The Magnolias at Mema's by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches, Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home I am on the first leg of my journey pushing into the wilds of Dallas to set up at the Arboretum for the ARTSCAPE event this weekend. In the past 30 minutes I have managed to pull my back out loading my stuff in the truck, then I used my key to get into my daughter's house 10 min early and set their house alarm off. Of course I woke everyone up and here and half the neighborhood. I told her I was coming. After getting settled inside with portions of my "Stuff" and trying to use my MAC, their Link System is of course protected. I decided it was unwise to wake them again, after all it is just five fifteen in the morning. I spotted Larry's laptop in the living room and I am pounding away on a pc. I stuck my Lexar mini drive in to post a new painting (Yes I have one, and I have been working!) and realized I picked up the wrong mini drive, so the
Mother's Magnolias Oil on Canvas 24 X 36 inches A Painting a Day CLICK HERE TO BID. SOLD WE ARE HOME! I am reposting this painting because it is on eBay and has no bids. It is truly a beautiful painting and I am hoping to find a new home for it! If not, it will hang here until the right one comes available. We returned early from Breckenridge. I spent part of yesterday morning in the ER with Altitude Sickness...I had gotten worse and suddenly I was totally disoriented. Thank goodness for Terry and our friends, Arlo and Jan from Arizona. They bundled me right to the ER and after checking me out I was on oxygen for about three hours as we- oops as THEY packed to descend the mountainous terrain. WOW. We missed out on our last afternoon and night together. We had not seen these wonderful friends in almost ten years. Jan has always been like my older sister and Arlo, gee, he is an original~! He and Terry could talk airplanes all day. (Arlo was in the airforce...) Jan and I, well w
Evening Waterlily 14 x 18 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Yesterday was a day of GRACE. Both my father in law and my dad were in two separate hospitals having heart related surgery. The Lord was with us as both of them came through with flying colors!!!! Relief and thanksgiving are still on our lips as we woke this morning. Terry and I are up early, TOO early since he will work until midnight tonight...but he is packing paintings that will travel to Wyoming for my show Friday. All systems go with the exception of another sinus headache and issues that may prohibit flying. I cannot even imagine trying to drive it in the time we have....so I am praying for healing right now. This painting was completed on Sunday. It is a relaxing simple breath of evening...cool colors and cooler moments! Smooth brushwork and delicate blendings add to the composition. As your life unfolds, remember to give thanks for everything in the journey. Grace, Laurie “He stood up to read, and the scroll
Dahlia RED Flower Art 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Well, I barely have my eyes open...pretty bad sinus headache this morning...bad enough I won't eat or sit at this screen very long! This dahlia was painted yesterday and is painted with a thick brush and even thicker paint! Layers of red, orange, coral and some pinks complimented with a deep sap green, yellow green and black creeping in on the edges. Definitely something to brighten a room with blooms! Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary.... I have known Terry since I was eleven. We have quite a history! Have to figure that one out today too in between painting and hot water packs on my face!~ Harmony in relationships is the Daily Word thought for today....hits at the right time for sure...but God's timing is NEVER off! Grace, Laurie “Be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.”—Philippians 2:2
Pink Magnolia Blooms 16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Simplicity in design and color! Sort of Fresh in the mind...as I painted this. Not as free as most of my work, but holding it's own in colors and contrast. Our weather continues to be a blessed gift of cool evening temps and nice warm day temps. We have showers yesterday and the tomato plants are growing....as are the new trees and flower beds! I am hitting the canvas hard today. Conni Togel is flying in from Greenville SC with daughter Annie. I am excited and want to get some of my work knocked out.I have no idea what it will be like trying to paint with a super artist in the house...could be intimidating! Conni's older two daughters came and stayed with Terry and I last summer and we had a blast! So it was Conni's turn to come with the youngest! Yesterday was filled with packing and shipping and sending off two huge packages to a designer in Hong Kong...horses of course. She has one more I need to
Texas Sunflowers Hwy 75 Oil on Canvas 11 x 14 inches A Painting a Day SOLD Good morning! Boy was I glad to be back home yesterday. We drove into Dallas for a Doc visit, groceries and a stop for shoes at Whole Earth Provisions. BUT from the first step out of the car in Dallas my sinus reacted violently swelling shut to the ozone in the air. After we left and arrived home early evening,...but bed I was fine. They say this spring is the worst on record for allergy sufferers and they also said it was actually worse in the city than the country which is reverse of what you would think. Has something to do with the pollen clinging to the pollution in the air. On with life! Today is finish wash day and prepare for painting this week. I will be working on another sunflower similar to the one above. This one is on auction with ARTBYUS.com. Wish more buyers looked there, much nicer to work with the Togels and this great auction place for art. You might check it out!~ This painting has T
Magnolia Peace 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day $499 I made add some more tones to this one....it didn't photograph well, it is a bit more warm in overall feel with all the lovely caramel brown tones. I finished this one up yesterday. BIGGEST NEWS...it is raining raining raining. We are desperate for rain so this is a welcome thing. Last night I was snuggled in bed and Terry called out for me to come sniff....he smelled smoke. As I hit the den and took a whiff, I whirled around and grabbed jeans and shoes and began exploring with him. Nothing had problems in the attic, or out front, but in back it was smokey and smelly...and it was pouring down rain. We continued to search for 10 min and finally I called a neighbor on the reverse side of the circle where we live and asked them to go outside...it was strange because I could not smell the smoke in the front, only the back...we are on acreage. In just moments they confirmed the same smoke and smell....we still do n
Brilliant Red Gerbera 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day $499 Good morning. I did not make Dallas this morning...headache is a lingering thing right now. I am struggling with some hands I am painting for a commission piece. I have prayed about it and it hit me to try it over on a linen or smoother canvas. I really dislike starting over since I have 12 hours in this painting, but it is not working.... so today we will regroup. Meanwhile yesterday I finished this painting....VERY thick paint and a criss cross pattern. Bright and cheery and ready to finish drying to travel to it's new home, where ever that might be! We have MAC class again this afternoon. MAC Quicken...ugh ugh UGH UGH. Can't say it loud enough and to top it off, QUICKEN lies...I was told it was identical to the PC version and it IS NOT. It is watered down milk toast in comparison. SOOOO we enrolled into QUICKEN MAC classes to make sure I am not missing something. Tomorrow I may appologize! BUT
