Finding Peace Contemporary Art Daily Horse Painting with Palette Knife by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 20 x 2 inches of thick Oil Contact me to purchase. Should be dry and ship before Christmas. Laurie Don't forget to stop by www.LakewoodSeries.blogspot.com . Stay updated with the events in this new Christian Book Series. Saturday finds me here ready to paint. This is one I worked on yesterday. I think it is done. I like the play on colors and the subtle changes of light. Hence the title FINDING PEACE . First I would suggest we examine the definition of peace. Webster tells me it is a state of tranquility or quiet; freedom from civil disturbance; freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions; a harmony in personal relationships. Who would not want that in their life? The perfect state of tranquility...wow. I would believe in my heart most of you reading this would yearn for tranquility and quiet, even if it were only for a short fifteen minutes. Think what you could
PUPPY LOVE Contemporary Art Daily Painting Dog Schnauzer by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 inches of Oil SOLD Contact me for commission work for Christmas: Laurie I think I am burned out on cooking for awhile. I had everything made but the cornbread stuffing and left that for my eldest son to fix when he got here. It is something that is a no brainer and he actually is a wonderful cook. When he and Jan arrived she and I decided we would work on the tree and I set Justin to work in the kitchen. It only took about 20 min and I had to go assist. What I had forgotten was how totally messy he is. I spent more time cleaning up than I did anything else. I think I clocked in about 12 hours in cooking and clean up. Then when everyone left they took bags full of food and Terry and I will buy another Turkey this weekend so we can have a week of left overs. I told Terry HE could do the cooking! The fresh cranberries were awesome....as was the stuffing. Two of my favorites! I have not had br
Run with the Girls Contemporary Art Daily Painting Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace COMMISSION SOLD 36 x 36 x 2 inches CONTACT ME for your own painting. Still time before Christmas! Laurie Don't forget to visit my new blog for my new Christian Books, The Lakewood Series. It is early on Thanksgiving. I just got Terry out the door and the dogs already had breakfast. It is 5:45 a.m. as I type this. Yesterday or rather last night, I finished this commission painting for a young couple with two daughters. The mom liked the idea after I sent her the sketches, that it reminded her of the three females in their family, she as the mom and her two daughters. Hence the title, Run with the Girls. Also yesterday I made an organic pumpkin pie; a homemade, hand-cracked pecan pie (Made with real maple syrup NOT corn syrup); fresh organic cranberries with organic navel oranges, organic Pink Lady Apples; Oey Goey St Louis Butter Cake and organic sweet potatoes the old fashion way with brow

Morgan has to work all day as does Terry. But Terry will be home by 3:30 and Morgan has to work until eleven tomorrow night. They have over 900 reservations at the restaurant he works at. That is a HUGE amount. Give thanks today as you begin your preparations. Everything in your sight and beyond is from Him. Bask in the delight of His love as you make those pies. Enjoy this quiet time alone to nourish and replenish your spirit to prepare for the bustle of tomorrow.
