I cannot believe it has been 13 years since I painted this sunflower painting. By far it is one of my favorites. The purples contrast the yellows and sing a joyful sound as they blend together. You can actually feel the wind here in Texas, blowing through! There is much happening on social media as well as it is on Google Blogs.  I have now begun to pray about this blog and if I will even continue after 17 years on this platform.  I am just over 11,000 hits to hit 1.5 million visitors.    Canada is passing new laws, it is it's long awaited online harms legislation today.  You need to do your own research on this one... but my eyes are open and believe this is another nudge by God. They are going back and applying things that may have been written and stated year

'Like a field of sunflowers'.” ― Fiona Valpy .”  Summer and Sun seem to be knitted together and the beauty of Sunflowers floods the streets and byways in the state of Texas. We have tall ones, short ones, skinny ones, fat ones.... lots of Sunflowers statewide.  As we get into August you begin to see the stress on these one happy stable flowers that have taken root and bloomed through the months...but August temps suck it all out of everything.  This upcoming election is doing a nice job of that as well. Media is sucking the life out of everything.  I do not want to hear or read about it or Covid 19.   Instead I am called to take my life far away from the worldly mess that keeps pulling us in emotionally. How many times a day are you on Facebook? How

With it is pouring rain that seems to have no end for the next 48 hours.   That being said, ATT offices in the DFW area were hit by lightning and there is intermittent cable and absolutely no internet. So my time is limited today. The painting above was from 14 years ago, but one of my per
Sunflowers Oil Painting by Laurie Pace 18 x 27 inches To purchase click here. I am here, barely. Short blog as it may be. I painted this painting last week. As you can imagine I have not painted in three days. I got up this morning, have not showered yet, feeling rather weak. The house is filthy since I have not been up to keep up the sweeping to keep the dust down. There is still a huge trench in the yard for the repaired gas line and the dogs bring in that soil. It tends to spread as we go in and out of that back room where I paint. I have literally lived in our bedroom for the past three days with the crockpot steaming peppermint into the air and my mom dropped off a cool mist humidifier. My coughing is much better. Last night I had sweet potatoes for dinner. I have lost six pounds, but not sure I like to lose it this way. I never drink juices, I eat the real fruit, but I had Morgan pick up some real OJ Not concentrate...with pulp and I have sipped on about 8-12 oz each da

AFTERNOON SUNFLOWERS 10 X 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Whew, Thursday is behind me! The day started early as I finished up some painting... Annie Mae (she is seven) and I took about a mile walk and gathered wild flowers. We arrived back and had worked up a good appetite on our walk and decided on Waffles....and fresh fruit. Conni was showered and functioning when we got back and we all jumped into the kitchen. The results were breakfast on the back deck/porch with wildflowers in a vase in the center of the table and piles of waffles and hot syrup to consume! After breakfast it was time to work some more and Conni joined me in the studio watching me do some palette knife work. She said husband Peter would have a heart attack if he saw HOW MUCH Paint I use on a painting! She jumped on a canvas with a knife and a HUGE mound of paint and impasto...and it is a work in progress and what fun to paint together with music weaving in behind us. Annie sat in the chair with a ske

It goes on auction this week on eBay. Thoughts this morning were based for all mothers out there. As I woke this morning I realized how much (Everything) is out of my control. As a mother you are always running around planning things and trying maintain control on a diverse family unit going ten directions at one time. Releasing that control is next to impossible, but has to be done or only anxiety and frustration result. I prayed this morning for all mothers...with thoughts directed not only to the moms of the injured and deceased students from Virginia Tech but also for the mother of the young man that killed and injured so many. Can you even begin to imagine what emotions are rolling through that family and that mother? As a mom you only want what is best for your children and when the child becomes an
Texas Sunflowers Hwy 75 Oil on Canvas 11 x 14 inches A Painting a Day SOLD Good morning! Boy was I glad to be back home yesterday. We drove into Dallas for a Doc visit, groceries and a stop for shoes at Whole Earth Provisions. BUT from the first step out of the car in Dallas my sinus reacted violently swelling shut to the ozone in the air. After we left and arrived home early evening,...but bed I was fine. They say this spring is the worst on record for allergy sufferers and they also said it was actually worse in the city than the country which is reverse of what you would think. Has something to do with the pollen clinging to the pollution in the air. On with life! Today is finish wash day and prepare for painting this week. I will be working on another sunflower similar to the one above. This one is on auction with ARTBYUS.com. Wish more buyers looked there, much nicer to work with the Togels and this great auction place for art. You might check it out!~ This painting has T
