Sketch of Horse Painting by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Sketch for Horse Painting 24 x 48 inches ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2012  Contact me for your own commissioned painting or to purchase this piece: Laurie      Sharing the gifts... On Monday night I attended a Girl Scout meeting. I had not been to one of those since I was Stacey's girl scout leader many years ago. It was my honor to work with these  incredible young scouts with a project and a sharing of my work and history.  With me came paints, canvas, brushes and a story about a box. We talked about doing things backwards. We talked about closing ourselves into a box and how we could not see anything altho we could still hear things. We talked about gifts from God. We talked about donuts and donut holes. (Positive and negative space) Main idea was to paint the canvas with lots of color...and while it was drying I told them about myself and my art.  Then we came back to the semi dry canvas with color.  We blocked out th
Wing on the Wind Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches SOLD Good Saturday morning! We HAVE HEAT, We HAVE HOT WATER, but I do not have lights now. Something shorted out in the attic, so there is more work and expense ahead. Terry is trying to tighten up the house. He found where the BFR (Big Fat Rat) had drug a bag of sunflower seeds (not ours because we do not buy those) into an area in between the walls and he ate and pooped all in one spot. Took Terry a long time to clean and disinfect that. He will be closing up all the open routes for the BFR. At least I have not spotted him in months! We hope to see Jonathan our grandson today. He has really been sick with coughing and congestion since Christmas. The whole breathing treatment thing too. I am glad he is doing better. He gets a new light saber when he gets there. He and Terry bought it off eBay the day after Christmas...the one I posted pictures of last month! I will try and take pictures! My daughter has
Wyoming Paint Pony OSWOA Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD $100 Egads it is after six thirty. I have been answering email for over an hour, but it is all good. I have sold quite a bit of work this morning and had to answer folks and get payment and shipping set up. Terry boxed 17 paintings this weekend and I just sold another 14...so he will be busy this week too in between the heater situation. Maybe Morgan can start boxing. I think that would work better. Then Terry can work on the heat. Today is Ash Wednesday. Many folks have no clue, but for those of us that believe, we will be in prayer and contemplation of Easter week and be tuned closely with the events leading up to that time. This forty day period is often marked by giving up of something that would be missed greatly so we learn more about giving up and sacrificing. In our current lifestyles we are not normally concerned with giving up anything. My mom also taught us to add something as well during these forty
HURRIED ~ Abstract Equine/Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home SOLD Tuesday and it finds us heading out the door. We woke up early and Terry put on a movie called "The Man in the Moon." It was really really good. Didn't want to get the day started on time, but it is our weekend so we splurged...and my blog is late in posting. As we finish up our task in Dallas we know we have much ahead of us in our own home with changes. Terry battles the memories and the pain of closing down his family home...I stand by with moral support and love knowing there is nothing I can do to fix it, but to simply listen and be here for him. The strength the Lord provides in mind, body and spirit needs to carry you through every moment of the day and night. Rest in his peace and the knowledge that He is there with you as you take every breathe. Give to Him your worries and your concerns. Confide in him with your deepest
GOLDEN MANE ~ Equine Horse Contemporary Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the home. PLEASE SIGN UP ON THE TOP RIGHT TO RECEIVE MY POST DAILY! SOLD It is Sunday Morning. The sun is breaking over the horizon and the wind is strong out the south . There is news that a cold front is finally breaking through from Colorado and we will drop to highs near 70 for a few days. That is the beginning of our fall/winter. Nothing like most know of cold...just wonderful temps. This beauty was finished on Friday. She emerged from clouds of paint and color that I kept moving around on the canvas until I finally saw her in the mist. It is a she without a doubt and she has a beautiful mane and she knows it! I have a second blog to keep up with on Daily Painters market. I will not blog the same thoughts there, but you might see different things. By far this is the blog that will be kept up daily with my thoughts, but just in case you want to stop b
AT ODDS ~ Abstract Contemporary Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches angled Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas It is good to be home, but it was a sleepless night. The effects of sunburn, ozone and heat stroke are powerful. The show was great and a total of 14 paintings sold and maybe 10 prints. Also sold a handful of books and quite a few posters. BUT, it did remind me of why I don't do tent shows. It has been three years and this will most definitely be the last one. I always enjoy all the folks I see and meet and hopefully trade off positive energy. The above painting is a typical pull painting for me with a twist of an angle. It is powerful in person but may not look right on this blog. No telling. I think God is like that for sure. He is powerful but the situation may not always look right. Falls back on that trust issue again. Boy today's Dailyword.com is right on. "I may not always understand the reasons that my life is unfolding as it is. I have faith, how