Searching Contemporary Art Daily Painting Horse by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for a similar painting. Laurie This is a quick blog today. Terry and I have a date at Target to buy gifts for the family we took on the Angel Tree at NorthPark Mall. FIVE children in this group so we are ready to roll with our list. I encourage you to give this season in some way. If you have time to serve food to the homeless, do it. If you can knit shawls for nursing homes, do it. If you can simply call someone you know needs to hear a voice, do it. Give thanks for His Graciousness! KRYSTA Contemporary Art Daily Painting Portrait of a Child by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas COMMISSION SOLD Contact me to paint someone special in your life: Laurie I was searching through pictures for my new book that I am compiling similar to this blog and came across "Krysta". She was one of my art students for 6 years and as she grew I used her often as a model. I think you can see why. She had those eyes that just held the world. This was painted four years ago but I wanted to share it! This is the type painting I LOVE doing but it takes weeks to finish one like this. When doing a painting for someone I pride myself in the personal touch department. PTD. It would be great if we taught PTD in the classroom. PTD would be responsible for teaching our children to do acts of kindness with a personal touch. Helping an elderly lady with her bags of groceries; walking the neighbor's dog; throwing your neighbor's newspaper up by their front do
Tagging Along SOLD contact me: Laurie I have been playing for two days with different mediums. Today I will return to some oil and pack paintings for the Red Tree Gallery. I have to pick up a few frames at the Dutch Art Gallery on Monday before I finish up. Yesterday I worked on my book submission and hope to have it complete next week. It takes so long...longer than writing at times. Checking and double Checking everything so the proposal is perfect for submission. Don't forget to check out my fictitious journal blog of Lauren Mooring a character from the book: www.LakewoodSeries.blogspot.com Today Lauren blogs about Nanie's cookies and includes an easy kid friendly recipe for the holidays. Stacey and Larry came around twelve and picked me up. We went to Target where I got to tag along as they completed their registry for baby gifts. I had her choose two of some things as I know Terry and I have nothing to prepare for this arrival. We met Terry for a late lunch and the
YOUNG GRAY contemporary art horse mixed medium horse painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches watercolor and acrylic on gallery wrap canvas. contact me to purchase: Laurie Brr, it is cold outside! Saturday morning it is 6:30 am and I just finished taking pictures of this painting above that I did yesterday. This is mixed mediums using watercolor and acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas, so it does not have to be framed. I would frame it though. This is my third painting in this new series. I have just started a new blog yesterday called www.LakewoodSeries.blogspot.com . Here I am posting the fictitious journal of Lauren Mooring, a character in my first book of this series. I started writing these in 2002 and I was not directed toward any market, but when I began editing two years ago I switched to the venue for Christian fiction. I have several favorite Christian fiction authors that wow me at times with their writing. Others are more bland and not as articulate, but still go
DANCE WITH JOY Contemporary Art Daily Painting Horse Oil by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 36 inches of COLOUR!!! Commission and SOLD For your own painting, contact me and lets do something to put some light in your life! Laurie I read a line yesterday that caught my eye and stayed with me through the night. When everything changes, change everything. What does that mean to you? As I survey the world around me, it changes every millisecond. BUT my life doesn't change that often, so when it does, perhaps that is the time to change everything. When you are feeling trapped, in the hole, desperate, sad, etc... because of changes in your life, then it is time to change everything. First, bring God back into your life. FULL TIME. When you do and you make it a habit, things will change for the better. Maybe not the situation but for sure the way you look at it and handle it. Some folks need to adjust how they deal with things in their lives and not allow anger and hurt to dictate emotions.
Ava and Eden Contemporary Art Child Portrait Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 Commissioned Oil Painting Contact me for additional information: Laurie We took two photos and combined them to get the girls in the same painting to include their matching dresses from this special occasion. This is a close up of each face. I want to work a tiny bit on shadows on the top cherub. Her mom wants her hair a bit less puffy so I will reduce the side by the flower. The bottom angel has such dark beauty it is hard to capture. I had the painting much looser but the buyer wants it tighter so I will be making some changes in some things today and hopefully will finish up. I am hoping to be done with this painting today. It is a commission piece of two beautiful girls that live in Canada. I know I can't possibly do them full justice, but today I will be finishing up the last touch ups. Please if you see something I am missing, email me! One of my daily messages I read spoke on Hur
