The True Story of Playing for Papa © Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2026 Playing for Papa Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Sometimes we don't recognize the threads that have been woven through our lives until years later. For me, music came long before painting. I grew up at the piano, later taught piano and guitar, and discovered that melodies have a way of staying with us long after the final note has faded. When I painted 'Playing for Papa', I thought I was creating a single painting. Looking back now, I realize I was uncovering something much deeper. Music wasn't simply part of my childhood—it quietly became part of the foundation beneath my art. That was me on the piano at a young age.  There is much more to the story on my website blog.  As I begin sharing more stories through Threads of Grace, I'm rediscovering how music, family, faith, and painting have always been woven together. Piano Girls

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2024 Girl on Piano Oil on Canvas  SOLD   by Laurie Pace   Our prayers are with the southeastern Gulf coast as a hurricane approaches. I miss those days. I still prefer dresses over pants today... even my studio jeans.  One of my modern girl on Piano pieces.... "Playing for Papa" These make incredible gifts for the holidays using music that is important to you or to the person receiving the gift. In the midst of commissions right now.  I loved play...

My Dad died in his eighties. He never tired of my playing the piano, and if it was hymns, he was singing along.  I remember my Grandmother would come in and sit in our formal living room, where the piano lived... and she would knit or sew while I practiced each evening. Made me feel special.  That was about 11 years ago we lost Dad.  In 11 more years, I will be his age when he passed. Sobering thought.  Seems like daily something hits me in that manner to make me realize I want to live this last part of my life in a good place mentally.  Stress is a killer... and we are good about stressing ourselves out, and anxiety grows and blood pressure pumps up and depression sinks in. I watched a y...
