Thick layering of Paint Longhorn Painting Two by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

The Thick Paint is layering up on  Longhorn 2.   This is the second of two longhorn paintings in the studio this month. It was also powerful over 2000 years ago.  Human desire is to be loved and accepted by someone. Do you open your heart to others different from you? Acceptance implies an ability to listen and be open.   While you desire that of others, do you in turn offer it to others?   Listening to another persons point of view does not imply you must alter yours. Listening is simply listening and acknowledging to that person that you are attentively hearing what they say.  From this perspective it allows you to accept people for who they are with out judgement. There are people of other cultures,

As kids, those card houses never stood long either. I borrowed the cards from another blog. You may click them to visit it. God will continue to work around us and sometimes we end up going places the wrong direction but it is needed to get back to Him. In other words, there are some experiences we are to have to learn who we are. Only then will we discover the direction for our lives. In these wiser years I am beginning to be very hesitant on pushing ahead with any ideas before praying about it.  Best to turn to Him before doing anything. You do not want to build another house of cards. God is needed for the foundation of everything we do. Words of my heart, Laurie A Texas Artist Laurie

Make a joy list this morning. Focus on the happy things, the simple things and the things you do have.   During the day make a point to shift your focus when you encounter pain or frustration.  Put on your favorite music, or start singing your favorite song in your head. Make yourself go in a different direction.

Having lost close to 20 pounds last year and staying at the lower weight for over a year now, I really am ready to lose the last ten pounds. I seem to forget again that my body is a gift and it houses my spirit and soul for this earthly journey. My bad habits and temptations from life are always pulling on me. Somehow it bothers me at night when I climb into bed and think about the day and groan... and then in prayer in the morning KNOWING what I need to do.  Then stress will hit from somewhere during the day and

What renews you to wake this day and go about your life? What inspires you and motivates you?  Where do you spend time?   Where ever that is, the place you spend time, is what creates your frame of mind. If you are not happy or not inspired or not finding a smile on your face when you wake up... you seriously need to make some changes in your life. We get so focused in life on finishing things (I am one of the worst!) and completing a job or task that we miss out on life.  This is a wake up call to you my friend. The more you do and take on, the less time you are spending in

Healing takes place on many levels in life: Physical, spiritual and psychological. Relationships exist on many levels in life: Physical, spiritual and psychological. There exists you on the outside. The "you" we all see and think we know. The "you" that you allow us to know.  We only seem to share parts of who we are with others. At levels deeper within ourselves there are things we do n

Why is it so hard for us to let go and settle in somewhere? Comfort is the couch or easy chair with a blanket to tuck around you in this cold weather. The next comfort is the heated mattress pad our daughter bought us a few years ago. Makes going to bed PURE comfort.  What is comfort? Comfort speaks to the ease of the Spirit, to enjoy resting in the arms of God, feeling His warm surrounding you; feeling His peace fill you. Feel Him in silent moments. Feel Him in the midst of chaos. He is there surrounding you through all times...not just those snuggly lets get close times.  Learn to release your fears and drop all those rocks you carry around.  Reharge by His closeness. I shared on Facebook that my kids grew up different than most on the block.  Coming from a German family, we always had a visit from St. Nick on the evening of the 5th of December.  As children we hung our stockings awaiting the decision of St Nick if we had been naughty or nice. Mom filled the stocking with small presents, fruits and candy. Back in the 'old days' we did not really get expensive big gifts. So as my children were born we continued the tradition of St Nick. Christmas was reserved more for the spiritual aspect and all the wonderful happenings wrapped around our advent wreath morning and night followed up by Church and all of its Christmas pageants and Christmas Eve services. I know we did a small gift from Santa each year for our

It is that 'object' or 'event' that if it just was resolved or if it just happened we could be happy.  We wait and wait on that to come to us...watching out the window for it to 'arrive'. This second week in advent would be the perfect time to turn away from that window of desire.  Talk to Him about it. Let Him know what is in your heart and mind and then let it go. As you pass through this day begin new ways of responding to challenging r
