The Wise Ones - Contemporary Horse Painting by Laurie Pace

I may use something similar on the dogs I am starting. The collector lives in CA and has several of my paintings and she reached out hoping for something contemporary with her babies.  I am still debating on the approach but know in my heart, when I start I will let go and let the paint flow.  I watched a shared video on FB this last week. It was entitled: Just Go Quietly On.   I enc

The Usual Suspects, Contemporary Wolf Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 The Usual Suspects 32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas.  Available at Mirada Fine Art.  I really need to get a better image so I may have to post this one  again later this week with the finished touches of color. This is 90% done.  This is where it hangs around and I study and observe changes I want to make or colors I want to add. Heavy Holbein Oils and my favorite palette knife created this contemporary Wolf Painting, The Usual Suspects.  I know I am getting somewhere when Terry walks in and ponders the painting.  Even more important when Paddy walks in and his ears go back and he growls.  I think he has been watching too much TV. I keep telling him Walking is healthier than TV.   There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.  Psalm 19:3 Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   My Blog          My Website          Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Card

Family Heart, Contemporary Mixed Media Heart Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Family Heart 12 x 12 inches Mixed Media on Canvas. SOLD  This was a commissioned piece for early January that I have been working on.  It had a few progression shots, but I am trying to keep life a bit more simple and share things that I finish as I do them. This collage mixed media piece is filled with things that are important to this family including birthday's and thoughts. A family share life daily and nightly and these days of compiling energy and sharing are brought forth into a simple piece of art reminding them of their journey. "And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:"  1 Kings 9:4 Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   My Blog          My Website          Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards

Art Lesson on line and color by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Art Lesson using Line and Color    This week I want to work on an exercise to loosen your thoughts and inspire your creativity.  Painting is ahead but I want some foundation and work done before doing a lot of painting. You need to be using all the elements and having full grasp of different mediums at the same time. If I gave you the math problem of 8 + 3 = N, you know how to solve for N.  But how many ways can you get there?  That is limited. If I give you the art problem of Line + Color = N , N is limitless. You can do this with Paint, you can do this with crayons, you can do this with markers, you can do this with craypas or watercolors or anything. You can even collage using lines and color. There is no given subject, no given rules or guidelines.  Here is a painting I did in 2008.  Gives you an idea  to loosen you up with thoughts and plan a composition of maybe a vase with flowers...or a cityscape with the buildings in black and white and the sky in co

I was speaking again to our Pastor this week following the death of someone very close and dear to my family.  Writing often of God's call to us, Jack gave more insight in his reflections yesterday.  When death comes, it marks but the end of our 'calling' here on earth. While a new journey begins with death, it is not ours to judge others on how they lived their life, but it is ours to rejoice in the life they did share with all of us. Words spoken, embraces exchanged, subjects debated, lives intertwined, tears shared, birth and death celebrated, all through the direction of the Father and His plans for

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website   What a twisted day yesterday.  We left early morning to go pick up the truck in Mt Pleasant and I was all excited about the day.  Obviously God had other plans; either that or I chose a path that lead to the chaos.  From one phone call of over an hour to the next one of over two hours and back to sketching a painting or two on canvas, then working on meta descriptions and tweaking things on the www.cfaintl.com website aka www.contemporaryfineartinternational.com .... to more calls from family and then from new collector for a commission piece.  I cannot really complain because I know it is unfolding the way it will unfold and I am working as hard as I can to stay ahead of the drain.  The downfall of the day was when the CFAI site had to be removed and reloaded.  That is a 2 hour process but somethin

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Painted Ponies        This is a short blog this morning.  We slept in a bit and are going to go visit my Dad this morning. Yesterday afternoon there came dark clouds, a sprinkle of rain and by 6:30 it was only 75 degrees outside.  We took Paddy for a walk and enjoyed every single step.  Many folks were out in the lake boating in the light sprinkles... we were enjoying the view walking. It is times like this I walk in wonderment of all of nature around us. The simple beauty on a summer eve with a light drizzle and a break from 107 degree heat. Each day there are gifts God has put out for us to find along the way. Often we are way busy with our minds going in other directions and we actually miss moments of life. They are slipping right by us.  I challen

See what being retired does?  Better Late than Never...here is the blog I wrote early this morning. I posted it to publish at seven a.m. but on the wrong day. I am up and preparing for a major paint day today.  I am working on pieces for the Colorado Gallery.  My canvas shipment arrived late Thursday, but I wanted to play a bit yesterday and that I did.  Painting for fun is always very expressive and I usually like what comes out.... and that was Summer Pony above.  It is a new technique on canvas that I am exploring, and I hope you enjoy viewing as much as I enjoyed painting it. We went fishing yesterday morning.   We were on a pier next door to ou

(Ben says that all the time..." you can get glad just like you got sad. (or mad)."  You do that by counting your blessings.  Aunt Dorothy (Ben's sister) use to say if she could not sleep at night she would start with the letter A and say a prayer and bless every person she knew with a name that started with A. Then she would move to B and through the alphabet.  She never made it through with out falling asleep. She said often she would start at M and go forward just to cover new territory blessing her friends and family. This might be a good exercise to actually sit down and do to see how many folks you remember that are bl

Read about it on Retired on Golden Pond   I am not sure if I am running the direction of multi-tasking or writing about too many distractions.   On the Golden Pond Blog it was about too much TV watching.  When you think about it there are a lot of distractions in our lives and we seem to multi-task through most of them.  Things are different at our current house because we are still not set up all the way.   At the last house,  if I was cooking I either had the TV on in the kitchen for noise, or the stereo play

The Violinist Contemporary Art Mixed Medium Music Painting by Texas Aritst Laurie Pace

'The Violinist' 15 x 30  Mixed Medium on Canvas  Another stunning music piece.  This one is a violinist of the gentlest kind. The music is from Great Grand-daddy Haskell's collection. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 www.lauriepace.blogspot.com www.ellepace.com www.thepaintedpony.ne t The Thought:  I remember the first violin I ever saw...but I don't remember the first one I ever heard.  The voice of a violin is incredibly different.  The strings that sing so sweetly emulate the most beautiful sounds of the human voice. Yet for me they are even better: the ease of the melody sliding and swiftly moving, out plays the ability of the human voice.  There is no way the human voice could match the dancing tones and levels of the strings of the violin in motion. God's grace is the sweet melody offered to each of us.   It emulates His strength and power in every note.  Our lives are so
