Summer Winds by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2020 Summer Winds  by Laurie Pace - Sold.  Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   Prints Available They say Summer Winds are normally hot. I know they are in Texas, but this morning we spent the morning with our almost five year old grandson on the square at Southlake Texas.  We danced by the fountains, tossed in coins, and ate huge cinnamon buns at a near by bakery.  As we sat beneath the trees in the shade around 10:30, it was about 75 degrees outside and the wind was from the north and cool.  This is unheard of in Texas in August.   Definitely a summer I will remember and attach it to a previously completed and sold painting, Summer Winds! Summer Winds is a contemporary palette knife oil painting of four horses with beautiful summer colors.  “ So may all your enemies perish, LORD! But may all who love you be like the...

Racing the Fence, Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie pace

Racing the Fence   © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace  Graphics One Design 2014 Racing the Fence  Size: 30 x 40   Oil on Canvas. SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This painting was sold from Mirada Fine Art in 2012.  It was a unique palette for me to paint in the dark golds and caramel browns against grey and white accented with blue and quinacridone orange.  The feeling was hurried...rushed, urgent.  Sometimes you can pass by a horse farm and see the horses running the fence line, and that is what inspired this painting.  There are many horse ranches in Argyle and Aubrey Texas. We lived in Argyle several years when I taught art at Argyle Middle School.  Horses were part of the local economy and the hillsides were full of lush pastures, trees and beautiful horses...well they are still like that today.  As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear h...

Appaloosa in the Wind, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Appaloosa in the Wind  Size: 24 x 30  Oil on Canvas. Contemporary Horse Paintings Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This is one of my top ten favorites as well. It is at Davis and Co Gallery in Houston.  http://www.dandcgallery.com  Color and design are the strong points in this painting. It is not for the meek of heart.  I feel more men are drawn to it because of the strength, but many women like the mystery of the work. There is a gentle presence with the stance of the horses calm in the movement surrounding them. Often when our lives are in turmoil we begin to wonder what to do to calm things down.  We loose energy wrestling with what we could have done differently and slowly we begin playing that blame game.  In actuality there is a gentle presence with us all the time... God is there through it all. If...

Horse 46 Fan Dance, Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 46 Fan Dance  Size: 12 x 12  Oil on Canvas Panel. Contemporary Horse Painting Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Didn't recognize the flowers? Rotate the canvas clockwise one turn of the square and it begins to fall in place. If you have time click through to the available paintings to see the close ups on this one as they are incredible. With it being a painting built on a painting the layers lend to a depth not often seen in painted artwork.  The little centered part of the green on the horses face is central to the contrast of the red throughout the painting. The blue does the same with the orange. I truly loved changing and evolving with this painting. Trusting in God all the time as you evolved is not easy. We see our friends or family in stressful situations and we wish we could change them. We often find ourselves wanting to...

The Color... movement on canvas.. Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014         The Color   sold 36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I did not rotate the canvas on this painting. I did decide to compose the colors to use in one way and not worry about the balance of rotating.  The center seems to be like a flower and the bottom quarter like stems... the top quarter simple and unobtrusive.  At this point I shot images of it and took it into photoshop.  I tweaked a few things on the original canvas for balance but I spent some time looking for horses as that is the 'expected' from me.  With a possible show in El Paso coming up and the need for new pieces at galleries, I have to go the horse direction even though my head saw several other things blooming in this paint.  The horses were easy to spot... can you see them? If not, stop by tomorrow and dis...

The Painted Ponies Gathering 2 The Passing of Spring by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 The Painted Ponies Gathering 2 The Passing of Spring 32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  If you look at the last posting and this one you can see how beautifully the colors pulled out to create the atmosphere foundation in this new Painted Ponies Painting.  Why the Passing of Spring?  We just had Easter and a week of on and off storms and it feels like the storms are passing leaving blue skies and sunshine.  Spring in Texas means STORMY weather.  Here is a close up of this painting and it is available. You can see more close ups on the site hyperlinked above.  #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart This reminds me of a painting I did about three years ago  with the arrival of fall. In this painting soft strong colors creating the 'atmosphere' recalling ...

Horse 29 Two Together by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Two Together 9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Second in the "out of the box" series still refining a different approach to the canvas and building up my determination and courage to do a very very large one soon.  Soft colors and a different palette create the textured back drop for these two pony pals standing in a field blooming with flowers. Such gorgeous weather.. and I spent most of yesterday in bed with a kidney stone... but the best part of the day was sitting outside around six enjoying the warmer weather, and watching Terry putter around the back yard. He goes off restriction today, so I know he has many plans ahead for the day. Paddy got a haircut yesterday too.. I need to take his picture for you! Will try to do that... and take pictures of the flower Terry is planning on finishing up in the backyard. He has n...

Whirlwind, #horsepainting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace #lauriepaceart

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Whirlwind 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas.  Available by clicking here. Reposting this one. It is dry and ready to travel to a new home. It was painted in early January and had been sketched on the canvas for about six months before I finally painted it.  Laced with color, contrast, thick paint and lots of energy, this unusual horse painting is ready to take off with your heart. Yesterday was Stacey's birthday... my daughter turning 37. We had a girl day at the salon with highlights, cuts and the works. Even Lady L got to participate. Then it was a wonderful early birthday dinner with family for her special gathering and then back to our house for cake prepared by Kelly and Morgan.  It was a 'yummy' day and we are so blessed. Needless to say, I did not step into the studio or down at my computer the entire day.  I have a new piece on the e...

Horse Painting in the studio with Texas Artist Laurie Pace, #lauriepaceart #horsepainting

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 2/14/14 9 x 12 inches Acrylic  on Canvas.  Available $100 I was working after our Valentine Dinner last night.  Too full to think about bed, so I wandered off into the studio to pick up where I left off yesterday morning.  Life got in the way of painting yesterday. Terry had sprayed all the varnish, I was trying to catch up on email and work on the AOT website and finish up my new site and time flew by. By noon yesterday I was starving for some reason and made my favorite veggie shepherd's pie.  It is so simple to make and so satisfying to eat.  First I scrub three large organic russets, then cut them into bite size pieces and boil them for mashed potatoes. While the potatoes are cooking, I sautee some onion in just water, then add frozen organic veggies of choice. Our  choice was a veggie mix with pea, carr...
