The boy was truly upset and distressed so he ran inside the house and found a pair of scissors. He hurried back to clip the remaining bit of the cocoon to free the butterfly. His smile turned immediately to tears as he saw the butterfly. It had a swollen body and small shriveled wings. He crossed his fingers and hoped it would change and begin flight off into the air.
