Minutes that seemed like hours. Times you broke out of line only to be corrected and times your mind wandered and you forgot to follow the line... you were staring off into space. OR there was a really neat rock almost five feet away and you desperately want to make a dash for that rock... while no one is looking. No one like the adult in charge. Remember those lines? Hands to your side. Do not touch anyone. Walk in a straight line. How about  these lines? These children have no food.. they

What do we think we will find at the top?  What are we climbing for? Is this what it will be like at the top of the stairs?  Looking down through windows of time seeing where we have been, catching glimpses of times past? Perhaps we are so busy climbing we miss out on the things around us. We miss valuable moments to make new memories and share thoughts and love with our family and friends.   Currently we are on the road between home and Dallas.  Larry, our son-in-law, lost his mother Friday.  It was unexpected and she died blessedly in her sleep.  I have known her for several years now.  We have shared the joining of our middle children in marriage. We hav

Not sure how it all connects but in my mind I was thinking about life... their is no way out (outlet) of 'cheating death'. We are all born and we all die.  The second sign 'Residents and Guests Vehicles Only' brought into focus that if you want to go past this sign... past death into God's kingdom, you must indeed be a resident or guest living with Him in this life. (Terry says we are all guests on this earth, just passing through.)   The sign loomed before us on the walk forbidding in a sense and alarming you with it's warning....yet just beyond it b

I just didn't shoot tight pictures and the painting is too wet to try and shoot until maybe tomorrow. I can't move it yet.  So the day yesterday started out better than I had hoped.  I believe yours can go well today too if you begin to realize God is the source, the only source. If you truly believe in this, there are no limits to what you can overcome in your life or what you can accomplish.  Yes you can get off the treadmill or out of the squirrel cage you are running in circles in. This weekend you can be FAITH IN ACTION. I have to share with you something incredible that happened in the past few days.  It is Faith in Action and trusting the Father to provide.  We received some paperwork concerning the es

I am not a bad eater, but too much time on the computer and at my easel leave me NOT in good shape.  When we were there this weekend I made the HUGE mistake of doing one of her exercise tapes....definitely not made for those my age.  I will stick with my yoga, walking and maybe wii fit.  Pray for us both as we undertake the changes we are calling for in our lives. I had to share this when I came across the verse below. So yesterday morning I did 104 minutes on the Wii Fit.  I also ate carefully all day and added 2 Tbsp of  ground flax seed to my salad at lunch.  This is a daily commitment and I do it for myself and my family. 'Hill Toppers' Horse Equine Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'No. 312 Hill Toppers' 30 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas Contact The Rare Gallery in Jackson Hole to Purchase. Hollee Armstrong © Laurie Justus Pace    Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting :  I am currently painting new pieces for the Jackson Hole Gallery.  Hollee Armstrong, the owner, wanted another large pull of horses so I did this striking piece that is busy curing and waiting to be shipped.   I have a music piece I am working on as well and one other composition of my new water pulls.     The Thought :  Well yesterday I spoke of spiritual freedom.  I began my day with great expectations of nothing but tuned to staying tuned with Him.  I actually made it until late morning when of course things begin to overwhelm and I was sucked right back into the vat of mess between scheduling appts and securing addresses and counting out postcards.     Even last night with ALL good intentions of heading to the shower by nine didn't occur.  I returned a phone call to a fellow artis

'The Herd of Carousel Horses' Painted Pony Pulls Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace

'The Herd of Carousel Horses' 24 x 36 inches Acrylic on Canvas SOLD before I posted it to the blog. Contact me for commission work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: Painted pulls in Acrylic are not quite the same as the oils. The oils have the viscosity of soft blends of hues as they pull. The acrylics blend but in a more controlled way. Interesting to study the difference between the mediums. The Thought : I received my final adjusted contract today with Brightco Companies . They are using some of my horses on their glass wear cases etc. I am sooo pleased with their product and use the samples myself. They are just launching their lines right now, but if you want any of these, you need to contact them. I may have to take my own pictures for you later this week... They do not do them justice on the website! BUT back to the contract... as I opened it up the top line said: "AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN GOD AND BRIGHTCO PR

'Five up Front' 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD ! Thanks! Laurie Earthworks © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: This is one of the piece heading north for the two New York shows. I will be varnishing it this weekend. It is one of my internationally collected Pony Paint Pulls with intense colors of quinacridone orange through out the piece. Bits of Caramel (Brown Pink) blend nicely for the horses. The Thought : My yesterday was filled with finishing up two more pieces for New York. I begin varnishing today. I am totally exhausted. My mom called yesterday thrilled over Morgan's engagement. She has known Kelly since she was a little girl. We were then both bemoaning the fact that life is so full of unexpected happenings and bumps and how some bumps are so large they either knock you off your feet or take you a totally different direction than you were anticipating. Some of those happenings are good and s

'Chocolate Horses' Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate....that is what you see and feel when you look at this painting. If there is one layer there are 14 or more layers of paint and pulls. This was done over a three day period. The first layer again was acrylic and then the next ones were pulls of thick buttery oils....colors overlaid and blending. The Thought : A common subject with most Americans would be the IRS and our nation. The IRS had its first root back during the Civil War. Did you know that? President Lincoln with the help of Congress in the year 1862, created a "position" for a commissioner of Internal Revenue. Then they enacted an income tax to pay for all the war expenses. Ten years later the bill was repealed and in 1894 Congress revived the income tax bill. In 1895, a year later, the Supre

