Three at Sunrise Horses 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day CLICK HERE TO BID ALMOST happy new year!!! We are going to go to the Meadows Museum in Dallas near SMU today to see the Monet exhibit ...I think they are several other artists, but Hubby didn't share the whos who at the show....I think my parents will go with us! MEANWHILE...I just finished this energetic painting above and it is already on eBay. It is Holbein Duo Oils mixed with IMPASTO to create a THICKER body of paint for the palette knife to move on the canvas. Stay safe tonight! Don't party so hard you get a headache and do not drink and drive. Grace, Laurie “The promise of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all who take refuge in him.”—Psalm 18:30
Colors One Horses Five 22 x 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day CLICK HERE TO BID Good morning from the studio. I have been up painting for three hours now! My stomach is growling so I decided it was time to take a break...if it lets up raining I will walk the dogs, if not, I put leashes on them one at a time and do circles inside the house...the other follows along...they have fun and at least I get some exercise. This painting is using the impasto mixed into the oil paint creating an even thicker pull with the paint leaving defined edges through out the composition. The colors are bright and vivid. I have been so busy this year I haven't caught up and really not ready to jump into 2007. By this time I normally have all my files pulled and ready for the CPA except for the last day or so...but with New Years eve on a Sunday, my year stops then and I have paintings ending on eBay this weekend, so I have to wait. Need to go buy the macho big container I have to store all the

Wild Blue Trio One Horse Horse Horse 24 x 24 inch Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day This is the second in the series of three...thick paint with a palette knife...startling colors and a great painting over all! Busy back in the studio today. Have to run up to Pilot Point to pick up a painting in a shop there that sold and Sunday will deliver it to Dallas. We will eat at a FABULOUS Mexican Restaurant there...good excuse to go to Pilot Point! Need to walk somewhere in between. Grace to all, Laurie
Wild Red Trio One HORSE HORSE HORSE 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Fabulous colors for the new year... there is this one, a yellow one and a blue one. I will post one each day. They are 24 X 24 and thick with paint, dimensional with ridges and strokes of the palette knife! BASKET WEAVER IN GREECE Landscape, portrait 9 x 12 inches Oil on Board A Painting A Day RICH RICH THICK texture...click to see it piled on close up! Merry Christmas to one and all. Tomorrow is boxing day and I will paint again on Wednesday. I am STUFFED...ate too many big meals, visited too many places today and ate entirely too much... I am rolling my body into bed with a good book.... Grandson slept on the couch last night. He is 9. He wanted to catch Santa in Action. My husband and I fell asleep waiting for him to fall asleep...at 3 this morning, Terry, my husband, wakes me up..."WE GOTTA GET SANTA OUT into the stockings.." let's just say I wasn't my normal smiley self at all. We got back into bed about 3:30 and I had just fallen into a slumber and I heard soft knocking on our door..." BAMPA , MUM' whispers loudly erupted, "Are you awake, Santa has been here...the cookies are gone...yes we were eating choc cookies and downing milk at three....S
FARMERS MARKET Landscape 8 x 10 inches oil on canvas A Painting a Day Christmas Eve morning is upon us. I finished this painting up two days ago...I have one I am finishing up now but with the blogger switching over I am a day or so behind in posting. My thoughts are with all my family and friends over the next few days...I am taking a mini vacation from the studio until Wednesday. I may try and post a painting or two until then...but nothing more! Let the light of the season fill your soul so that you may in turn shine into the lives of others. God's richest blessings and love to you all. Laurie
City New Years Rain Cityscape 18 X 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Good morning. I missed yesterday because I couldn't get BLOGGER to upload my images...so finally I switched to the NEW BLOGGER ( I was on a beta blogger) and it worked! YEAH!!!!! So a day behind it not bad! This is a peaceful~ restful painting...remember (although it is hard to in Texas) what it like after the rains come...and the sky is only partially cleared?? That is the moment this picture captures! You can feel the coolness in the air from the rain and the city appears Washed CLEAN! Painted with a palette knife and cool colors for a New Years ring to it! Scrambling still here and there for last minute shopping...just small things. We ate at a Mexican Restaurant in the Denton Mall and it was by far some of the WORSE food I have ever eaten and they were proud of that with their prices. As my grandson would say, YUCCA. Hopefully we get to see him tomorrow. We raised him with his dad for over four
Herd of Nine HORSES 18 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Morgan was over painting when I started this one...it almost turned into a street scene in the city but then I began to explore the colors and pushing the edge on the slides of contrast and the blends...and then FINALLY the horses began to appear. Usually they are out in the beginning as I pull, this time they emerged in the end....the over all effect is dazzling in person with the marigold exploding from behind! Are you all ready for the holidaze ??? I think I am in it. Still have some students today, but will be painting this morning to begin my work for my gallery show this next summer. You will get to see these as I paint as well over the next few months. Merry Christmas to all! Laurie “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God.”—1 Corinthians 2:12
