Wishing you were here... Horse Painting by Laurie Pace

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2020 Wishing You Were Here  8 x 8 Oil on Panel  Daily Paintings   by Laurie Pace   Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   I painted yesterday!  I did not start the dogs. I did a small 8 x 8 horse painting... the one above, as a Daily Painting.  It is available at $199.  The dog painting will begin today.  Slow progress on stamina.  I stood cleaning up mess before I could even do this painting.  By one in the afternoon I was pretty well ready to eat some lunch and break for the day. It was Saturday after all. I truly won't do much on the dog painting today.  I may finish the etching or begin with a light under coat to knock out the white canvas.  Pretty sure I will use oil.   What do you like to do on Sundays?   We still cannot attend church, or really safely go out to eat. I do not grocery shop on Sundays unless it is an emergency.  To be perfectly honest, I am writing this blog on Saturday

Horse Painting Equine Art by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace

You Lift Me Up   30 x 40 inches Acrylic on Canvas This  is it so far....Again the collector loved Dancing at Midnight and altho I do not believe you can catch the same essence a second time... I don't think I did, but I captured more... more strength in this horse painting.  There is no doubt to the lifting of the horse's head to the dark heavens that he is seeking the light of God.  ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011    Contact me for your own commissioned painting: Laurie      Spoiling the Child Give the child what he wants.  Isn't that how our society is geared today? The wants and not the needs. Why not spoil the child with what he needs? In our marriage during tight times we began the ritual of sitting down and talking over any expenditures over $25.  We used that truthful measurement of NEED or WANT. When teaching this to our children it was broken down simply: A need is something that you have to have . A want is someth

I cannot believe I worked until eleven last night and I am up at six a.m. Not sure where the days go. Yesterday we went to Mt. Pleasant with the truck. I followed in my Passat.  Mr Truck is back from the "Put the bumper back on - fix the dent in the fender - replace the broken windshield -replace the shattered side-mirror place" and now at the interior repair shop.  This brought back memories of my grandmother and mother helping my brother restore the seats and interior on his bug eye Sprite.  The beauty of all of their sewing finished out a gorgeous car.  This shop brought back all those memories.  Alan Braddock Interiors .   It is an old-fashioned shop in the middle of Mt Pleasant that was started back i

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Painted Ponies    On Golden Pond Blog Think to a time in life that you were so hurt and devastated and emotionally drained . What did you do?  If you were five years old and something happened in your life at that time that made you afraid, hurt and crying, what did you do back then? Most of us would have run to our mother or our father.   They were our protectors in life. They could fix anything in our little world and make it better.   I struggle in today's world with hurt, devastation and emotionally battles in several areas.  I buck up and try to be strong.  I make my lists.  I pray.  I work harder and harder.  It does not help.  I am totally in the wrong direction or I would not still be dealing with the issues. The Father wants us in His arms.   He is our protector. Only He can fix those

The Thought:  I have to share with you today a new Christian Author.   I just finished a book by her, not knowing anything about her, her background or how much she had written.  My favorite series is Liz Curtis Higgs Scottish Series. It is one of the best series I have read to date.  Terry ordered the book "The Frontiersman's Daughter" for me for Christmas. It was written by Laura Frantz .  It was one of those books that was written so well, you didn't know what would happen. It was not a milk toast book with only predictability, but a book that was written as people lived and breathed and reacted to life, not always making those right choices.   It was a book that was so good I savored it and enjoyed ever

'SKETCH 1  Jana' Preparing..... Contact me to commission a painting. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting :  Preparation for a commission is always important to communicate between the collector and my brain.  This is the first step.  The Thought:  Prep work is important when you are starting a commission piece.  It is essential to make sure you and the client are on the same page when you are beginning a painting for their home.  I spent some time on the phone with this collector and she sent numerous emails with pictures of the room from all angles. I was honored she wanted my artwork among the many pieces she had hanging already. One of the most important pieces to the puzzle is the palette of colors that will be used. When you are planning a piece it makes a difference as to cool palette or warm palette  or even an analogous palette. The next few days I will be posting the steps of this painting as it progressed. It is actua

