When the sun rises... the first light of day has not broken through the deep mist of night and the quiet tones across the landscape.  When it does make that push upward and light fills in between the leaves, grass, gardens etc... the earth is alive with color!  Same with these horses I entitled Color Rising. Layers of color and overlays create this entire painting, keeping part of the realism and losing to abstract shapes throughout the horses. The Painted Pony Pulls! Should I paint more of them? Triggered by color and thick buttery oils, they have been the life dream of painting since 2002. Picking up a palette knife and starting to lay color up is always exciting. Sometimes I will use a tube of paint and dot marks of paint all over the surface before I begin to pull them toge

There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always .”  Mahatma Gandhi Painting This is the second of the new series of the pulled Painted Ponies. I have not painted these in many years. I did do a large one for a show in Denver, and it sold that same month.  There is a magic in doing these that amazes me and propels me to do a few more. I have thought of painting flowers and will do some, and I thought of finishing a commission of two children, and MUST do that, and I want to do more of my women. They hold the same spell to me as do the horses.  Maybe I should integrate the women painting approa

Just jumping straight into this painting and the process.  I began with a different surface as I sketched out three horses and began pulling the paint.  It looked painful, so I put it out of its misery and began pulling colors together and flipping the canvas around.   Then I saw the two horses as clear as can be. Forward with more pulled paint and you have Sunrise Friend.  The beauty of these painted ponies is the style. I have been collected for these since about 2005, so over 15 years. I paint other styles of horses and lately really pretty ones on birch. But these paintings are freedom and love knitted together on the surface with intuitive painting and discovery.  Remember on my site right now this year is 199 paintings for $199 each.  I think I am up to abou

I have not done many painted ponies in a few years.  I never truly know where it goes or how many horses will happen from it and I found five on the surface right away. Gives the feeling of wild horses and with it winter, yes, snow had to be involved.  Did not throw in green though, so it is bright in color for the holidays but not necessary full Christmas Color. This painting had a quieter feel to it, so I kept it to complimentary color

The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equinear

The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again.” ― Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay Spring is the time for rebirth and renewal, but there are a few of us who cling to the joy of fall into winter.  It is the winding down of being outside and staying more indoors together, closer, enjoying intimate moments. I always look forward to fall and still waiting right now for those cooler nights and mornings. Texas is always late in getting there... clinging

I think she was about six ... and I painted this painting. Part of the joy of this little one watching me filled my soul as I painted... the sun was just coming
