Using eight vibrant colors, including blues, purples, and a touch of golden yellow, I let the paint guide me. The horse appeared naturally through the push and pull of my knife, creating a lively, representational abstract work. This 16 x 16-inch piece combines fluid composition, bold color contrasts, and intuitive design. I love how palette knife painting allows spontaneity and freedom, giving each piece a unique rhythm. This painting was created for a fund raiser for college scholarships. We live in a society fueled by billions of dollars in advertising, and nowhere is it more visible than during the holiday season. How that aligns with the birth of Jesus, I will never understand. Yet, this time of year especially, we seem to feel the pressure to need more, buy more, spend more. In reality, all that spending and buying doesn’t bring freedom—it brings more stuff. And the more stuff we accumulate, the heavier life becomes. Bulging drawers and closets. Utility rooms overflowing. Kitchen cabinets crammed full. Pantries stuffed. Linen closets where things tumble out when you open the door. So I find myself asking two questions: Why do we feel such a need to spend money? This is late for me to post on Saturday. We were at an Olympic Meet for Special Needs Children this morning watching one of our grandson's compete.  Great way to start the day! Saturday Morning in Texas!  The heat is definitely up. Hubby has the attic fans going 24 hours right now, but last night was in the seventies... usually we are eighties. Last August we had three weeks of rain which provided a beautiful fall foliage on our red oaks .    When choosing a painting to put on the blog this morning, this is a favorite smaller piece I did as a commission years back.  I put a higher resolution up for you to really appreciate the palette knife used in my work.  Sweet horse painting has quite a bit of pink, coral, accented with greens and blues and mixed colors in between... dashes of purple and literally chunks of white play throughout the weave of knife strokes. I had chills when I opened the file to add it to my blog this morning. Can you feel the power of my palette knife??  I am currently working with a brush on a large 36 x 36 canvas.   The next painting will bring me back to my knife! The colors were alway vivid and full of life. This is a small painting but not small in energy.  Galatians 6:9  "And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."   This is a crush week (I cannot be weary!) and the why I have not posted daily. We have packing for a family member going on, and figuring out storage etc.  I have washed more this week, and with the dryer deciding to pull a code, I am hanging wash on clothes lines out back.
