West by Northwest... wasn't that a movie with Cary Grant?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 West by Northwest Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Good morning. ..Woke with the Blues this morning, and that is not our Kerry Blues! The painting above is a favorite in my 'heart' colors of my painted ponies.  This was a large piece and was sold at Mirada Fine Art. This is the time for Holiday Commissions. Reach out to me on my website here .  Those hard days still pop up now and then . It was one this morning. I slept last night but the last three hours I was restless. I had no energy as I woke, and usually I pop right out of bed and start my day. I read a post on FB from a dear friend who lost her husband two years ago, and her words touched my heart as pain fell in tears down my face.  We are all faced with change and loss in life. In turn we are all gifted with joy and love as well. God does not ever leave us. He walks the valleys with us and He climb...

"Emma's Light" Horse Equine Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Emma's Light' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Commissioned SOLD Contact me for your very own painted pony: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 "O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our ancestors, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you ." 1 Chronicles 29:18 The Painting: It is for Miss Emma! Miss Emma is a young budding artist that lives many states north of Texas. She has a new room with new colors and her mom is a fabulous decorator, Gretchen Martini . I am honored Miss Emma will have one of my painted ponies in her room...and in return I get some of her art work, which I will hang and treasure. This is an oil painting that emerged spiritually onto a prepared canvas. The canvas had two layers of blue and Indian yellow paint on it. I began sketching and painting several days ago... and my prayers were centered in Emma and painting for her room. The Thought : ...
MORNING HERD OF NINE Contemporary Art, Palette Knife Horse Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie "For man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires." James 1:20 Icy weather is expected here today. Makes everything more difficult because folks in Dallas seem to lack the ability to understand ice on the roads. Most think it is time to go faster and slide into where you are heading. It is raining and temps are falling rapidly. The airports are in delay and schools are debating schedules for closure. Meanwhile Terry and I went to Whole Foods late last night and did our grocery shopping. We are stocked for the week and ready for the cold. Stacey will stay at home with Larry today because of the roads and we all will pray no labor in the ice storm. Today is a suggestion that you either talk to yourself in the mirror or write something down on paper. Sometimes we get "stu...
REBOUND Study 1 Palette Knife Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 36 inches SOLD ALREADY! THANKS! 1/2-3/4 inch thick paint from Buttery pulls of Oil! The night sky still shrouds the earth in the early cool of the morning. It is not quite six o'clock. One would think the city remained asleep but it never went to sleep. That is one of the things I dislike about living in town....There is a time to rest and from my earlier life I remember Blue Laws that kept stores closed on Sunday. Our lives have become stressed only because we allow them to be this way. Our lives go 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks in a year for how ever many years God grants us on this earth. I believe we all need more rest. Rest in Him. Since the creation of Adam and Eve, man has had this built in need to challenge God, challenge life and do it our way. Often our actions are in direct disobedience to God's word We have failed to recognize before us the tremendous benefits and blessings t...

I have written before about letting go and letting God... and today I want you think about your life as a grand gift that is before you. You cannot even imagine what is in the plan for today. Focusing on God and allowing a release to Him and being ready to receive. Let go of thoughts of physical or emotional pain that you carry around. Clear out your body and mind for Him to heal what is there. We cannot fix what is wrong in our lives, but we can focus on Him. Through Him we are able to let go and find the peace we need to heal both physically and spiritually. BE ENTHUSIASTIC TODAY! GOD IS GOOD! Grace, Laurie "You show me the path of life. STORM MOVING IN ~ Abstract Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 X 38 X 2 inches Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home BRRR, continues to be cold in the mornings. I don't know if I will walk this morning or do my dance DVD! Says it is 43 outside. I usually draw the line at 48 or 50 for walking. Today I will only work on some small pieces. I have to finish some other house business first. This large piece I did last week. Not sure what I will do with it, send it to one of the galleries of sell it from here. Just one of those that emerged from deep with in. New opportunities seem to crop up in different directions. I really enjoy the calls out of nowhere that God seems to bring into my life and I meet a new family wanting art. It is such an honor to paint for families and know my work is in their home. The Lord nudges us all along in our journeys here. Often we cling to the past not wanting to move on, but we must, having faith that He knows the direction we ...
ENERGY OF FIVE 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day RAIN and cooler temps from the hurricane that is blowing through our area...no blowing righit now, but as I look outside my realtor's for sale sign is gone...LOL. This painting was finished two days ago. Celebrating life and color and the heat of August, those emotions are the ones that pushed this to the surface of the canvas. It began as a floral with entwining stems and leaves of color and then the movement of the paint took life and from it came my painted ponies! Today I will be home painting unless we have to run into Dallas. We were there yesterday and ate at Uncle Julios...Mexcian food. Yummmm. Much lies before us in decisions and loved ones in our lives. Terry and I draw closer as we are centered in the awareness of Spirit and the presence of the Lord. Our lives are unpredictable and the only calm is in Him. Today forgive others for any perceived wrongdoing. and forgive yourself for holding thoughts of bei...
Light of the Paints 22 X 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD A Hand signed and embellished giclee is available...contact me! This is the larger painting I did from the study painting of the single painted pony. Still feel there are areas I would do differently. I have been corresponding with Don Barnes ( CLICK HERE FOR HIS WEBSITE) and his emails area pushing me more toward painting smaller...while I think I am pushing him larger! My hang up is color, gee can you tell. Color is a passion with me and I cannot seem to help it! Color seems to carry vibrations and energy and I want that in my paintings. I am up rather early, Terry is sound asleep...I was awaken by the train this morning, or should I say TRAINS! My mind kept churning and thinking preparing for the canvas, so I gave up and got up! No phone ringing, no dogs under my feet....I can just paint with out interruption. Are you taking the time to take care of yourself and your needs? Remember God created you too.....
HEATED PONY Wild Horse 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Why the heated pony? Well, my hubby came in and gesso the canvas for me...FIRST TIME, I might add. He was so cute and so capable. I will have to enlist his help again. As I approached the dried gesso and realized the talent with in as he had added impasto to it as well, the surface carried a thick sculpted look to it. The energy vibrating off was magnificent. (I had asked his help because of my pulled neck.) He stood there with my largest palette knife in his hand and had gesso and impasto from his finger tips to his elbows. I was working on another piece, but turned to see what I envisioned on the canvas. I began to attack it thinking of just large ponies but that was not to be...the ponies emerged and I shot some pictures, just to go back and add about two more layers of paint. Then I took more pictures. Still unsatisfied, I went back and began to scrap parts of the canvas ...geez there was a lot of paint there...