BURST OF COLOR Contemporary Horse Equine ART Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD...THANK YOU! 18 x 27 inches of astonishing color! Contact me if you are interested in this painting: Laurie "But truly God has listened; He has given heed to the words of my prayer." Psalm 66:19 I wondered last night as we drove home from the grocery store, after stopping at FEDEX and Mary's Mail, if there was a full moon last night. The people were driving and acting crazy out on the roads. In the two hours we were out, several ambulances and firetrucks took to the roads to accidents. Every one is in a hurry...every one was doing really rude things. I looked up as we left the grocery store and asked TP, "Is it a full moon" . We were blessed when we got home with a visit from little John David across the street. He lightened our evening with his curiosity and inquisitive nature....so from all of this comes my thought for you this morning. Last night as the clouds were rus
MORNING HERD OF NINE Contemporary Art, Palette Knife Horse Daily Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie "For man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires." James 1:20 Icy weather is expected here today. Makes everything more difficult because folks in Dallas seem to lack the ability to understand ice on the roads. Most think it is time to go faster and slide into where you are heading. It is raining and temps are falling rapidly. The airports are in delay and schools are debating schedules for closure. Meanwhile Terry and I went to Whole Foods late last night and did our grocery shopping. We are stocked for the week and ready for the cold. Stacey will stay at home with Larry today because of the roads and we all will pray no labor in the ice storm. Today is a suggestion that you either talk to yourself in the mirror or write something down on paper. Sometimes we get "stu
SNOW HERD Contemporary Art Palette Knife Horizon Painted Pony Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Thick Oil on Canvas $750 SOLD off the BLOG. Thank you! Contact me with an offer: Laurie The Sounds of Silence “The Lord was not in the wind . . . the earthquake . . . the fire; and after the fire the sound of sheer silence.” 1 Kings 19:11–12 ( NRSV ) When I posted this painting I immediately thought of the quiet silence of snow falling totally out of focus of the horses, which of course are a contrasting noise; even when standing they snort and stamp their feet, eager to push on in the silence of falling snow. Where is the strength, in the snow or in the horses? Wondering and roaming through my bible, I remembered in my distant brain the power struggle between Elijah and Ahab's wife Jezebel. She was a foreigner and she worshiped Baal and not God. When she moved in with Ahab (King of Israel), she brought 400 of her favorite prophets and priests. Can you imagine

Normally I would NOT work on Sunday, but we had 18 paintings to get out for Christmas and we had to get them to FEDEX today. I have three of those still hanging on the wall drying until the last second before Terry tucks the into their boxes for their trips "home". It was a choice I made to give up my Sunday to
NOVEMBER SKIES Contemporary Art Abstract Palette Knife Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase... this is one of my highly collected painted pony pulls. Laurie This painting pulls in every fall color you can imagine in the landscape right now. That is why I entitled it November Skies. Seems like the fall season magnifies the Lord's glory in living color that shouts to his glory, just to be quieted for the winter season of quiet cool colors. If you have time today, sit outside and soak in the beauty of fall. Even if it is cold, pull on a jacket and meditate while observing the changes the earth is taking on right now. The Lord put the seasons into rotation for a reason. Change is needed to provide new growth in the spring and the old must fall away, things must be dormant (or at least they appear this way) and in truth they are in the process of what lies ahead for new birth in the spring. Our lives are the same with the seaso
HORIZON SPIRIT Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches To inquire: Laurie This painting was done following an early morning walk when the sun was just coming up. It is that moment that the gorgeous pinks are in the sky....Simplicity and color, thick paint and lots of JOY!!! Is there conflict in your life? Is it inner conflict or conflict with others? If you reduce it down even conflict with others starts with inner conflict. Each of us is battling something in side right now. It could be an unwanted habit, mine is eating too much sugar; an undesirable behavior or an old pattern in our lives? I know in my life there have been times that I felt detached and alone from my childhood family. The inner conflict of wanting to be apart of what you once knew as a family and the reality of them not wanting you to be apart is very painful. Blame in my mind flew both directions. It was a journey I had to take because it really boiled down to self acceptance for me. God mad
BLUE REFLECTIONS Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 48 inches $2700 The Red Tree Gallery, Atascadero, California Contact Wendy Rogers to purchase. Did not want to get out of bed this morning at five. My eyes are still not open. I will be at the easel as soon as I finish this and will hope to get at least two hours of painting in before showering and leaving this morning for errands with my mother. Yesterday more boxes arrived with more surprises. The first was there when I got back from yesterday's doc visits. Beautiful glasses were in this box. They were washed immediately and tucked safely on the appointed shelf in the kitchen. The dishes were already washed and placed in to their nest too. Yesterday at lunch Terry and I ate off of them in the Garden room! Beautiful for the appetite too! Then late yesterday afternoon a second box arrived with new stainless. WOW is it elegant! I think it is called BOLO. Understated and solid...best describing words I can find a
CELEBRATE SPRING Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches Contact me to purchase. Laurie Tuesday is here and we slept in past seven this morning. We were up at three trying to find a noise in the wall. No we didn't find it! YEah and they will do more today. Hopefully the halls and the bedroom...then the last will be over the piano. ALSO received several surprises yesterday. Felt like Christmas. We picked up a beautiful Danish chair for the house sent by a dear friend and boxes arrived from her with new dishes that look like they were custom made for the house. I cannot wait to use them today and every day. They are soft greens, blues and warm browns. Patio Garden by Pfaltzgraff. Today is short on posting.
