLD north wind. We bought plenty of candy though so Iwill be freezing the left overs...not a good thing to have when I am trying to count calories! Grace, Laurie "What do you think? If a Shepherd has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he n
FULL MOON TWO 11 X 14 inches A Painting A Day An impressionistic love of fast colors and a wide paint brush! Brilliant colors and thick paint add to the atmosphere! This will go on Auction later this week, but you could contact me if you are interested in purchasing it! CLICK HERE. Another WINDY day here in Texas...but cool temps are on the way and I am glad! Grace, Laurie "A friend loves at all time." Proverbs 17:17
Drinking With Friends 22 x 28 inches A Painting A Day Contact me if you are interested in this painting. It goes on auction Nov 2nd on eBay, but until then you can buy it direct from me! Click here. Or you can click on my website www.ellepace.com and contact me through it. It would be EARLY Sunday morning here. It is pretty cool outside. I have been out with the dogs and it is not even five a.m. yet. I am heading to the easel early this morning. I have two commission pieces I am working on, modern abstract horses. One is for Marley, one of my art students. She and I share a birthday in November and her mom wants a piece for Marley's room. IT is my pleasure. The second one is for Hilary, a teacher in Nevada who fell in love with a piece on auction but it wasn't big enough. Her's new piece is 3 ft by 4 ft. I will have sore arms when I am done! Meanwhile this is my DRINKING WITH FRIENDS. Inspired by words from my younger brother. He said folks in the UK have a lower
COWGIRL ONE 30 X 30 inches A Painting a Day A third painting in my reining series, and this time a cowgirl at her best! When I was looking through pictures and deciding what to paint, I kept coming back to this one because it was a dance....the cowgirl sits so coolly in the saddle ~ while maintaining balance and grace as the horse pivots and turns swiftly....it is a motion that seems to defy the rules and a unique moment to capture on canvas. Thanks to Trina and to Terry as I finished this composition up this week. Today is Saturday and I am busy with sewing drapes and house work. Will do a new piece today, a small original ACEO card. Conni Togel (Charisma Art and fellow member of the FIVE GRACES) visited with me yesterday. I am encouraged and will try it! My life is unfolding in divine order. Grace, Laurie "My purpose shall stand, and I will fulfill my intention." Isaiah 46:10
ROSES and HYDRANGEA 16 X 20 inches A Painting a Day Just a quick note. Finished this beauty up yesterday afternoon before teaching. It was fun and it is a free handle on the wide paintbrush. It was a JOY to create! This picture does not do it justice! I am off to the airport to pick up our eldest flying in from Long Island. He is journeying to see his dad in the VA hospital in Houston. The Dad is recovering from a quad bypass. Makes me not want to eat fried chicken any more. My prayers for you are blessing that flow from the love of God within my heart. Grace to you all, Laurie "When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?' He said to him, 'Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed my lambs.' " John 21:15
The Gathering Two 24 x 36 inches A Painting a Day Thursday is teaching day. Ashley, my co teacher, is finishing up the history of mask making and the children will put their final touches on the masks they made of paper mache last week. NO not trick or treat masks at all. We talked about how masks seem to empower a person with the influence of what the mask is. For example, if you put on a wolf mask you take on the brut strength and confidence of the wolf. If you put on Sponge Bob...well I am not sure what you feel, but it is definitely different than the wolf! LOL...If you put on Superman you feel as if you might have super powers. If you put on a Cinderella Costume you feel like a princess...light delicate and BEAUTIFUL!!! I can't wait to see how they turn out today. It will be a tangled mess of acrylic paints, feathers, sequins etc. I was pulling color on the canvas with my palette knife yesterday when this piece began to emerge before my eyes. From the colors the hor
Through the Archway Oil on Board A Painting A Day Good morning. It is Wednesday and that is a busy painting day in the studio. Getting this sweet painting posted this morning that I completed this week. It is VERY VERY thick palette knife paint creating this gorgeous composition. Working on a smaller canvas was a challenge, but I am pleased with the results~! My two oldest are gathering in Houston for their Dad's open heart surgery today, so my prayers are very focused on his progress and their safe traveling. My father has been through this surgery (by-pass) and it seems to change folks quite a bit ~ personality wise. Currently I stand in total admiration of my mother and her complete unwavering dedication to my own father as he faces many changes and challenges of aging. She is in my heart and prayers 24/7. Here's to a good hump day for everyone! The peace of God fortifies my thoughts and actions today. Grace, Laurie "Live in harmony with one another." Romans