HOMEWARD BOUND, horse ~ by Laurie Justus Pace 30 by 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD This dynamic painting has more color and energy than most...and it is a huge size as well. It will fill a room with its being. Palette knife action, thick creamy Holbein Duo Oils...and a passion of movement....and a piece from the past. A good night's sleep, the call of early birds, although it is pitch black outside still...and a hot shower and I am ready to roll. Terry has to work today, so Morgan and Hillary will be manning the booth at the arboretum with me today. When we lived in Dallas seven years ago, we were always supporting members...a bit harder from Justin TX...but being back here in the gardens is always magical. This has to be one of the prettiest in the nation. The folks putting on the show have thought of EVERYTHING> There is a refreshment room filled with food for the artists, they come around with wagons FULL of cold water and smiles and candy bars. I think I told you last ni
ALIKE MINDS ~ Contemporary Horses by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Good Thursday Morning to you. I commented to Terry I was beginning to feel my age as I got up this morning. We cleaned out half the garage last night because of trash pick up today and I certainly could feel it when we got up at five thirty. We have a Fire Inspection next week for our CPS certification. NO rubbish allowed. Not sure what they will say with all my cardboard for shipping my work. This painting is in Wyoming at the Shooting Stars Gallery, but I also have it listed on a new internet site for my work. Patrick at www.eleganthorsepictures.com is now exclusively carrying my giclees and prints and low low price posters. (Which I do sign!) They are all printed here, signed and mailed from my studio. My page on this site is www.eleganthorsepictures.com/laurie-pace.html . PLEASE check it out. You might find some good prices for Christmas gifts, birthdays or just for yourself
Early Evening Dusk ~ Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas CONTEMPORARY ART for your home. This is a second in this series of reflections. The first one was in coffee colors and this one is in blues! I noticed after I posted two paintings last week with horses and reflections there are several artists inspired on to paint horses and reflections! Paint on! Gee, did I sleep last night? I was here in the studio working until eleven. Fell into bed and slept and I am back here at seven. I just finished my bible study ...it is on David in 1 Samuel. Pretty deep reading tying in the bond of the covenant between David and Jonathan and the bond with three with the Father. Then the covenant through the bread given to us as when Jesus says He is the bread of life....so much to reflect on this morning as I paint. I had a comment on yesterday's work from Blue (Michael) and I wanted to email him and didn't know how...so if you are reading this, I did leave a c
RED CELEBRATION ~ Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Contemporary Art for your home! SOLD Too much chocolate. I made a triple layer Droste (yes all organic) chocolate birthday cake for Justin yesterday. Made triple Chocolate Droste Icing for the three layer cake and it was chocolatey! YUMMM...we made sure we sent half the left overs with the grandson and took the other half of the left over cake to Rachel across the street. I am fooded out beyond belief. This above painting was sheer joy to paint, a celebration of the energy in life and the passion of color and the beauty of all the palette God provides around us. I hope it makes you grin, or laugh even. Laughter is a gift from the Lord for us to release super good warm fuzzies into our body. I always told my husband I was born with out a funny bone. I never cared to read the funnies in the newspaper and I don't seem to laugh out loud much when others are laughing, but
Breaking Through the Line 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contemporary Art Work SOLD Friday morning...whew, where did the week go? I am still not caught up. Need to make a list to get it all done. This painting was completed yesterday...it was one of those that started out being something else, like a landscape...go figure. That is how our lives are though. We all seem to formulate plans (with control) of how we want our lives to be. Even the tightest control person has NO CONTROL. The results are often our lives seem to be in a mess, just like my original painting was. I spent sooo much time on it, but it just didn't work once I photographed it. So when your life seems boggled inside out and you don't know what to do with everything, go to the Lord in prayer. AND, not just in prayer, but in faith. Believe he has good for you. Believe in your right to have good things in your life. (Good things are simple things...not the worldly junk around us). Trust in eager anticipati
RUNNING WILD 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contemporary Modern Art Good Wednesday. Terry returned to work today so I am back working full time. We worked here at home yesterday finishing up boxing for shipping and me buried still in paperwork from the wreck. Everyone continues to ask for the same thing five times at least! We made Fedex by two yesterday and headed into the Big D to use the truck to pick up my father in law's new bed. When we were at Macy's, I realized the woman helping him has sold furniture to every member of our family from my mom to all my kids, to us and now to Ben. She knows her stuff. It has been about two years since I saw her and we caught up quickly. Her hubby is a photographer that does the art show circuit. I hope we meet in the future, sounds like we have much in common. We truly never know what somethings happen in life and who God brings into our lives. We ended the evening with a YUM dinner at ST Cafe again and a trek through Whole Foods f
AUGUST HEAT 30 x 30 inches Oil/Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD T'is early this morning, not even five a.m. Terry was snoring soundly as I crept out of the bedroom in to work. This vacation stuff is hard, I want to paint, but we are always on the go. August Heat was painted just before we left the first of August for Wyoming. It is an acrylic base built with impasto and thick paint and then covered with a layer of oil and accents of oil in colors. Unusual today, but I will post the enter www.dailyword.com for today. This is for Richard in Florida as well as Terry and I as we face indecision over our move or build situation. Daily Word — Wednesday, August 15, 2007 Divine Order Divine order is unfolding in my life right now. Some trees begin to grow with a spindly, lopsided appearance. Yet a wise gardener knows that in time, those scraggly branches will become full, feathery fronds of graceful and intricate symmetry. Nature offers cou