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: A change in color palette. This was drawn off on canvas before the new year started but I have not been in the studio to work until today. I just finished it up last night and decided to post it right away.  I love the play of colors of the rust and blues. The Thought:   Sometimes I have trouble with staying focused with the phone ringing all the time.  Yesterday was ONE of those days. Terry was back at work, Crystal was at school and EVERYONE decided to call.  Unfortunately it slowed me down quite a bit as I had so much to do yesterday and I only finished the one painting.  I did not even get sketching on the next ones.  My sketch book is full of future paintings... and maybe later today I can paint again. I have ideas of going off into a weird direc

The Thought :  Here is our slide show from Christmas Eve.  Dallas received a blow from the north with lots of wind and snow.  All Church Services were canceled and we finished up our evening early so every one could get home while it was light. All bridges and overpasses were closed down with the storm. We made the decision not to even attempt to try and attend my brothers annual Christmas Party. This is something we look forward to every year.  We will enjoy the German Stollen they dropped off for us to eat Christmas Morning.  A white Christmas is rare indeed... and Dallas totally closes down when i

The Painting :  The beauty of Holbein Duo Oils is really really obvious in this painting. I cannot praise the quality of these paints more.  From using linseed oil and layer in thin layers to mixing color and applying them solidly like creamy butter without impasto...they hold up beautifully creating a dimensional carving to the canvas.  This is one of my favorites of the year squeaking out in late November.  It is one of the Spirit with out question. The Thought : Yesterday was the first Sunday in Advent and I was not prepared .  I have been writing you for the past few weeks about preparation and then the writer was not prepared.  I cannot pass the blame anywhere but h

'Black Knight' Modern Equine Horse Art Daily Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Black Knight' SOLD FROM THE BLOG... Thank you! 30 x 30  Oil on Canvas Contact me for commission work. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting:    REDS and BLACKS.  The youngest daughter asked why I had not painted a black horse. I really didn't think I was in the mood for this as I was leaning to a dapple gray myself... but the strong red background and I knew only a black steed could hold up against it. The Thought :  Abundance in food. Have you ever noticed in restaurants they always give you twice what you need to eat? It is not quite enough for two people to eat, but darn close. We went out to eat at Rockport off Preston and Forest . It used to be Main Stream, our favorite fish place to eat.  BUT now it is a Rockport Fish place.  Terry had Salmon and I had Maui Maui... we feasted on potatoes and fresh veggies too. The chef brought us out some sweet potato  things too and they were really really good.   Since it was my bi

'Pony Play' 24 x 36  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting :  Oh what fun...lots of orange ....a color I rarely use, but it was fun pulling in the oranges and yellows to blend against the young ponies at play.  The manes are shorter as they are young, or I would have had them flying off the canvas.  If you want the painting and want flying manes, let me know and I can add them. The Thought : Treasures of the Heart.  What are the treasures of your heart?   I am compiling my book for next year... my heART book made up of 75-80 paintings and favorite blog messages and a few new thoughts on the way. I noted as I culled through my paintings I did not do many landscapes this year. We did not travel this summer and that usually has something to do with those.   I am painting a Montana scene right now so maybe that will be included. Treasures of the heart is a broad subject.   On

'Of the Earth' 30 x 30  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting:   Inspired by Spirit of Fire and the palette of earthy oranges and rusts balance by deep blues and golds... this dynamic painting evolved.  A blue eyed white horse... of the earth. The Thought:   Terry is working on his truck.    I have to pray for divine order.   He is after all, an airline mechanic with a practicing license.  He is truly good with cars and loves taking them apart.  He has rules about everything being laid out and marked.  He was good when we moved about marking and remarking boxes and wires with tags of what they go to.   He has his own 'divine order' going on. I had suggested we take Mr Truck to the fix it mechanic on Monday . We cannot be with out two cars during the week with the daughter in school.  I have to take her every morning around 8:30 and then Dad picks her up at 4:15.  I wa