Dark and Light at Sunrise Horses 15 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day. Good morning...I am up and preparing to paint for a few hours and then will do some Christmas baking and finish up some outside decorations.... we have company in for the holidays and are in preparation for this! Yesterday Terry and I finished up some more Christmas Shopping...just a few more things to pick up...I do not believe he has bought anything for me yet...maybe a stocking stuffer....so he has some to do! I am still waiting for one last package to arrive with his dad's gift, but am losing hope. Had to send Niki's package on with out her BIG present too...it is coming with Terry's Dad's gift...from the same company. I ordered the end of November but things are back ordered.... eeeek . Meanwhile ...I hope you are well and preparing for this wondrous season....hope, light, love and joy! Grace to you, Laurie “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good

OUTPOST GATHERING HORSES HORSES HORSES 30 X 40 Acrylic on Canvas A Painting A Day There's a unique shop in Pilot Point Texas that sells to the lovers of the horse... It is an Equine consignment store. The Owner contacted me this week, since Pilot Point is only about 40 miles from Justin...and I quickly painted up a few acrylics for their grand opening this weekend. This is the first one entitled the OUTPOST GATHERING....brilliant color contrast with Golden Acrylics. Always unique and very individual, each of my 'gathering' paintings generates conversation both between the horses within and the viewer watching. Terry and I drove up to Pilot Point yesterday afternoon taking back roads avoiding the interstate traffic. We crossed over the damn at Lake Ray Roberts...it was stunning. We enjoyed dinner at a fabulous Mexican Restaurant near the Consignment Store and headed home around five thirty and were gifted with a gorgeous sunset over the lake as we returned toward Justi
THE JOURNEY Tree Landscape 18 X 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day This week of my life has been a journey and I have walked it totally in faith that the Lord has a plan to make something out of what has happened with in our family. I was at my youngest son's apartment on Wednesday night and saw a piece of art work I did back in 1999 and between that inspiration and my paints today, this work emerged. Not sure if it is fall or winter or even spring...but from the dark into the light exists as well as the path between. Isn't that life ? Also in my mind were thoughts of another daily painter, Cheryl A. Pass ... she was questioning where she was going with her art...her journey...and all of this was tumbling around in my head as I worked yesterday. Gotta hit the canvas. Was contacted by a Western Store north of here that wants to carry some work and I promised some pieces, so today I will be painting non stop! Grace to you all... Laurie Okay...now try this one...as I g
Fabulous Nine Wild Horses 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Another great escape...nine glorious horses running toward you in the early morning mist. Pulled colors of three layers of creamy Holbein Duo Oils....ready to bid on currently on eBay . Click here to bid. We were continuing yesterday to finish up a situation that sprung up on Monday night...and returned from Dallas late last night to find a deep refrigerator. Water everywhere and food loss of course. My first job when the stores are open, is to find someone to deliver a new refrig to my doorstep today, meanwhile I am painting away this morning in the studio. Was invited to place some paintings in a new western store in Pilot Point Texas and promised to do some acrylics for their opening this weekend....they just called me yesterday, so I haven't much time. Hope this finds all well...my best to each of you. Grace, Laurie “He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds; the Lord is gracious and merciful.”—Psa
Morning Light Nude Study One Woman Sleeping 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day I was up early working this morning and finished this unusual piece. I must tell you light and shadow interwoven with contrasting hues...it is addicting to me as an artist. Painting with a freedom in the wide brush or palette knife lends itself to the viewer's brain completing the vision of what they are viewing. Three days into Dallas is three days too many! More to come. Grace, Laurie “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouts of joy.”—Job 8:21
After the Snow Cowboy and Horse, Western Art 18 X 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day Haven't had much sleep... promise a longer note tomorrow. This is a simplistic impressionistic piece that tells the tale of clean up after the storm! Grace, Laurie “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.”—Matthew 17:20

Good Sunday morning...I am up early to finish cleaning up in the studio and prepare for shipping Monday and Tuesday. I really am itching to paint since I took the day off yesterday. Things begin brewing in my head and my hands literally itch to take up my brush or knife and work. Church early this morning and my youngest coming to paint my bathroom I hope! Would like to get him painting on canvas again..he is very talented as well. Grace to you all....Sue, have you seen any more turkeys?? Laurie “For God alone my soul waits in s
