I can already see what I want to do differently next trip around the studio with this.  Meanwhile I will press on to see what discoveries are made as I go.  Besides looking like a unicorn-horse... it truly is just the sub-layering of colors that may or may not be left when I am done.  I know most artists get this.  In our lives w

I will add a verse or thoughts to it now as well. Every painting has a purpose, a lesson, a heart string.

Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”    C.G. Jung  Feels like an awakening here in the studio. This is the latest painting on my easel. a contemporary abstract Horse Painting!  The Lord is here with me and it is because of my husband praying with me and urging me to return to the gifts God has graced me with; a return to the words of my heart.  We are not all given the same gifts in which to s

They understand that in desperate circumstances they may experience joy, and in jubilant circumstances they may feel regret. They know that any emotion will change. But because emotions are not the centerpiece of their lives, they do not pander to them. They create what they create, not in reaction to their emotions but independent of them. On days filled with the depths of despair, they

Definitely has a determined look!   Sometimes looking back in life brings back beautiful memories, laughter and joy and brings some happy peace to our lives. Other times looking back stirs up negative things or times of conflict...those are things that bring us down. We do not have to allow this to happen. We have the choice. While we must live in this moment of this day... we can draw back from happy times to remember

(I have to mask the faces of our grandchildren under the age of 18.)

The horse in this small piece is a mixture of what I feel inside sometimes. Conflicted and allowing outer things to invade my thoughts and peacefulness. God is our only sanctuary of peace, satisfaction and safety. It is not in the people around you or in the world around you. Peace if found by uplifting yourself to Him. Especially at this time of year... the eve before we celebrate the birth of Jesus. As we come into this Christmas Eve Day... think back over all your Christmas' past. My favorite was the year Terry and I were first married. He was in Tulsa with American, transferring back to Alliance in Fort Worth. I flew up to be with him arriving mid day on Christmas Eve. We were preparing

We lit our fourth candle on our advent wreath this morning... My eyes were misting in tears just remembering the few days before each of my children were born and remembering exactly what I was doing. Mary was not home, she was traveling a hard journey uphill in higher altitudes on the back of a donkey. Can you even begin to imagine the thoughts weaving through her mind? The new painting is "Confronting the Fear."  It is a single young horse stopped and looking down to something just ahea
