Begonias at the Table By Texas Artist Laurie Pace    8 x 10 inches Oil on Canvas   Click on the painting or title to make an offer. I will consider ALL offers. Had to paint something different yesterday, so I went back in my personal photos and found these begonias I shot back in 2004.  This was a plant of colorful blooms sitting on the kitchen table on a bright blue table cloth. The Begonias were just dying to have their pictures painted, so I played in color yesterday.         Success can be defined in many ways for different people. It seems important to define ‘success’ for yourself.  Some will define it by income, but what if you make a huge income but you do not enjoy what you do? Is this success? If you base ‘success’ strictly on money it would be. What do you need to grow? For many there is the enjoyme

Nanie's Pitcher Floral Flower Art Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Nanie's Pitcher' 8 x 10  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 www.lauriepace.blogspot.com www.ellepace.com www.thepaintedpony.ne t The Painting: Love this pitcher.. one of my favorites!  Had to do a painting of it last week. The Thought:  Dallas has not changed much.  We are staying at my mom's for the first two days of our trip and then with Morgan the last two days.  My thoughts will be brief with so much going on with the wedding and all the places we have to be at the assigned times...so worn out is the best description!   This weekend is birthday weekend for Crystal... and then next week for Mom and Terry and Vicky...so much to do ... on top of the wedding. I will try to add to this blog through out the day when time allows, so you will have to just stay tuned! Can you hear me singing? "MY GOD is so big, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot

'White Peonies Blue Vase' Palette Knife Flower Floral Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'White Peonies Blue Vase' 9 x 12 inches  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Bright colors were on my palette this morning as I began to pile the paint.  Blue vases always remind me of my dad. The Thought:  Sometimes we are so close to something we cannot even see it or see where we are.  How can you possibly move forward to new blessing in your life if you are so focused on what is there that you cannot give value to new blessings already sitting in front of you.  That is when it is time to turn loose of what you are holding onto so tightly.  You cannot receive what else God has to give you if you can't let go of what you think is so important.  Trusting in Him and His power to prosper you and move you forward. Prosper does not necessarily mean money... it means to make steady progress and thrive.  Are you doing that in your life right now? God is providing the best

The Thought: I promised a show today and you will have one.   The joy of our 10th month old granddaughter that you know by the nickname of Tink, short for Tinkerbell. They will not be able to be at our family Christmas this year, so they came over last night for fish stew, Latka German Potato cakes, apple pie and cookies from ST Cafe in Dallas and Crystal's wonder sugar cookies! From my heart to your home.... here is our Tinkerbell and family! Togetherness with family and friends is important at the Christmas Season. While you look forward to them as much as I do, there are moments in meal preparation and wrap

'Four White Vases' Flower Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Four White Vases' 24 x 30  Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2005 The Painting : Another one from 2005.  WHY? I was laid up with a powerful backpull yesterday and I didn't get anything done.  I have two paintings sketched out on canvas, but they are not even one step passed that. The Thought :  I struggled to make it from the bed to my desktop as my laptop does not have access to older files on it.  Makes me reflect on struggles in our life overall.  Some of us have physical struggles, others have mental and some are blessed with both.  We all struggle in one way or the other.  The House of Representatives just passed the health care reform bill...more struggles are ahead.   I am not sure how we can adjust our health care system to make it work. Things have spiraled out of control. What I do know is my youngest son did his college final thesis on health care back in 2004.  He was

'Whistler's Orchid" Flower Orchid Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'Whistler's Orchid' 16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2005 The Painting : Back in 2005 a man by the name of James Whistler sent me a cd full of his prize orchids. They have provided much inspiration for paintings. This was one of my favorites. I think he has this one. Painted on canvas from Rupen at Canvasplace.com, I used Holbein Duo Oils for a smooth creamy blend with a small brush. The Thought : Locked in a dungeon... have you been there? I guess today we call it jail. No I have not been there, but I have visited there and that was quite enough. Carrying through though from yesterday's thought, sometimes we lock ourselves into our own jail of thought. Our world is so limited to earthly ideals and situations that we continue to miss the big picture. We are often looking for answers to things that we feel need resolution, when in fact they are things that do not matter...our ea

'Lush Blooms' Large Oil Flower Painting by Laurie Pace

'Lush Blooms' 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Thank you! Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " You should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven. " Matthew 5:16 The Painting : This is part of my Backyard Blooms for 2009. It is a series where I am blocking the painting with acrylic before painting it in oils. It is a longer process but the painting seems richer for the extra time. The Thought : I read something from "A Gentle Thunder" written by Max Lucado. "You want to make a difference in your world? Live a holy life. Be faithful to your spouse. Be the one at the office who refuses to cheat. Be the neighbor who acts neighborly. Be the employee who does the work and doesn't complain. Pay your bills. Do your part and enjoy life. Don't speak one message and live another. People are watching the way we act more than they

Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. " John 13:34 The Painting : This painting was a commission piece by the wife of the Swiss Ambassador to Berlin. She had bought several pieces of artwork from me and from my son Morgan, including a gorgeous Texas Flag he painted. She is a Texan transplanted to Europe and she was missing her roots! The Thought : Care thoughts are roaming around in my head. On Tuesday, Terry and I drove 135 miles round trip to take our dogs back to their original vet in Ponder, Texas. Dr Phil Henderson owns the Ponder Vet Clinic and he is absolutely the best in Texas. We had used a Dallas vet the past year living here in the city, but I struggled with all the extra meds they wanted my dogs on. The women at the clini

Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Blooms of Summer' 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase. Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 I have a post note at the bottom of this post... please take a moment and read it. " Make a joyful noise to the Lord all the earth. " Psalm 100:1 Do you have a pair of old slippers? What about a favorite coffee cup? There are things we have that bring us great comfort even in their simplicity. Those 'things' are a sign to us of contentment and when in use we feel contented and safe. In comparison... what is joy? Those slippers are definitely contentment, a sign you have arrived home safe from the world, or warmth on a cold morning etc. But Joy, are those slippers joy to you? Pure joy exceeds the contentment of knowing everything is going reasonable well. As you and I both know, in a split second your world can be upside down. Joy has to be found in the moment and it comes directly from Him. Joy is in us at all times,

Matthew 5:23-24. The Painting: White orchids inspired by my mother's home, filled with these beauties; she has the magic touch with them. Layers from bottom to top working overlays of color, this is not quite finished, but I am posting it today. The Thought: Sometime in your life I know you have experienced the learning, relearning experience. When you teach school they refer to the second time around as the 'reteach' lesson. When the first lessons comes around in your life you are suppose to muddle through it and glean information and save it for future times so you don't hav
No. 45 Blue Iris Contemporary Art Flowers Iris Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches oil on canvas SOLD Contact me for purchasing. Mention the title of the painting. Laurie "In everything set them an example by doing what is good." Titus 2:7 By Example. Do everything knowing you are setting the standards for those around you and it is important for you to set a Godly example for others. Knowledge is an important thing in life. Knowledge leads to wisdom...but more important is to teach the basic example of living an exemplary life honoring God. Others pick up on your examples observing how you walk the walk. Through self-control when you are presented in a tight situation, you provide leadership and positive action to resolve the situation. Maintaining integrity is also a wise step. Always be eager to do good and help out others around you. The example you set affects many other lives. You never know who is watching you. When your patience is being tried,

Orchids Flower Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 Oil on Linen Panel SOLD Inquiries: Laurie Cleaning out the studio yesterday was quite a chore. I will box some shipments today and then clean the floors...they are brick. The dogs sort of live in here with me too, it is a huge area about 24 x 24 and they do get to get out into the house, but when I am in here, they are too, so it gets dirty. My grandmother always told me Cleanliness is next to Godliness. I do feel better when it is clean in here... always excited about painting in a clean area so I can mess it up again. Cleanliness is a comfort in a way to me and it gives me hope...it lifts my spirits. When things pile up and get cluttered, so does my mind. Life seems to clutter up all of our minds with so much activity and business. It is too early and dark to go exploring but there is a book I uncovered that mom was reading while she was here entitled Preparing for Tomorrow, or something like that. Of course it was written ba
YELLOW FLOWERS by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase and include name of painting. Laurie A very quick blog as we tend to last minute things around the house. I will try and take pictures as we finish up. Terry has the gate done in the backyard. He and Morgan will move the boat this morning so it is not sitting in the middle of the back yard. The extra boat pieces will be stored next to the side of the house. He has the horrible itch to get a second boat trailer for the second boat but I suggested a storage area when he said that. He then said, I have a back yard, and I said...you need lawyer first. I do not think I am over sensitive to TWO huge sailboats taking over the entire backyard. I am on a mission to find out more about Alzheimer Trained Dogs. I now know they exist. I found the first one was trained in Israel. There are a few here in the states, but not many. This is a void that must be filled. With the growing number of Alzheimer
FACING THE SUN Sunflower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 on Linen Panel SOLD ON DAILY PAINTERS THANK YOU Short blog for sure this morning! Can you tell me difference between Happiness and Joy? Happiness seems to be the thing we search for our entire lives. My grandmother was the one that told me it came from within and especially when you do for others. I remember as a young teenager sitting with her in my room when she shared this with me. Everything seems so traumatic at that age...so I thought. It is 100 fold at this age. What I have discovered at this age is that Joy is a far deeper richer feeling than happiness. Joy can be felt even in the darkest moment when you are buried in the deepest of problems. Happiness is temporary because it is based on external circumstance, but Joy... Joy my friend, is based on God's presence with in each of us. Contentment is found with in you and it is there but you are usually too busy chasing happiness to know Joy is with in y
SPRING FLOWERS for Mothers' Day Floral Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Contact me to purchase, please mention the title of the painting. Laurie Here is the size in a frame with a couch... it is a large oil painting. Size in this picture is not perfectly to scale. The painting is 30 x 30 inches. Yesterday was the LONGEST day. I literally worked from 5 a.m. until eleven last night and fell into bed. Terry got home just after midnight and here it is five forty two and I am blogging this morning. Not sure how intelligent the blog will be. Friday coming up next week is our CPS inspection. We were certified and ready to go at our last home in Justin last November and we moved. With the house in the situation it has been in, we could not redo all of our stuff until now. We still have much to do to meet the standards for the health inspection. I will paint this morning and then work on inside stuff this afternoon. Terry will be left with finishing walls where the
FLOWERS IN NANIE'S CONCRETE POT Flower Art On Canvas by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches SOLD Terry sleeps soundly as I quietly left the room this morning. Thought I would start my day early and keep the house quiet so he can catch a few more z's. The concrete pot in the painting is still with us today! It was his grandmothers and we fill it with blooms every year. Yesterday I went to church with my parents and then home to prepare lunch for them and Jon and Justin. Jonathan has grown so much. When I hug him he is tucked up tight under my chin and I am five ft nine. He is only ten years old. He is going to be tall! Justin helped me put together my new sofa table..it is glass, metal and wood. Terry got home just in time to share an hour with Jon before they had to leave. Then I was back on my schedule. Today Terry will box, I will finish up a magnolia painting that is a commission piece and I have been sketching out a new series and hope to get the sketch on canvas. I
