For me, music came long before painting. I grew up at the piano, later taught piano and guitar, and discovered that melodies have a way of staying with us long after the final note has faded. When I painted 'Playing for Papa', I thought I was creating a single painting. Looking back now, I realize I was uncovering something much deeper. Music wasn't simply part of my childhood—it quietly became part of the foundation beneath my art. " The painting is the daughter of a friend I have known all of her life.  Soft and precious and real in so many ways.  A young girl lost in the music of her instrument.  Reminds me of how easily I get lost in playing my piano or one of my guitars.  If you look closely you see the triangle that is the main part of the composition rising from the bottom of the painting.  The eye actually enters at the top left of the canvas and you come straight down the instrument to the beautiful hair and face of the young girl. The concentration is only broken by her arm parallel to the bottom edge of the painting. The arm stops you from leaving the painting. You are to stay, study and enjoy the sto...