Racing Side by Side 11 X 14 inches A Painting a Day Good MONDAY morning! WE are up and it is only seven in the morning. Today the chimney man is coming out. We are considering a stove insert into our fireplace to heat our home. Today is also wrapping and shipping day for me as well and Terry and I are dragging in the boxes and the bubble wrap to mail out about 10 paintings today. We are eagerly awaiting a handy tool from Andy Whitehead to help with boxing in the future. It will reduce my need for bubble wrap and hopefully save my buyers some money for shipping. The painting I have posted is a small beauty. Painted on smoothly sanded masonite, the colors are true and vivid in person. It is the perfect little painting to fit a niche in the home or to really frame with a wide gold frame and dress up a study or den. Currently it is on auction for this week. Click here if you want to make a bid. Grace to you all, Laurie "Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love
Ruby Sunrise 22 x 28 inches A Painting a Day Brrr, we finally got into the forties. I love it. It is seven thirty on Sunday morning and it is 42 degrees outside. Just got the dogs in and they are full of the spirit today. Me, I have been painting since four this morning. This is Ruby Sunrise....hence the hour and the way the paint evolved on the canvas with my palette knife. THICK paint surround this beauty. I named her for our friend Ruby, married to Gary. She is like sunlight when she filters into your life....a glow of love and God roled together emits from her. This horse glows with life and love! Grace, Laurie "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed." Deuteronomy 31:8
SANTA FE RUN 18 X 36 inches of FUN~! A Painting a Day Click here to bid on ebay. Saturday is here...I will paint this morning...should be sleeping. It is four thirty in the morning. The posted painting is a lively southwest art piece with the colors of Santa Fe and the energy of the horses! Thick brush strokes of color and movement bursting across the canvas. Would definitely brighten a room with its personality. Grace, Laurie God's will for me is absolute good. "Then he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.' He replied, 'Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.' " Luke 23:42-43
Morning Prayer 18 x 36 inches A Painting A Day I really don't think this photo does this painting justice. It truly captures the corals, pinks and gold as the rises and I attempted to capture this in the fur/robe this older Native American Indian has wrapped around him. Not much going on here...taught classes yesterday and fell into bed almost immediately. Terry had a NETFLIX movie going on the Beatles...Anthrology of the Beatles I think. It was really pretty good, but I fell asleep half way through it. Hope everyone has a great Friday. Grace, Laurie "As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you." Isaiah 66:13
COLOR YELLOW 9 x 12 inches A Painting a Day Good morning! This is a pretty smaller painting I finished up yesterday during my 14 hours in the studio. Smooth brush strokes and contrasting yellows and blues create a pleasing mixture on this piece. Grace, Laurie "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love." 1 John 4:18
A Hard Day's Work 30 x 30 inches A Painting a Day Today was a good painting day starting at 4:30 this morning. Trina drove down from Gainesville and we painted together until almost two and she headed home to her family...I painted on until now and it is five pm...that is more than 12 hours in the studio today non stop. This is a large canvas with a modern impressionistic touch to it of a cowboy roping a cow. Thick paint and thick brushes created this beauty! It will be up on eBay next week on Wednesday, but if you are interested in it now, please contact me! Grace, Laurie "But only speak the word, and let my servant be healed." Luke 7:7
Smooth Edge Poppy 18 X 36 inches A Painting a Day A gorgeous day in Texas! Low eighties today and sunshine after an early morning cool of 58 degrees. We got out and walked the dogs early today and it was nice! Today was boxing day and I shipped out 9 paintings to collectors. The posted painting I finished this past weekend and it is a lovely smooth petaled poppy. I have them planted in a garden out back and against the green of the bushes around them I caught this partial snap of the poppy in the wind. I have a few more I am painting this week too. We drove into Dallas today and I pick up some paint brushes at Asel Art in Richardson and we ate at Abboca's Italian Restaurant...YUMMMMMMM. Then to Whole Foods for organic fruit and some of their unbelievable hotdogs. Terry picked up some cookies...I came home and ate some of the gooey butter cake I made last night after dinner.... sinfully good. Grace, Laurie "Happy are those, whose hope is in the Lord their God, who made h
SUNRISE SUNFLOWER 15 x 30 inches A Painting a Day It is still raining here.... and the ground is beginning to soften and I can only hope the lake levels will raise at least an inch or more....this is 24 hours of rain. Pictured today is a sunflower that captures that moment in the early hours as the sun rises outside and the edge of night still lingers. Painted in an impressionistic style, the composition invites you into the cool morning of fall sunflowers still blooming in our Texas climate. Grace, Laurie "He sent His word and healed them. " Psalm 107:20
