SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I was painting with Lady L in the studio as I began this one. The surface paint again in acrylic and then about 10 over layers of oil before the horse is started. With the horse there are at least five more layers of paint. These take a two to three hours each to do and right now I am promising to do them at $100 each... but I am thinking about doing a few a bit larger for $145 each as well.   Email me your thoughts on this.  I was thinking 12 x 12. It seems to open up so much potential for larger paintings.  There is a sense of freedom with the color and the fear of 'correctness' does not seem to creep in. The creation is in the palette and the mix directly on the canvas. Again with this horse painting there is a layer of colors of acrylics and then the oils pulled on top in the same areas. It is 'accidental' happenings as they mix and take form. Yesterday Terry and I drove out to east Texas to Mount Vernon where we use to live. I tried to reach Ann on our way there, but I missed her. Terry and I spent most of yesterday traveling to several Central Markets in Dallas to see if this was HEB wide or just with the Southlake Store.  It definitely was just that store.   I stopped in to see the GM, but he was in Italy.  So I phoned and was put through to visit with the head of Operations here in the Dallas area.  They have my images and my work and they know my feelings about this. This morning's painting is thick and rich with energy contrast in the pulls of paint. Some of the paint is a quarter inch deep.  This will take until late March before it can ship, but this horse painting is available, along with others directly on my website, or visit my galleries for larger paintings. Terry has been busy up in the garage. We have an attic space up there but only a tiny crawl space to get up there from the garage. Inside the house we have a huge walk up access to another attic area, but this one is special.  He intends to put a door in a room that backs up to this huge space and make this area a huge closet. I have been working on a buffalo painting and of course these are some of the strongest colors in the painting and I had 'leftovers' on my palette.  There is a natural flow to both the color and the movement which is really neat to me as I rotated the canvas adding colors not really paying attention to the patterns or overlays. The composition is as strong as the single horse as a strong foundation behind the 'etching' of the horse.  Touches of Lavender, reds, oranges, mauves and turquoise season the painting. 9 x 12 inches, this freshly painted oil is Horse #7 in this years 100 Horses for $100, but please note NOT in 100 days.  These are so creative and magical to me as I paint them, I want to keep them fresh and unforced.
