The Colors of Life

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2023 Face Within .  This painting led off in my woman series of warriors back in 2022. Returning to figurative painting for a small collection, this one is magical. Can you find the second face? Layers of color and overlays criss cross this entire painting mapping out two faces.  Can you find the second one?  30 x 40 inches lush bright colors. Piled and layered by brush and palette knife. I am known and collected for my intense color.  The Latest Quest Putting God first.  In the Bible it makes it seem very simple. From my understanding, we need to move our thinking process and all our thoughts to a divine level. Once we do that, we’ll see that God‘s actually got all the physical stuff taken care of. Had to think about that forward to really define what a divine level might mean. And Colossians, chapter 3 verse two, it says “Set your mind on things above, not on things of the earth.”  In Matthew, chapter 6 verse 30, it says “Seek firs

The Illinois collector has been with me at least ten years, picking up small pieces here and there.  This is why I will continue to paint for sma

But here's the amazing thing -- light trumps darkness, every time. You stick a candle into the dark, but you can't stick the dark into the light.” ― Jodi Picoult, Change of Heart Somehow things are ALWAYS better if you are not alone.  Hard to remember the words include God, and if you are a believer you are NEVER alone.  Still I believe to have your best friend, your spouse, your go to person nearby, always lends encouragement and benefit.  Giving to each other throughout a lifetime or a season in life.  The

This brought so much reflection to me yesterday when I read it... it was one of those aha moments in life where you get really quiet and realize the full essence of what you just read.  Enjoy my "The Parable of the Shopper Author unknown  From the Advent Emails from www.biblegateway.com . My feet were tired, my hands cold, my arms exhausted from the weight of the packages, and it was beginning to snow. The bus was late. I kept rearranging my packages, trying to hold them in a different way in order to give my poor arms a rest. I still remember that day as if it were yesterday,

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 www.lauriepace.blogspot.com www.ellepace.com www.thepaintedpony.ne t The Painting:   I am working off one of my own photographs I took about a month ago.  I took some good shots of some local cowboys doing a performance. I have not done portrait type work in awhile so this is a wonderful painting exercise. Too much fleshing yellows so I have to overlay some reds and blues and purples with some raw umber mixed in. Here is my photo I am working from. I have a ways to go, and Debbie, No no no to this green gunk in the background... ??? WHAT??? Life at the Lake:   Was watching it rain, be cooler, have strong winds, pick up big falling tree branches... painting, washing, more painting and making homemade soup and cornbread. The Thought:   Last night as I was still painting around s

Today was busy with dress fittings for the upcoming wedding and birthday shopping for Tink. Stacey and I had a wonderful day....so I did not paint today. The Thought:   This painting is a  long work in progress... as is life.   Just when you think you are getting the hang of things, life changes.  Never better, never worse but ALWAYS different.  Sometimes I shake my head and can imagine God chuckling as He made the plans for my life before I was even breathing here on earth. I think we all remain

'Kelly - New Beginnings' 30 x 30 inches Mixed Mediums Commission SOLD Contact me for a personalized fun painting! Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: This was fun layers of watercolor, acrylic, stamps, varnish etc. It was a work that was commissioned by my son of his now NEW fiance, Kelly. He had words from a poem he had written her and wanted specific colors and items through out the painting, including the ring on her finger. We had fun....and she loves it and she said YES when he asked her to marry him. He was 12 and she was 8ish when they met at church many years back. The Thoughts: Mind Mumbling came into thought last night. Could not find much on the internet but it is definitely rolling around at the moment in my head. I link it up with grumbling... do you ever mutter to yourself? Mind mumbling has got to be a fumbling around of thoughts in your head. Bottom line it is mind clutter. Do you think we could make it som
THE SOUND OF MUSIC Portrait Art by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me for commission work: Laurie Father May I? Picking up from yesterday's posting, I did receive quite a few positive responses to Father May I.... Thank you always for emailing me to make comments. I depend on the Lord to guide me as I write each morning. This painting is a portrait of a daughter of my mother's godchild. She is very gifted with music on several instruments as is her older sister. I still have some touch up on this yet to go, but enjoyed painting on it this weekend. Moving forward in life in the grace of God's unconditional love finds new opportunities, changes in our lives, and discovery of the new places and people. Trust in the Lord and the wisdom He has provided for you. He has given you the knowledge you need and it is time you use this knowledge to your greater good. CHILD IN THE PARK 5 x 7 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting A Day BABY BLUES!!! This was working from a photo of my grandson Jonathan. It is a tiny painting, and I really need to shoot it from my tripod. I may replace this photo with a better one. I had fun studying the light and working with the colors and TRYING not to put colors in that are traditionally in your head, but only using tones of what you actually see!!! I am stiff this morning. Will be having a wrecker pick my car up and tow it to the FIX IT SHOP. They do not think it is too bad, but want to get it up on a rack. We chose to take it to our neighbors body shop knowing it is an honest shop and they do wonderful work, but it is on the opposite side of Ft Worth from us! Hope your Thursday is full of Grace and His love. Grace to you, Laurie “For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”—Galatians 5:1
Looking into Grace 24 X 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day by Two International Artists! WOW, what energy from Conni's stay this week! Yesterday we finished up the painting we started on Sunday night. Sunday Night we worked until after Midnight...then grabbed a few hours of sleep and drove north to St Jo Texas to visit Donna Howell Sickles in her church/gallery/studio. After two hours of soaking in the gentle beauty there and visiting, we drove back through HUGE Texas Storms. There we were on some back country road that Donna sent us site seeing on, LOST. Found some highway workers and found our direction and about that time the heavens opened and the winds from the storm tossed my little Passat here and there! We found a home to pull up next to because the rain was so heavy we could not see. We were happy to arrive home an hour later and begin painting! This was a blast. Two artists, Two styles, Two matching palettes for color balance and hours of fun! Can't even b