October 14th Morning Horses 30 x 40 inches A Painting a Day Goes on auction on eBay October 15th in the evening! Not much to say this morning...have a blank canvas before me but think I am going to take a break today and head back to bed (it is raining here) and read a good book, or sleep...it is only five thirty in the morning. Maybe later I can be creative. This thickly painted canvas has eight or nine layers of paint on it. Not sure how long it will take to dry to ship or cure out enough for a final varnish...wow...but I layered trying to achieve the color balance ...it is something I feel as I work. Often I turn away for a minute or two and turn back to get a fresh view and then attack it again. ENJOY Grace, Laurie "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31
AND THEN CAME THREE 24 x 36 inches A Painting a Day You have absolutely no idea what time it is as I sit bleary eyed at this computer. I know cousin Lucy is up in Germany....she and Robert are well into their morning. It is four thirty a.m. here and we are up and going. GOOD MORNING! Yesterday I finished up these wolves and finished one window of drapes in our bedroom. The other set of drapes is almost finished. I ran out of bobin and decided to stop at eight thirty last night. Will finish those shortly. Think I will paint for a few hours this morning. The wolves are HEAVY layered paint...I am thinking a good solid three layers. Chose some different underlays on the woods this time with some forest greens, deep blues, burnt umbers and my favorite Marigold. In contrast the foreground is white snow and the wolves are the grey wolf variety. I named all my wolves in the last painting because they were hanging next to my computer in the studio where I talked with them frequently
TRAVEL 24 x 30 inches A Painting A Day Click here to bid this week. Percentages of this sale go to Double HP Horse Rescue in South Dakota. Geez four in the morning comes early!!! This is a painting that is up in the gallery in New York, Earth Works Art Gallery in Penn Yan. I do not think this picture does it justice, it is the total feel of Santa Fe and New Mexico in general from our trip west in 2005 with my parents. I still have deep found memories of sitting out on the back porch of the B and B in Durango and listening and watching the flowing river in the back yard and the wild deer that roamed across the yard. Through in a huge family of hummingbirds and you can imagine how unbelievable the four day stay there was. This painting is probably six layers of built up paint and gels and the horse literally is carved out of the paint with the accents forming it out of caramel colors. Grace to all.... today I will finish up what is on the easel...horses again....and then sew drapes f
Early Fall Miniature Roses 8 X 10 inches A Painting A Day Rain Rain Rain....we have a rainy day. Haven't seen one of those in years. Most lakes around here are 2/3rds EMPTY and we are under restrictions on watering outside. Add that to a burn ban and life is pretty simple...But I am encouraged by this full day of rain so far as well as COOLER temps tomorrow in the sixties. A nice break from the near one hundreds we have had. I am cleaning house today, but did the final touches on these roses. Grace to you, Laurie "Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love him." James 1:12

Terry has a new work time at the airport...he is an airline mechanic for American. I am struggling with these early hours. MEANWHILE, painting goes on. I finished this lovely magnolia two days ago, but just now am sharing it on the blog. Yesterday I actually started some red poppies which are almost finished. You might see those tomorrow. The magnoilas above are soft with hints of gold, blues and violets complimented by greens and yellows. Painted with a soft small paint brush, it radiates a peaceful reflection to the time you spend staring at it! "Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me." Psalm 50:15

I stuck it in my eBay store...so you can find it there as well. May do Denver and Atlanta next....but first will be doing some horses. It is late on Monday...I am exhausted and heading to bed to read a book...AFTER I put all the groceries away. God's blessing to you all, Laurie " When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scroch you." Isaiah 43:2
Under Grandma's Quilt at the Beach 11 X 14 on Board A Painting a Day In the light of true impressionism comes this delight painting. I did sketching the night before and came straight to the easel from the sketchbook with my paint brush. I began with the mans head and then began with a small stroke of white here and there, established the quilt. The woman's head popped in next and the story began to unfold. Beautiful contrasting colors in this delightful painting! I delivered the birthday boy's painting and had hoped for a picture of him with it hanging on the wall, but there was a ton of folks at this party...mostly from CHICAGO...I was sweating that one... Sears Tower? Yeah it is in there... along with a mess of other buildings I didn't know! Hopefully I can post one day a picture of the painting hanging in it's new home! My love to Tom and his family as they travel back to the rush of Chicago today. Tom...you enjoy all the leftover food and love....as you ste
