So let them go, let go of them. I tie no weights to my ankles.” C. Joybell C. The Painting 🖌 The Good People is the very last one I will paint in this series. I believe I have maybe 8 or 9 variations out there in different sizes, all inspired once again by Jack Johnson and the song, "Where did all the good people go?"  Using the abstract pull of my palette knife in downward strokes, the contemporary painting celebrates color representing the people. This palette pull of color is something seen in my horse paintings dating back to fall 2006. Contemporary Paintings of action by knife infused with co

Wishing you were here... Horse Painting by Laurie Pace

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2020 Wishing You Were Here  8 x 8 Oil on Panel  Daily Paintings   by Laurie Pace   Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   I painted yesterday!  I did not start the dogs. I did a small 8 x 8 horse painting... the one above, as a Daily Painting.  It is available at $199.  The dog painting will begin today.  Slow progress on stamina.  I stood cleaning up mess before I could even do this painting.  By one in the afternoon I was pretty well ready to eat some lunch and break for the day. It was Saturday after all. I truly won't do much on the dog painting today.  I may finish the etching or begin with a light under coat to knock out the white canvas.  Pretty sure I will use oil.   What do you like to do on Sundays?   We still cannot attend church, or really safely go out to eat. I do not grocery shop on Sundays unless it is an emergency.  To be perfectly honest, I am writing this blog on Saturday

SCOTT FITZGERALD Terry and I sat down to figure out we have been sheltering at home since the second of March. Forty-four days?  It truly seems longer to me. That is longer than Noah and the Flood!!!  From rain and more rain, building 1000 piece puzzles, playing other games, doing small repairs in the house here and there, we have survived those 44 days. I am waiting for the dove to arrive... hey wait, they are all over our backyard!  AM I THE ONLY STIR CRAZY PERSON? What seeds are you planting in your life?

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2020 A Time to Plant Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   “ Words are like seeds, I think, planted into our hearts at a tender age. They take root in us as we grow, settling deep into our souls. The good words plant well. They flourish and find homes in our hearts. They build trunks around our spines, steadying us when we’re feeling most flimsy; planting our feet firmly when we’re feeling most unsure. But the bad words grow poorly. Our trunks infest and spoil until we are hollow and housing the interests of others and not our own. We are forced to eat the fruit those words have borne, held hostage by the branches growing arms around our necks, suffocating us to death, one word at a time. ” Tahereh Mafi Are you preparing your beds for spring and summer? We keep ours prepared all year around.  After the scorching summer heat, only mums can grow to the first freeze of winter, so Terry replen

If only I'd known that one day my differentness would be an asset, then my early life would have been much easier.” ― Bette Midler I was reading recently an article from becoming minimalist on why self-worth is more important than net-worth. Today in our world it always seems to 'matter' about the net-worth and who can collect the most toys. As an artist, your value seems to be dictated by your gallery representation and the image you portray online.  We all have the opportunity to put 'the best face forw

(Matthew 5:14, The Message)”  ―  Anonymous ,  Life is constant change and growing, even at my age.  As we embrace each day, we adjust things around us to complete who we believe we are. People seem to define us by the way we dress, talk or even by what we do.  I find myself evolving in some places, yet holding on to small things from yesterday that I like about myself.  I do not have to become someone "New and Improved" but I have to embrace the change that is needed.  Staying open to what

I must save myself. I must be my own superhero. Although I am open to a sidekick.”  ― Karen Salmansohn I really am painting in the studio... but not sharing some of the work. Promise to get some paintings up that I am playing with right now.  Nothing is impossible... Audrey Hepburn said, "Nothing is impossible, the word itself says "I'm Possible"."  You too can be like a superhero.  When you have something big ahead, do this simple exercise.  Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and put your hands o

A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and a richness to life that nothing else can bring.” ― Oscar Wilde Wealth is a word that crops up often, along with good fortune. As a Christian I really do not believe in luck and I believe wealth is not necessarily money at all. I am wealthy with family and love and blessed with many gifts.  In the same breath I know that I have to feel worthy to receive God's gifts and