Ready to Travel Contemporary Art Mixed Medium Horse Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Thank you! Contact me to purchase: Laurie Yes, I know I am late posting. But below is yesterday's painting finished!! And above the one I was working on this morning that is almost finished. Yesterday Terry finished up sheet rock in our bedroom where last March the electrician had blasted through to rewire the house. It has been a long time coming to get that completed. Still needs one more coat of paint, but last night he and I worked dusting and cleaning the bedroom so we could fall into bed! Still need to clean the fan AND the upper deck/loft is FULL of dust from sanding. Next will be the other ten places that need to be finished up! Morgan was over yesterday too, and he hung lights in the garden room for the holidays. I may leave them up as they are white lights and very pretty how he did them. I attempted to take pictures but my camera can't quite capture them at night and when
THE JOURNEY Contemporary Art Daily Painting Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 10 x 10 In process...not yet finished but close. Contact me if you are interested: Laurie ONLY a quick blog as we are heading out to the Barber Shop and then Lowes and then home to work. Did not make lunch yesterday as Annie, the older Kerrie Blue, decided she was ready for an outing and outed out of the backyard. It took us two hours of searching to find her and then 20 min to catch her. We were both worn out by that time and in no mood to eat lunch as our breakfast was still bouncing around in our stomachs! Closing out. That is my message this morning. Do you close people, places or things out of your life? Do you avoid things on purpose and not get involved? Sometimes we do this out of anxiety or fear that we do not fit in or we are not good enough. We justify it in our minds with other thoughts like "I just don't have time." or "I will try it next week." or "I don'
FRISCO LONGHORN Contemporary Art Longhorn Palette Knife Oil Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches of THICK glorious Color! COMMISSION PIECE SOLD Contact me if you need a Longhorn! Laurie Monday begins with daylight already through the studio windows. I am packing paintings this morning and Terry and I will meet Mom and my brother and sister-in-law for lunch. I think it is fish day. When I was asked to be a part of Earth Works Art Gallery in Penn Yan New York, I was totally blown away by the generosity of the owner, Billie Bauman. She built this gallery with a purpose to touch lives along the way. She was generous with her split with the artist and of her portion she donated 10-15% to the charity of the artist's choice. In the end the Gallery only gained about 25% to pay bills and cover salaries. The Gallery often has a tight budget, but the work it does multiplies out into the world through her continued generosity. Click here to see Earth Works Art Gallery Did
NIGHT FALL Contemporary Art Seascape Palette Knife Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me for additional information or to purchase. Laurie Yesterday I hit Lowe's for some new colors in the garden room. I am waiting for help from Morgan to put up new twinkle lights in there and slowly over the next few weeks I will begin decorating that room for the holidays. I wanted to get a large little decorative pine tree but I was in my Passat and it just wouldn't fit with all the other flowers. There is something rejuvenating about playing in dirt and re potting things to give them grow room. God's grace is abundant in our lives. Share yourself with someone today. Give with out someone knowing you gave. Work behind the scenes as God does in our lives. God continues on a daily basis to grace us all with His unconditional love and acceptance. Do you grace this to all those that cross your path? Grace is every gentle yet ever powerful in it enfol
PINK Contemporary Art Flower Gerbera Daisy by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Saturday and good morning! I have been contemplating the last 24 hours on today's thought and was up and down on it until just this morning. It is subject well covered by many over and over again, but I will do it as a reminder, and perhaps it is meant to just touch one person today, only God knows. Terry and I have possibly made some unwise choices with all our moves from house to house. Each one had a good reason at the time, but none of them were for us. We are always looking out after others and trying to do what is good for the family. We have lived in 10 different houses in the past 19 years. One of those was a five year stay, so you can only imagine about the others. The negative was the toll it took on our kids, but we stayed in two school districts with all moves. Friends never changed, nor did family. The positive is that Terry and I both realize how unimportant a bri
