My Blog My Website   Yesterday turned out to be pretty relaxing even though I did work part of the day.  You know we started out with a two mile walk, a soak in the hot tub, brunch at 10, and then I finished transferring photos from my camera to the computer. At two I took a nap.  I cannot tell you the last time I took a nap. I was up two hours later doing our household books and my reports for my CPA and then I began a painting for the www.artistsoftexas.org Show in Dallas Nov 2nd thru Dec 31st 2010. Terry had dinner ready at 6:30 (fresh tossed salad with left over chicken, mushrooms, avocados, tomatoes, carrots, onions and raisins: after that it was a good book and back to sleep.  Not sure where the day went, but

That book was about to drive me insane...but it is done. Thank goodness.  Debbie Lincoln proof read it on Monday and we went to print late yesterday. I am ever so thankful to God for protecting us in all our travels this past month. I thought I had forgotten my own street address when yesterday I started writing down our old Dallas address.  Pretty goofy. The reunion was wonderful and the pictures ...altho not plentiful, are good.  We decided it may be our last one to attend and we will just have a gathering of our dearest friends.   We paid $$$ for tickets and neither Terry or I ate anything or drank anything but water.  AND we found out at the last moment that it was cocktail attire which I did not have with me... and we spent money on a dress... live and learn what you can do with out. The hotel is lovely.  It was originally built during the DALLAS tv series and we heard from our bell boy that JR's original round table conference room and office were on the top floor here.   We attended the class reunion last night. I didn't get too many pictures but will put a few up after we return home. I forgot to bring my "thing" that I use to transfer images from the chip to the computer. Everyone has aged gracefully and it was such a joy to see faces you only see every five years!   They mentioned maybe doing it again in two or three years.  We are up for that. We are off to have breakfast with friends, visit Half Price Books and then grab our stuff, check out and head over to my father-in-law

I am pretty out on riding in the car after the last three weeks.  The bills are still rolling in. Yesterday I finished the inside of the book for ArtistsofTexas.org for November.  It took 10 hours for my internet connection to upload it to LULU.  I have to finish the cover and order one book before I order a bunch of them.  I may not blog until late tomorrow. Not sure why BLOG had to do this. I imagine that might be one of God's favorite mantras.   Here on earth we are all little 'tinkers'.  We 'tinker' with this and we 'tinker' with that and we end up deeper in the 'tink' pile with very complicated lives. With the passing of Terry's Dad, so much has surfaced in our lives with memories and photos and books....I am hoping Terry is inspired to let go of so much of his stuff he

I have 1/3 of the pages done... but much more to go and then submit it to LULU for printing.   THEN I HAVE TO PAINT for the show.  I keep singing my mantra, My God is so good, so strong and so mighty there's nothing my God cannot do.   These little watercolors were done earlier this summer. We slept on our own bed last night.  There are mountains of wash and lots and lots of boxes to unpack.  We worked over at Ben's until late afternoon and then drove home through Dallas nightmare 5 pm traffic.   God brought us home safely and Paddy was SOOO excited to see us. Today is time to get back into some semblance of work order. I have not painted or drawn really in about three weeks and I am ready to roll into work for the gallery show coming up in November at the Dutch Art Gallery. I also will be doing some new pieces for Fine Art America. He touched the lives of EVERYONE he met every single day of his life. This morning we are heading to the VA cemetery for an honorary military funeral.  Terry will be presented with the flag from his father's service. This means so very much to him.  I told him last night that God has graced and blessed him with some of the same fine gifts of his father.  I am blessed to have him as my husband ( and sometimes there are times I bless him more than others!)  Stacey recited a beautiful poem for her grandfather and Terry stood and gave a wonderful trib

His father Ben was 84 years young and his death was sudden. We were on the way back from New York as it all began to unfold.  God has a plan and ours is not to question. We celebrate the life of Ben today with family and friends at a memorial service and tomorrow we continue to honor him at a graveside service at the Veterans Cemetery in Dallas, with military honors. Five hours at the funeral home.  Then lunch and more packing and clearing out.  It was seven last night before we arrived home and we were bushed. Found out yesterday that the grandbaby has the chicken pox.  I am waiting for pictures.  Stace thinks it is a light case as she just had the shot for chicken pox a week ago.  Most of her pox are on her body, not her face or arms.  We are hoping she doesn't understand about scratching yet. There are many irritants in life... all of our lives.  How we react to those irritants matters.  Things can really itch and we can scratch away at the bothersome itch.  What happens next? Infection.  Our nails are always carrying dirt on them so when we scratch the dirt and bad stuff enters the blood stream.  The

Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 We are in Dallas with Family.  We lost a loved one yesterday morning from our immediately family.  There is so much going on right now, tears, laughter and lots of memories.   Hospice was involved. Faith Hospice here in Dallas. They were wonderful to work with.  You could not find more tender care than we experienced with the wonderful nurses that were there for our family. I may be absent from blogging for a few days, but I will try and post here and there as I can.   There is a new angel whistling in heaven right now and holding us close as we walk this path. We had decided to stop in Jackson TN but every single hotel was booked.  So it meant continuing on at 9 pm for Memphis about 80 miles away. We arrived about 10:20 and fell into bed by eleven.  I felt so bad for Terry  as the truckers are thicker than bees on honey on interstate 40 and they are doing an avg of 80-85 mph with NO state highway patrol around.  It was extremely stressful.   I was able to have Justin locate a Marriott for us to stay in near the Memphis airport... and from this very comfortable bed, I am blogging this morning.  We have about six and a half hours to go and we have to stop in Mt Pleasant to pick Paddy up. ... and maybe some groceries somewhere to take home. We are both excited to pick up our dog. We have not seen him in 9 days.  LONG time.   There is much to do co

We could not even stay at the Marriott in Blacksburg because there was a game last night and all hotels were booked with reserve lists.  We ended up at the Marriott at the airport in Roanoke, but had to pay full price for the LAST ROOM available. We did explore some gorgeous back country roads that Jamie would have loved to have painted. I took some images along the way.  The views were incredible.  This morning we will go wait for the part to arrive at the

We are heading down to the pool for an early morning swim and then will eat breakfast and maybe explore downtown. Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     I have been up for a few hours...but we did sleep in till about 9 this morning.  We actually hiked a little last night.  Jamie called Gretchen Kelly to come join us.   We had lunch outside on Jamie huge second story veranda and then we took two cars and headed up the mountain behind her house. On the winding road up we passed a huge rescue going on.  There are falls on this road and folks do not follow the suggestion of NOT climbing them. Then they climb them and fall. Only one person has survived the fall...the rest died.  We passed no less than 20 rescue vehicles and ambulances.  We drove maybe another miles and again six cars stopped on the road with a beautiful doe in the road, struck in the back area by a car. She was struggling on her front legs to pull up but both back legs were broken.  We

We arrived in Palenville NY around 9 pm last night.  We are up, showered, dressed and heading down stairs for a full breakfast.   We ended up yesterday morning finding out the Cam Sensor was not working on the car. Had we continued driving, the engine would have blown up.  God was truly good as we had stopped at Wendy's and baby car never started again.   They ordered the sensor to be overnighted and it should arrive there today. BUT meanwhile we had to continue north on our journey.   The Enterprise Rental in Christiansburg had three cars.  A tiny yellow something, a paneled cargo van and a Dodge Calibar.  We went with teh Calibar.  About 25% smaller than the Passat and no trunk or luggage room.  Terry figured out had to cram everythin

The tow truck driver was very nice and dropped us off at the Marriett where we await word of the car.  Not sure of alternate plans.  God's hand is in this because there was a huge wreck on the 81, the highway we were on.  The weather today was HORRIBLE, treacherous, and dangerous. Rain, rain and more rain made it difficult to see and truckers were literally doing over 85 mph in the

It truly evolved from the original first layers and even with the changes as they occurred I trusted Him for the outcome.  I had my occasional doubts, but the final piece is truly breathtaking in person.  It made me brave and yesterday I took another one that I have posted before and did the same process with it and you will see it tomorrow. This one ships out on Tuesday going east...southeast. Terry is taking it off the stretchers for shipping. Preparation is always important in life. Sometimes we get so caught up in the preparation, we forget to let things happen naturally.  Life has a flow to it. When we stop it up and build damns and levees and irrigate things... we divert the natural flow of life.  Paintings are the same way.