A Group of Three 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Almost two weeks ago, before we left on our trip, I hung this painting in the studio knowing I was not through with it and not sure what energy had transpired. When we returned this week and I saw it, I knew it was complete. So often in life relationships come and go...some people that come into your life are solid and stay through everything, while others come and go and some never return. In this painting the two front horses represent the calm stayed relationship. In the background hovers a third horse, rather unsure of the balance of energy, and not representing the three in one energy. The composition lends it self upside down to the power of the triangle but the actual horses do not in their relationship. This is simply the pondering of the artist. Often when I paint I do not know the why of what evolves. So I present to you "A GROUP OF THREE". Through this I celebrate divine nature! Last night wh
SUMMER RUN Oil on Canvas 30 x 30 inches A Painting a Day Click here to bid. SOLD Back in the saddle!~ Today I will be answering emails and revamping my schedule. I have several commission pieces to get out that are dry and several to begin as well. This horse was painted just before we left on vacation. He is nice and dry now and ready for a home. If you are interested click the link above and visit my auction on eBay. I felt so bad letting the Daily Painters down last week. I usually post 6 out of 7 days, and I think I was only able to post three days with the travel into the mountains and limited internet access. Lunch today with my neighborhood women and I get to catch up on everyone's lives. I am not keen on the "WHERE" in town, but I can eat later! I may think about doing a website for the women so we can keep up with each other and prayer needs etc. More to come and after nine hours of sleep I am ready to face the day. I want you to know that this day is full o
WILD WIND SOLD Okay I am in Colorado.... on a new mac laptop at starbucks, and of course as I open this blogspot it is not opening like it does at home...only in HTML. So I do not have the normal screen. Just wanted to post and let you know we are doing well despite the altitude and my head pounding. The Wyoming Show was FABULOUS and both Terry and I have enjoyed meeting so many wonderful folks in Glenrock. I can't Thank Shooting Stars Gallery enough for having me! Maybe tomorrow I can figure out how to get the regular screen back. We have 10 m"in parking limit outside and I am typing fast!!!! Grace to you all, and Glory to the Lord! Laurie eek no bible with me! I have to skip rather than try and mess it up. I have to stay with "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your insight. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs
FURY 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day Egads...I am sunburned. I took the morning off and went swimming, rather floating, with my neighbor. I haven't take a break from the studio for something enjoyable like that in a LONG TIME. Well I am paying for it. I have the skin type that is winter white, but once I am in the sun I am a brown berry. Well, it has been years since I have been out floating around and I forgot to think about sunscreen because I figured I would only be there a short time. Well three hours later I raced home to handle stuff with the wreck and lawyers etc and didn't take the time to shower until after dinner. I am burned. White strap marks and all! It may be a rough weekend. This painting is another one of my smaller pieces, studies for larger paintings. I am taking watercolors on the trip. I have to really rethink my stuff because we may be flying. Still trying to figure that one out. Less stuff can come with me! I am he
PONY 2 30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Saturday morning and too much to do. I stopped working around two yesterday and was helping with other work around the homestead. This is an expressionistic piece of passion and Santa Fe type colors.... and of course ENERGY! Allow the energy of the Lord to fill you this day. Go into the day with a positive smile and energies and spread the joy to each person you meet today. I am sending you a big smile across the miles from my studio.... Shalom, Laurie “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.”—Psalm 19:1
MORNING ROLL 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Whew, when I started this painting I began with the golds and worked counter clockwise into green, midnight blues, purples and then to the reds.... I stepped back and thought " ICK" but began working on the horse still not sure of what colors would make up this rolling baby in the morning light! The colors began building as I went and slowly as I added more and more it worked into the vivid background, all of it alive with action and color. It takes a daring person to love this one, but hopefully it will touch a heart! Yesterday we went back into Dallas to order glasses. I couldn't decide, so I bought two pair. My sunglasses I used my old Maui Jim frames that I LOVE ~ but the new ones...geez one is a frame maker called facetoface I think and they have plaid sides going over the ears and square rectangles in the front. The second pair is tortoise like pattern in PURPLE!!!!! The eyes are shapes like the act
Light of the Paint 8 x 10 x 2 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD This is a trial painting of one I will do larger. I want to establish the colors I use as well as the setting of the horse on the surface. From these studies I can see what I have to work with. I am debating a larger scene with another horse to the left. Will be sketching out the ideas later today after working with MR PRINTER. Mega thanks to Peter Togel for helping me with this monster. It is printing but I think we are running on a cable that is too long. Too complicated to explain, but I have to pack up my dining room to move my computer in to where the printer is, it is HUGE and cannot make it around the corners to get to the room I paint and work in. Yesterday I painted all day...the sun was out and Brendan came to mow. It will be sunny again today and hot, which is what is normal for July. This next week is Mom's birthday and Terry's birthday. After that is Conni Tögel's and Lanie's birth
