Dust in the Wind.

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2020 Summer Horse 100 from 2012  by Laurie Pace - Sold.  Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   We were settled in for the night of Sunday movies, showered and ready for bed.  The wind was up outside but it was not until I saw out the window our 10 x 10 ft tent FLY across the backyard, that I realized something was not right. We both reacted quickly and hit the back door with slippers forgoing our boots.  The tent had been staked firmly into the ground and been up for the past week sheltering our young peach tree from the summer burn of a week of 105 plus temps (heat index well over 110).   The tent was upside down and push into the branches of a large red oak mid yard.  The tent would have been in Waco by now if it had not been for the tree.  It took both of us wrestling the metal stand to hold it still while Terry unhoo...

Without the dark, we'd never see the stars.”  Stephanie Meyer, Twilight On the stories this canvas would have to tell if it could talk.  It has traveled several places in the US to a gallery and home.  It was a strong painting and really only wanted a home, but it was one of my Black and White series.  I always believe experience and starting over is what strengthens us and I feel the spirit carries into the canvas I work on.  I first tried adding color to the original piec...

You just don't know."  Lauren Oliver, Before I Fall What are those simple things you enjoy in life, and when was the last time you did them?  I LOVE catching snowflakes on my tongue.  What is your list of things you enjoy?  Here are some of mine. Watching the sunrise. Holding my husband's hand as I fall...

I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will live as one." John Lennon This pulled pony reminds me of a dream... with soft rainy colors and not much yellow or gold.  It lulls me when I look at it, lulls me into a dreamlike state. I am not clear that the world will ever live as one. We are all too individual.  Our beliefs will not ever line up because we all believe in different things.  My God may not be your 'god'. ...

Trish Yearwood Every time I think of the floods from Houston and Harvey, I remember the stories of not just the people, but those of the animals, horses, dogs, livestock... One call out on FB was from a frantic horse person that discovered a large group of horses stranded by water.  A fence would have to be cut, horses had to be lead out of the area through deep water and then there needed to be horse trailers for them and a rescue p...

Walking on Water or Thin Air . . . Contemporary Horse Painting in Progress with Texas Artist Laurie Pace

But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child - our own two eyes. All is a miracle." Thich Nhat Hanh, The Miracle of Mindfulness When I start painting I am totally into color, movement and raw emotion. The music is playing loud.  I am liter...

I think she was about six ... and I painted this painting. Part of the joy ...

Ah, that's the great puzzle.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland Just sat on the floor in the entry hall today with Terry sharing about the finding joy again.  We will be spending more time over the next few weeks watching our life and tweaking things each day.  Not sure who we are right now. It is a puzzle. There seems to be constant distractions that keep us from laughing and playing coy with each other and really getting in deep again to where we were about 10 years ag...