BEAR UP Wildlife Wild Bear Painting 18 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day Occasionally I paint something besides horses...yesterday it was a bear. A cuddly one inspired from a bronze...but I loved the way the bear was looking up as if studying something in the trees above him....using my palette knife I literally carved him out of color! This morning I am not painting, I am cleaning up the studio, making Christmas Cookies with 15 children and then going to my grandson's birthday party! I might sneak one in there somewhere! Meanwhile, I hope this finds you well and warm! Grace, Laurie “So those who were engaged in the work labored, and the repairing went forward at their hands, and they restored the house of God to its proper condition and strengthened it.” —2 Chronicles 24:13
The Red Door, Garden Painting 8 x 10 inches Oil on Board A Painting a Day Good morning to all! I am up early to hit the easel running. TOO cold out side, but it keeps me shivering and dancing around the easel that is for sure. Will paint about six hours and then need to make 160 Sugar cookies for the bake off tomorrow as all my art students gather to decorate Christmas Cookies, bake CHOC CHOC CHIP cookies with crushed candy canes on top and the dipping of two barrels of Christmas Pretzels in white and dark Chocolate! YUMMMMM ...so much for the diet. This painting is a small one that has VERY thick paint on it...simply put, the RED DOOR. Not sure what is behind it, that is up to your imagination. Charlene, make sure you click on the painting to see it close up...a tiny bit blurry but the paint is obvious! Best to all...I am off to paint now! check out my newest blog...link on the right but I will try and put one here...an occasional Song of the Season. I always pick up my guitar for
Puppy Love, Scottish Terrier Puppy 5 x 7 Inches Oil on Art Board A Painting a Day A tiny baby...a tiny painting, but perfect for that special person! I grew up with Scottie pups under foot...at least one litter a year! Little black bundles of fur that brought so much delight! This goes on auction next week I think, I can't remember, but contact me if you are interested in purchasing it before hand. On auction, 25% goes to Scottie Kingdom Rescue. Contact me. The day will grow cold and I have art students today. We will be working on a special Christmas painting that we were supposed to start last week when class was snowed out! Hopefully we can do it in two working days. Saturday we make Christmas cookies...bake, decorate and eat! SO MUCH FUN!!! Grace to all...have a blessed day. Laurie “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace.” —Isaiah 52:7
Morning Sail 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Time draws near for the holidays! I will be painting less the next two weeks...so I may only post when I have things to post...shouldn't miss too many days! This painting is soooo thick with paint..it literally took tubes multiplied by tubes. Layering it all with three different size palette knives. This is definitely a painting that will draw attention in your home. I am off to shower and fix up some breaded chicken, mashed potatoes and a fresh salad....haven't had anything since breakfast and I was up at four a.m. ...it is almost two here now. Grace to you all. Laurie “What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is my end, that I should be patient?”—Job 6:11
PSALMS 119:18-19 18 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Missed posting yesterday...but back today. I had 16 paintings to ship and it took soo long. Then had to clean house and then I started a painting I will finish this morning...meanwhile I had just finished this one this weekend for J.C. He lives where the trees grow pretty darn well, not like north Texas...obviously they get rain there. As I worked on this commission piece I thought and prayed realizing how small we are in the universe. We are but a blink in time with our individual journeys here on earth. This painting seem to put much in perspective. There are the gifts we have surrounding us that we are too busy to notice because we think normally of self satisfaction; there is the love of a creator that provides for us while we are too busy to notice all the simple things he does as well as the complicated... and the true fact that we are not important, but what we do for others in our journey is important. Today,
The Gathering ~ Eggs 9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day THE EGGS HAVE IT! The Daily Painters put out a call for an egg to be posted today....I dreamt about it, pondered it, researched it, snapped 50 photos of eggs from my frig...and settled on what came from the brush this morning at 5 a.m. Yes, freshly painted, freshly gathered...the story told as the brush worked across the smooth surface reflecting back a basket filled with gathered eggs...too full to put the last two in. Didn't sleep much last night...will work on one more painting, take a shower and go back to bed! Have a party for a one year old in Gainesville later...and will be looking at property to put an art gallery in with Trina. It is all in God's hands as it unfolds...His perfect plan. Grace to all, Laurie “But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings.” —Malachi 4:2
city streets 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Good morning from BRRR land..unusual for Texas for this month of the year...usually we see this in January. I am up even earlier...getting Terry off on the slick roads with a bit extra time to make it to the hanger at DFW...hopefully he will stay warm today. Me ~ I am staying in the studio all day working...painting. This composition above worked itself into being. I started with the palette knife and golds and yellows in the center, working out with oranges and reds...then adding the purples and blues for contrast to the oranges...as I finished the colors I began searching...as I normally do....and I could not see horses anywhere but I could see buildings and streets...so that is what it became.... city streets...with very thick paint drug across the surface. Stay safe this weekend...stay warm and drive carefully if there is bad weather....Sue wrote it was cold where she was...so keep the home fires burning and remember t