Mt Vernon Moos Contemporary Art Farm Cow Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD TGIF.... well for Terry it is not, but for the rest of the world it is. His TGIF is Sunday. It is strange living with this weird schedule and I am still not adjusted to it, but very thankful he has his job with American. He is at 21 years now. Thank goodness it's Friday. I remember this mantra from the seventies. Somewhere in there they came out with "Hump Day" being Wednesday. Gotta make it through Hump Day before you can get to TGIF. Our instinct is to focus on what is ahead. The instincts we had as children are based on emotions leading us like a compass due north. What did we need? We needed to be fed when we were hungry. We wanted to be held and feel safe and happy. As we grew out of the toddler years we wanted to feel needed and have jobs that came with independence. From that we found purpose and that we could please people and they were smiling at us. This basic navigation tr
UNEASY WEATHER Contemporary Art Abstract Palette Knife Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Energy. This painting is full of energy for sure. Are you full of it? Oliver Wendall Holmes said, "The mode in which the inevitable comes to pass it through effort." In one of the daily blurbs I received today, Neale Donald Walsch said, "While God is there to help us every step along the way, there is no free pass in life, and what occurs occurs as a result of the energy you give it." That is something to thing about. It covers all energies....mental, emotional, spiritual and physical. Where do you expend the most? Today be aware of where you put in the most effort in your life and then examine this evening the results of it. If you need to refocus tomorrow try putting energy into a different area. I believe today I will put my energy in to giving emotionally. We have a respite child with us for several days and it is important for me to allow the child access
HORSE WHISPERER Original Contemporary Art Impressionistic Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace The Owner of this painting lives in Virginia. She is preparing for downsizing in her life and contacted me that she wants to sell this original painting. It is 24 x 24 Oil on Canvas. Please email her if you are interested in this painting. NIKI This piece is soft impressionism and done with a wild brush and generous paint. I am still not adjusted to Day Light Savings Time. Between those government people and the IRS I share no love. I cannot figure this out because 100 percent of the people I visit with do NOT want DLS anymore. AND they do not want the IRS. It should be abolished and we should all pay national sales tax on what we buy. That way those that buy are taxed. You might say the wealthy will buy outside the country, but remember there are import taxes on things brought back in through customs. There has to be a better way. The next thing jumping around in my mind are the co
FACING THE SUN 2 Contemporary Art Palette Knife Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 x 2 inches of thickly applied 3D paint! Contact me for pricing: Laurie The storms continue to rage early this morning through north Texas and did so all through the previous night. I was up at six to let the dogs out and I gave Annie double on her meds as she has not slept all night long. She is curled in the corner of the studio hyperventilating right now. Paddy is asleep on his bed next to me. Lightening flashes continual outside the windows and the thunder rolls overlapping in loud roars, vibrating the lights overhead and the pictures on the walls. Storms are usually something that we think of that come quickly, blow hard and make their way through the area leaving either cooler weather or hot muggy weather here in Texas. Depends if the storms roll out of the north or the south from the the gulf. It is all part of that seasonal thing for constant change in motion. These storms are sor
Making Music Contemporary Art Portrait by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas COMMISSION SOLD Monday dawns with rain. I was actually up at four hustling the dogs outside. Our oldest dog has fear of storms and she makes messes everywhere, so the only way around that is to get her out to do her duty and then drug her. The drugs do not do much but I am hoping they are taking the edge off for her. But back to bed and here I am at 8:30 still in my pjs blogging. The storms outside remind of God's strength. We often opt not to rely on this comfort knowing He will protect and see us through anything in our lives. So as I have rain and winds today I will sit back and enjoy the fury of the storms and know He is at work. At work outside and at work in my life and yours. Grace, Laurie “God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.” Jo
NOVEMBER SKIES Contemporary Art Abstract Palette Knife Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase... this is one of my highly collected painted pony pulls. Laurie This painting pulls in every fall color you can imagine in the landscape right now. That is why I entitled it November Skies. Seems like the fall season magnifies the Lord's glory in living color that shouts to his glory, just to be quieted for the winter season of quiet cool colors. If you have time today, sit outside and soak in the beauty of fall. Even if it is cold, pull on a jacket and meditate while observing the changes the earth is taking on right now. The Lord put the seasons into rotation for a reason. Change is needed to provide new growth in the spring and the old must fall away, things must be dormant (or at least they appear this way) and in truth they are in the process of what lies ahead for new birth in the spring. Our lives are the same with the seaso
