I also spent time beginning a small portrait, discovering once again that sometimes a painting has its own direction if we are willing to slow down and listen. This new small painting came to life almost instantly, built from fresh color pulled straight from the tubes and moved across the canvas without hesitation. The horse revealed itself in the motion — raw, immediate, and full of energy. I’m starting a new rhythm of smaller works — painting more often, staying in movement, and sharing them directly from the easel, sometimes while still wet. Using eight vibrant colors, including blues, purples, and a touch of golden yellow, I let the paint guide me. The horse appeared naturally through the push and pull of my knife, creating a lively, representational abstract work. This 16 x 16-inch piece combines fluid composition, bold color contrasts, and intuitive design. I love how palette knife painting allows spontaneity and freedom, giving each piece a unique rhythm. This painting was created for a fund raiser for college scholarships. This is late for me to post on Saturday. We were at an Olympic Meet for Special Needs Children this morning watching one of our grandson's compete.  Great way to start the day! He came in third place out of a group... and he is only 12... the first and second place winners were 15 and 17.   Then is was lunch and of course Mexican Food!!    T his painting posted above is one of three in the Watering Hole series from several years ago.  They are all strong with reds! Saturday Morning in Texas!  The heat is definitely up. Hubby has the attic fans going 24 hours right now, but last night was in the seventies... usually we are eighties. Last August we had three weeks of rain which provided a beautiful fall foliage on our red oaks .    When choosing a painting to put on the blog this morning, this is a favorite smaller piece I did as a commission years back.  I put a higher resolution up for you to really appreciate the palette knife used in my work.  Sweet horse painting has quite a bit of pink, coral, accented with greens and blues and mixed colors in between... dashes of purple and literally chunks of white play throughout the weave of knife strokes.
