Such a simple joy is listening to Lady L at age 2 playing my piano. Her Bampa on the floor next to her with his WRR T-shirt on. We love classical music at our house. If you look carefully you will see my harp, several guitars and the piano. L

Only to realize I was fooled. Taking hits from wrong decisions Emotional devastation taking me apart Backtracking from stepping off the path Always finishing completely with heart. Or was I? Beginnings of 'Home on the Ranch' 4 ft by 5 ft  Oil on Canvas This is a commissioned painting for an Appaloosa Ranch owner here in Texas You can follow the progress... Contact me. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: I posted the sketches of this piece last week and I began it this week. The Thought:    My thought this morning is finding Joy in every moment. Sounds simple but it definitely a daunting task.  Or is it? All the best plans never work as we think they should and not much joy will abound there. When we lose hope we normally lose joy.  The joy can only be found in the release of the "plans and wounds"  that tie us to these worries.  That is not meant to say you are not responsible in this world as we all are responsible to live today as it counts to our commitments and our direction.  The suggestion is to be open to the joy that is already there. He offers up joy in our daily experience an

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting :  Such expression when I work in values on the color wheel that adjoin each other. There is power in these warm colors...can you feel it working in the painting? The Thought:   I have a thought to give you to ponder... think right now of prosperity.  What really is prosperity?  There are times when you find yourself in a comfy couch or chair or even curled up in bed and you think for a second, "It can't get any better." And of course there are times you are very uncomfortable and you squirm around trying to be still or to relax and you just can't.   You are seeking the comfortable feeling and you can't get there. Sometimes I wonder if you can compare prosperity to this.  It is strictly point of view and not necessarily amount of money.  What
EXPLOSIVE FURY Contemporary Modern Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD I am surrounding by a huge pile of TO DO's on my desk. Not sure if painting or cleaning comes first! I decided to do the blog first. THEN jump in and paint. Then I will clean off my desk. I am trying to get organized. This is an explosive painting that evolved this weekend. I finished it up last night. Colors pulling in the down direction created a mighty force on the surface. I was working also on a small commission piece of a little one (Dog) named Sugar. I almost have Sugar finished too. My next commission piece is of a young girl playing in an orchestra at the Meyerson. Her Mom sent me pics from home but the ones from actually being on stage are unbelievable. Terry's cousin Sandra came to visit yesterday. We worked in the plants out in the garden room for most of the day. I prepared pasta and meat sauce with fresh salad and hot bread with cheese, tomatoes and garlic on it! Yummm. Leftov
FURY 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day Egads...I am sunburned. I took the morning off and went swimming, rather floating, with my neighbor. I haven't take a break from the studio for something enjoyable like that in a LONG TIME. Well I am paying for it. I have the skin type that is winter white, but once I am in the sun I am a brown berry. Well, it has been years since I have been out floating around and I forgot to think about sunscreen because I figured I would only be there a short time. Well three hours later I raced home to handle stuff with the wreck and lawyers etc and didn't take the time to shower until after dinner. I am burned. White strap marks and all! It may be a rough weekend. This painting is another one of my smaller pieces, studies for larger paintings. I am taking watercolors on the trip. I have to really rethink my stuff because we may be flying. Still trying to figure that one out. Less stuff can come with me! I am he
TIGHT TURN Oil on Canvas 18 x 27 inches A Painting A Day Click here to bid! It is MONDAY shipping day. Terry is out in the garage, totally sprayed down with Organic Bug Spray with LOTS of citronella in it! HUMMM, smells good! We were up early this morning, I think it was five, and we enjoy the quiet together with good drink, he had hot coffee with Bailey's Irish creme and I had peppermint tea! We still have not had breakfast yet and it is nine a.m. I will be stirring something up in a few minutes...he is out making boxes!~ Texas heat has turned my painting time inside out!! But the painting above is soft and lively despite the outside temperatures. Painted from some photos I took last fall, this little girl is out for a romp. When I paint I want my horses to explode with action and color...for you to FEEL the energy coming from them through my painting! Grace to you all, Laurie “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”—P
PICASSO PONY Acrylic on Canvas A Painting a Day Maybe I should have entitled this BAD HAIR DAY!~ Actually played with this one several weeks ago trying out some new underlays with impasto....and in person it is pretty cool. I set it in the dry room and forgot about it. I found it last night and decided I loved the movement after all! Today I am going to finish up some red flowers that are a commission piece and start a new piece exploring another area in painting that I dabbled in last year in the spring. I am anxious to push new limits and explore more. Here is something interesting I read this morning: Something to think and pray about this week There is a story from the desert fathers. A certain brother came to the abbot Moses seeking a word from him. The old man said, "Go and sit in your cell, and your cell will teach you everything." The ability to sit still, in silence, with nothing except the silence (not even a mobile phone or the sound of music), really does frig