Gathering of Roses Contemporary Art Flowers, Roses Palette Knife Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Saturday morning finds me itching to paint so bad I almost did not blog. Music playing right now is: Arietta con Variazioni 5:29 Kelly Yost Kelly Yost - Piano Reflections: A Gentle Selection of Reflective Light Classics Classical This is some of my favorite music to paint by... classical piano. Survival. That seems to be a key word in today's world with the economy tanking. With all the negativity in the news and the job layoffs, rising grocery prices, housing prices dropping...it has to have an impact on everyone somewhere in their life. An African proverb talks of gazelles and when they awake in the morning they know they must always be ready to outrun the fastest lions or they will be eaten. AND every lion when it wakes up knows it has to outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. So it doesn't matter if ou are the gazelle or the lion, you hit i
In My Mind Contemporary Art Nude Oil Painting Palette Knife by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 48 inches of thick paint; See pictures below. Contact me for additional information or to purchase: Laurie Time for one of my few nudes I do every year. I probably paint four a year and it has been about five months since the last one! You will find very thick paint forming the planes on the body and of course my trademark color palette. I hesitated before blogging this morning praying about content and where my thoughts were to even start my day today. I truly feel we would be so much better off with out the television and the media. One of those love hate relationships we have. Sometimes we have a love hate relationship with in ourselves raging as well. God has so much planned and available for us to do in our lifetime and most of us never reach our potential. For some reason we live conditionally in our lives trying to stay in control and not trusting Him to be in control. Jesus has warned
Expressions Two Contemporary Art Abstract Palette Knife Horse Painting 24 x 24 Acrylic with Tar Gel SOLD ALREADY! Stay tuned for more! We are back safely from Mt. Vernon and a wonderful time. We had a fabulous time and yes a slide show below, but no music this time! I had so many pictures of the country and our trip and I had to limit them! BUT ENJOY! I will not be accompanying my mother and brother and sister-in-law to see my dad today for his real birthday. It feels strange as we have always celebrated together and my entire life this has been special to me, his birthday next to mine. My mom's car will only hold so many bodies and she invited her minister to go up, so I lost my seat. I will be there in spirit today missing him tremendously and again am humbled to know my place in the world. God is good and has his reasons for me to be home today and not there despite my sadness. I was awake last night with the storms moving through and realize how stuffy my head was from b
WILD WILLIE Contemporary Art Wild Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 16 x 20 inches Acrylic Overlays SOLD! THANKS SO MUCH! Today is a day to travel and visit friends and celebrate my birthday. We are off to Mt Vernon! So my blog is only a short note to remind you to give thanks. I am writing this at 6 this morning. Paul Fletcher is sheriff of Franklin County. YEAH!!!! He is who we are going to visit today. I spent twenty minutes online this morning trying to see who won the sheriff race there and since it is a small tiny place in Texas, this was not easy! ALSO thank you for my early morning wake up birthday song my dear friend up north! This is one of the FEW blogs I am doing ahead because we are leaving so early in the morning and I have no knowledge of election results or anything else. Our good friend is running for sheriff in his county and I do not even know how he is doing. What ever is now is part of a larger plan for God. TRUST and know all is well. I look forward to blog

This piece never made the actual show, but I have it here in the studio now and am revarnishing it. THROUGH THE LEAVES Contemporary Art Abstract Horse Palette Knife Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 x 2 inches of Dynamic Fall Colors! Contact me to Purchase: Laurie It almost feels like Summer is still here. The highs are in the mid to high eighties. At least the nights cool off. I am way overdo waiting for winter to be here. I will have another warm birthday this year and that is weird to have it so warm outside in November for so long. I used a different color palette on the painting I posted today. I am stepping out of the box a bit with it. Those of you that have my horses, let me know what you think. I have been sad lately after the trip to Bonham to see Dad. I feel like someone let all the air out of my tire. It is unusual for me to be down as I am usually more on the up side. What does one do when they are in this position? My dad would say, just fake it. My grandmother was told me happiness would elude me if I looked for it...it was something that crept into your l
