I worked from the horizon line up to the top and then from the horizon line down through the water. WAIT. Are we ever fully prepared in life?  Many of us really try hard to the point we try and control everything around us to get there. Obviously the Christmas season in the USA is lights, glitter and action from the middle of October until the 26th of December.  The media gets it into our blood and we respond to the noise and color battered at us on TV, Radio and in the stores and malls. The results are huge. We spend more money, go further in debt, eat richer foods, drink more and are miserable after Christmas. Why do we do this? Through  Bible reading, opening our hearts to God through prayer and listening and waitin

Before the Storm, Sailboat Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Before the Storm 24 x 30 inches  Oil on Canvas SOLD    © Laurie Pace  Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me: Laurie   Before The Storm? After The Storm? My mom always called it the calm before the storm .   This was to describe that quiet time right before everything breaks loose. I distinctly remember that in connection to the birth of my younger brother. I was 11 when he was born.  It was a Sunday evening in April and the sunset was an eerie color . It was not the normal melting of sky in gorgeous colors of pinks and oranges, but rather a mustardy gold color.  I was playing down the street and we were hanging by the T of one of those old clothes lines... and looked to the west and I felt this sudden chill and said ,"I gotta go home now." and I scampered to my bike and rode home as fast as my legs could pump that old bicycle.   My grandmother was there visiting from St Louis waiting to help my mom out with the new baby that was due to arrive.  My mom was very

Late Sunset Sailboat Painting Lake Water Art by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Late Sunset ' 6 x 6 Oil on Panel Contact the Dutch Art Gallery  PAM   Contact me for commission work. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  This piece is framed at the Dutch art Gallery and is a gorgeous idea for Father's Day. The Thought:   Not much yet this morning. Terry and I enjoyed feeding the fish together last night, throwing food out into the lake.  We watched turtles and fish both scamper after the treats. Life is full right now and seems busier than ever....and it is suppose to be retirement.  We did not get to sail today but hopefully tomorrow.  I was doing computer stuff most of the day creating collector books for my commission work. I leave you with PEACE in your heart...gather your joys today and give thanks to God.  He is good all the time, and He has you wrapped in His care.  To your own self be true. A man's character is based on their actions and their heart.  Honesty and truth is a strong reflecti

Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting :  Crisp colors that reflect the new chill in the air sailing in the early fall evening.  The winds are strong out of the north and it makes sailing glorious!  So the colors I chose reflect the feelings of being out on the lake with the cooler winds. The Thought :  First day up ...I am ready to go back to bed and I just got here. I do not think that is the best sign...but lower temperature all day yesterday helped. My brain is not in full gear this morning but I prayed heartfully and God knows where I am.  Heartfully.  Word spell check says that does not exist, but for me it does. To have ones heart fully open to God. The intake and exchange of His love and grace for this day.  To have ones heart fully filled with His presence to the point that you truly pass it on to others through out

'Racing the Storm' Sailboat Painting by Laurie Pace

'Racing the Storm' 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase or Earthworks Art Gallery: Laurie Earthworks Art Gallery © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: This painting captured even more than I set out to capture. I wanted the boats and the wind... had not anticipated a change in the weather. The original sketch was in charcoal on canvas. Then I came in with acrylic paint to establish values. Morgan told me too much blue, too many mid tones... and then I took off with the loaded palette knife with lots of color playing into the blues...with pinks, violets, greens, yellows etc. The result was more amazing than I set out to paint. Reckless adventure seeing the clear skies on the horizon and racing toward it tacking back and forth in the wind to make forward progress. NEW NOTE : I entered this contest to win art supplies to donate to Covenant Kids, a part of the Foster program here in the North Texas Area. Please take a m

Romans 4:20-21 Restoring Restoration is a major area of concern with older prized pieces of art. So many pieces are NOT in galleries or museums where they are cared for to help preserve their beauty. Terry bought me a porch swing yesterday with a canopy. I have a wood swing out front where we sit and watch all the neighborhood kids play...but the porch swing is on the porch area between the studio and the kitchen.
