LAST LEAVES ~ Fall Landscape by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Linen Panel Contemporary Art for the Home Contact me to purchase. $125 Laurie Pace As we pack up our home in Justin, I did one last painting of the leaves turning on the trees around me. There will be trees and leaves where we are moving, but not much land to look out on. Last night we took a load over to my mom's house. Basically boxes of china and crystal and paintings that have to be mailed next week. As we loaded the boxes...note I say we. Terry has to do the lifting of the boxes I packed, and of course they were heavy. He grunted and groaned under their weight and I scurried scooting dogs out of the way and opening and closing the doors to the garage as he passed through. The boxes fit snuggly in my daughter's SUV. (I traded my VW to her for the week.) The last box Terry carried out put me into a fit of laughter. He had picked up the box and began to walk. Somewhere the box hooked onto a spool
Colors of Central Park, New York ~ Fall Landscape Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD Contemporary Art for the Home Sunday dawns with my injured Paddy at my feet. He has an injured front paw. We searched it thoroughly last night with a flash light and he was not a happy camper as we explored the area looking for what might have induced his limp. He is slightly better this morning but still dismal and depressed with out Miss Annie here. She returned today from her weekend "SPA" visit to my son's house. She was there to help my grand dog Jena learn manners, but she was treated to a bubble bath, drying and brushing. I think maybe she got her toenails painted. Pretty fancy for an old country grandmother dog! This painting sold this week and was a joy to paint as I celebrate the colors of fall. Again choosing from my most favorite area, New York Central Park. It is painted with a wide brush stroke and added clumps of color for definit
Falling Colors ~ Autumn Trees Landscape by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home It is Friday. Morgan is coming to paint both today and tomorrow, and for those of you that always laugh about my food and eating out...TODAY IS LONESOME SPUR NIGHT. Absolutely the best hamburgers in Texas. I cannot wait. I literally will stay focused on this all day today in anticipation. Did I ever mention their unusual onion rings? I love onion rings and to this date no one does them better than Dairy Queen, except Lonesome Spur. They put some green spice in it (Basil? I have zero idea) but those onions rings are fabulous. Meanwhile back to painting. I finished this landscape yesterday and it is already sold. FRESH FRESH colors make you want to take a walk through the trees in Central Park new York. But waking this morning it is 48 degrees outside. I have every EVERY window open in the house I can open...isn't brrr wonderful? Today I am gra
THE PATH 8 x 16 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art Oil Paintings Daily Wednesday with rain east of us. We are dry so we will be watering later. I need and want to paint this morning. Too much time spent away from my studio! This painting is a colorful one full of life... I will be doing more of these collage of colors! Reminds me of the quilt we unearthed at Terry's dad's home...made by his grandmother probably in the sixties from the fabrics on the quilt. BRIGHT blues, yellows, oranges, reds etc. The quilt makes you smile when you look at it. So does this painting. No room for the blues or depression. Terry and I were reading in the Bible this morning out of Acts and then we read Jonah. Such an interesting story and conflict going on in Jonah for those sailors on the boat...what to do with the troublemaker Jonah who brought the anger of the Lord on them. Do you ever feel that way in life? I do. There are some folks that really rile me to the point th
MORNING LIGHT HAZE 30 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD It is early this morning, not quite Five a.m. We both woke up hot about an hour ago. He is snoring again...I am in the studio. Thought I would knock the blog out and then prepare his breakfast and lunch to get him out the door. This painting was finished yesterday. Inspired by a photo I saw years ago of a murky morning with haze and light intermixed, tones of yellow, caramel and white blend to create the background. The horses are done in bold browns, golds, turquoise and oranges. It is quite peaceful, but not my usual as far as palette goes. I may be experimenting again. Life is full! Fullness of Joy! Contemplation here. Remembering back to my teenage years and my grandmother and her wisdom when I would always ask about happiness. It always seemed so elusive then. Age has found a peace with contentment of what is in the moment. Each moment you breathe is JOY. Stop today and breathe slowly t
STARE 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day SOLD on Daily Painters Again from our trip... a painting from the road! The deer were abundant in Colorado! Thick paint and a fast brush tooled this composition out. Have been up since five. We had to drive the car to south west FT Worth to the auto body shop that didn't fix it right and meet with the insurance company and the shop to remedy what was not addressed. They will do the work next week. Everyone seems to be on vacation. BUT we are home now and I will be painting in the studio this morning...rather frantically I am afraid. Time to crank the music, meditate, pray and then let the spirit take over. The economy seems to be rather shaky right now. Not sure that art will be selling well over the next year. The Mortgage industry is failing and when it goes into a dive that affects the real estate market and the building market. All three of our children are in this stuff, Justin is with Nationstar Mortgage, Stacey with D
LAKE SIDE 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day Monday Monday...horses are on my easel but not this post! Three horse heads drawn on last month but not painted yet...but they are ready to come to life. This painting was from the trip...a piece painted from Colorado. Beautiful color and contrast in this capture of light and beauty...or at least my attempt at it! The Lord's beauty shines so brightly I know I barely do it justice. Today is shipping and the bug man is coming to spray. We use ECO SAFE out of Dallas and it is basically ORANGE OIL etc. I do not use chemicals in my home. Then it is off to FedEX. Terry has one week left of vacation. I am so glad he is not working in this heat. Saturday we had the dogs groomed. We have been trying to keep them clean and fighting the summer muck outside. It dawned on me this morning that Annie is older than I am. She is 8 this month...makes her 56. I need to find her bed, Terry was washing them on Sat but they have not show
Central Park Statue 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Have you ever lived a day with out electricity when it is 104 degrees outside? We survived and it was after eleven last night when we finally got power on. NOT FUN. I only worked on one piece yesterday and could not do anything else with the computer of course. This painting is restful and simple in composition. I finished this one before our trip. Terry walked in yesterday and had not seen it before we left. He stood in front of it for about five minutes and turned to me and said, "THAT'S COOL". High praise from my hubby.yes We did take 12 paintings in to Fed ex out and will do another today and hopefully head into Whole Foods to shop. There is no food. It is God's work that we did not shop yesterday or the day before because wtih 12 hours of no power I am pretty positive everything is toast in the refrigerator. Email me if you think otherwise! We had a marvelous morning yesterday with a co
Early Fall 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day SOLD My thoughts are to fall already! BUT I cannot complain with the temps as they have been in our region, but for painting I am always thinking color. We were in and out of Dallas fast yesterday...had to tend to something at home that came up quickly. We have family with surgery next Tuesday and are in the prelims of getting things ready. We are suppose to leave for Wyoming a day after that so I pray all goes well. We will be in Colorado the next week and I will be painting from there! YEAH....and taking tons of pictures. I heard from Barbie, that was visiting from Salt Lake City. She had the horror tale of the trip home with a delay that kept her a full day from reaching home. I enjoyed our visit so much! Wish she lived closer, we would definitely be active together on a daily basis. TODAY is Conni Tögel's birthday, so I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Wish we were together to share a glass of wine and some cake. Remember
