SOLD  At this point the bottom left is not covered with Prussian Blues, Sap Green, Leaf Green, light Yellow Cad, oranges made with QRed and LYC and whites...all streaming in counter action to the blues and yellows opposite on the canvas.  Again this is reflective of the painting that was chosen for a guide to what they wanted for their home. I cannot seem to contain the energy in this painting as the knife has a spirit of its own. SOLD  As I eased around the top blue corner right I broke out in brilliant golds and yellows using Indian Yellow and white, a little light yellow cad and then infused white and oranges throughout the area. The paint will really thicken now and become a textured part of the composition. I was veering away from too much green but wanted a little hint of sprigs of green as I worked toward the bottom right. I have to set up the paint to be bright and vivid enough to with stand a layer of white, carmel, maybe reds and more white for the mane.  They have specifically ask for some blue in the sky, which is not a normal for me in any way.  So as I work toward the right side top I will infuse some blues with Horizon Blue and some Cobalt Blue. (Holbein Duo Oils) The pinks and oranges evolved from Light Cad Yellow and Quinacridone Red and then working into the white with the QRed. I tried NOT to have purple from the pink on the blue. That is controlled by pressure in the knife. SOLD  I was contacted by New River Fine Art for a commissioned painting last year. It has taken about four months to get the details worked out but we are on track and making way.  What helped with this painting is they loved a painting of three horses I did in 2010. The problem was they only wanted two horses and the original was 24 x 30... this is 28 x 56. Quite a huge difference in size and proportion. They have approved the sketch at this point for this new horse painting and away we go! I began by rotating my canvas on the easel a quarter turn at a time and working the entire canvas with layers of paint. After I covered the entire surface I immediately knew what I saw in the painting. These are not normal palette colors for me, but I was pulled strongly to thinking of summer winds and how when they are strong they feel like they could blow right through you. They become a part of who you are. Same in the painting... the summer winds are not cold, but they move through each horse in the herd with the layers of paint weaving it all together.   This piece is at MIrada Fine Art in Denver.
